  • TS1398 My iPhone 4S won't let me turn the wifi on!

Hi! My iPhone won't let me turn the wifi on, the option is greyed out in settings and the control centre doesn't work-it doesn't turn on either. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks xxx

    Hi Lullita.
This is a common problem on iphone 4s using ios 7.
I have had this problem myself.
    Try basic troubleshooting : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If that doesnt help, try this.
Go to youtube and type this " 4s wifi grey" ... You will find a couple of videos describing a method which includes blowdrying your phone and puttin it into freezer. This method does fix your wifi, I know I have tried it myself, and it brought back my wifi and bluetooth, which were greyed out.
But be very careful, this method can damage your device if youre not careful enough. Do this at your own risk.
    Hope I helped.
    Donnie.

If the steps in the article TJBUSMC1973 linked didn't resolve your issue, then the next step would be to have your phone serviced at an Apple store. Good luck

  • Upgraded my 4S to ios 6.0 and now my phone won't let me turn on wifi?

I recently upgraded my iphone 4S to ios 6 and now it won't let me turn wifi on.  I don't even have the option, it's greyed out.  I have tried restarting the phone and it still does not work.

I also tried to reset network settings, and turn cellular data on and off, but the wifi still remains greyed out and can't be turned on.

  • My iphone 4 won't turn on unless it is plugged into the wall. Also, my iphone won't let me turn on the wi-fi. And another problem is that it sometimes says "searching..." but it still works. And I already reseted the network setting and all settings.

    Please help

    Hello there, JP3199.
You've mentioned a few issues in your post so I will try to offer up some recommendations for troubleshooting each. In regards to the issue of not powering on unless plugged in the following Knowledge Base article offers some practical steps to try:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
In regard to being unable to turn on Wi-Fi, if you mean that the button is grayed out, then this article should prove useful:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, see how to resolve those Wi-Fi issues.
Lastly, this article should help with troubleshooting cellular network connection on your iOS device:

  • Iphoto says I have the wrong address and won't let me order the book. What is the problem?

Why doesn't iphoto let me order the book I composed? They say I have the wrong address yet it is my address.

What Print Products Store do you have iPhoto linked to in iPhoto's Advanced preference pane?
Is it the correct one for where you address is?

  • My iPhone 4s won't let me turn on wifi connection

Hi, my iphone 4s would not connect to wifi, after having no problems previously.  I turned wifi off under settings & now the phone will not let me switch it on again. I have tried shutting it down, have been stuck since yesterday! Any suggestions?

  • TS1398 My iPhone wont allow me to turn the