HT204409 Cannot connect to home wifi with iPhone 4s.

IMy iphone does not see my home wifi.  Nothing has changed, even after IOS 6.  My Ipad and iMAC see and connect just fine.  I reset everything on the modem and computers and again everything connects except the 4S.  I have verified and or reset all settings including no security.  It sees all the other netowrks in the area too.  Any suggestion.

If there is no problem with the iPhone seeing any other available wi-fi networks or connecting with any other wi-fi network your iPhone has access to, not sure how it can't be a problem with your wireless router or network regardless if the iPad and iMac have no problem.
No change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

I suddenly cannot connect to any wifi with my ipad 1. in settings my wifi is turned on. My home connection shows up under Choose a network and has a strong signal. I have reset the Wifi under General. But when I type in my password it still says, "Unable to join the network."

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • After ios 5 update cannot connect to home wifi

it worked just before i installed ios 5 and now I cannot connect to my wifi. iphone still connects

    Same for me.
I have to reset my comcast modem to get the iphone to submit the password.
Otherwise i just get a message "unable to connect to HOMExxxx"
After I reset the modem then I get the password request.
Password should be retained in the iPhone.
Got the iPhone connected on Sunday night and then Monday morning had to go through the whole routine again.
Comcast password is many characters so this is problematic.

  • HT4993 Cannot connect to home wifi

I have the iphone 4S and I'm really getting tired of not being able to connect to my home wifi. My husband has the Samsung Galaxy S3 and has no problems whatsoever. I bought this phone for that specific reason amongst others but this is getting ridiulous. I'm about to take it to the Apple store and tell them they can have it back. Anyone else going through this???

There are a few posters with that problem, Angie...this can be either an incompatibility with the router or a problem with the iPhone or iDevice.  Start with the Troubleshooting iOS WiFi article, see if that helps.  If you are having issues with the WiFi block on the iPhone being greyed out, see this article.
Are you having problems only with the home WiFi or all WiFi?
You might also try a reboot of the iPhone by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

  • No connection to home Wifi on Iphone

When i go on the interent with my iphone, i get promted to choose a wifi network. I choose my home Wifi network (which is not WEP proctected), but still get the E symbol on the upper left corner. I am NOT getting the wi-fi symbol. I see my network has a check next to it, so does anyone know why I am not getting the wi-fi bars? Also, when at work, at can easily connect to the wifi and I DO see the wifi bars.
Am I doing something wrong with my home network? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

JC is right, at least in my case. I have tried everything in these forums to no avail. I have a Zyxel DSL wireless router and when I updated the firmware, BAM, it worked perfectly. I don't like my iPhone, I love it!

  • Trouble connecting to home WIFI with iphone5

Hi, I am currently experience technifcal difficulties with connecting to the internet (WIFI) with the iPhone 5.
After a day of purchasing the phone i have already used half of my internet data plan....assumingly that i was using WIFI as i have connected it to my home network..however that did not work and now i cant log into the intet using my own home WIFI
Will getting a new iPhone 5 help solve this issues?
    Please help!!!

The iPhone is designed after a period of non-use to disconnect the wifi, however upon waking the phone it should reconnect within a few seconds. You can try and forget the network and reset network settings, that may fix your issue. You can forget the network by going to Settings, wifi, and tap on the little blue arrow to the right side of your wifi network. Once that next screen opens, you can select Forget this network. Then try and connect again, put in the password and see if it connects. If not, go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings, Then try and join again.

        jornjr,
Hmm, that is odd let's get to the bottom of this and ensure you can connect to all wifi connections. Please try this: Settings> WiFi> Menu> Advanced> Uncheck Smart Network Switch. Also ensure your "Keep WiFi on during sleep" here are the steps for that: Settings> WiFi> Menu> Advanced> Ensure Keep WiFi on during sleep is set to "Always". Please let us know if this helps.

  • Connecting to home wifi with X8 / X10

I wonder whether anyone might be able to shed some light in a minor irritation I have when connercting my X10 and X8 to my home wifi, please?  It might well be a router issue, rather than the phones, but grateful for any thoughts. When I try to connect my phone to the wifi, it shows that my home network is available and with a good signal, but when I try to connect, the phone will think about it for a while, try to connect and then come up with a message saying 'unsuccessful'.  If I pull the power cord from the router and put it back in, then try to connect the phone again, it almost invariably works and stays connected as it should.  The wifi is secured with WPA and the phones will sometimes show WPA and at other times WPA2 or (I think, from memory) WPA-PSK.  The phones connect easily to unsecured wifi, in places such as public libraries - and neighbours who haven't put any security on their wifi systems...!  At other times, the phone will connect automatically as soon as I get home, presumably when I have forgotten to switch off the connection when I go out.  What I'd really like to do is for the phone to do that every time I get within reach of my router (D-Link DIR-615, if that means anything to anybody and is of any relevance) Any thoughts or suggestions, please, anyone?

I did have a similar issue, however I got around this by installing Wifistatic from the Market, getting the phone to forget the network, disconnect and then reconnect power to the router after which I have not had any issues connecting to my router.

  • Cannot connect to home wifi?

why can't i connect to my home wifi, everyone else in the house can ?

Probably because the DHCP daemon in the router has quit. Try rebooting the router by turning it off for about 15 seconds.

  • HT6065 Cannot connect to home wifi automatically despite upgrading to OS X Mavericks v10.9.1 Update

My MacBook Pro is unable to connect to my home wifi although there were no problems in the past.  I realized that the problem was intermittent and then it became permanent.  Each time I have to manually connect to my home wifi.  This is despite having upgraded to the latest OS version Maverick v 0.9.1.

See if anything here helps - no guarantees, but sometimes any one of the suggestions has been known to work:
    WiFi Problems:
Wifi problems seem to crop up a lot on here and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 'one fix' solution.
However, sometimes any one of the following can help although, unfortunately, not always. In no particular order:
Check wifi security - if it's WEP change it to WPA or WPA2 (preferably, as it's more secure)
Change the wifi channel on the router
Create a new Network Location: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5289
    Reboot the router
Also take a look at this link and the links within the article for other ideas. They mainly reference Lion, but still seem to be relevant to Mountain Lion and possibly Mavericks:

Getting WiFi to automatically join the correct network:
    System Preferences>Network>WiFi>Advanced Button
Delete all networks you don’t want to join
Tick the box ‘Remember networks this computer has joined’
Tick the box ‘Change networks’ under ‘Require administrator authorisation to…’
    OK the changes
Tick the box ‘Ask to join new networks’
    Apply the changes

  • Why my use iPhone cannot connect to home wifi in China?

I have just visited China, city of nanjing. Was staying at friends house, home has a wifi router connected to China Telecom modem. No matter how i tried, i just could not connect to the internet.Anybody got solutions to it?Tried using a iphone 4 and 4s.

not sure its still of any use, but I found I have to reset the china telecom modem (not the router) so that when it starts, the devices are already there and accepted for internet connection. I have that problem and need to reset my modem every day when I get home

  • Connecting to Home WiFi with Belkin Router

    Hi guys,
love my itouch, just cant get it to connect properly with my router. My settings confirm im connected ok (ive input my password as requested), but when i use safari or try to collect my emails im told my itouch can connect to the server. Do i need to manually input more settings (and if so, what are they....?) When i attach to other routers i have no such problems, straight into safari and straight into my emails....
At a loss, so any help geatfully received!!
    Cheers

    hello
i may have a solution for you.
Do you have any computers connected to the network?
if so, then what firewall software is installed?
I had the same problem, and it was very annoying. All i did was add every conceivable ip address that my router could give to my ipod into the 'safe ip's' section of my firewall software. It instantly started working.
    Give it a try!
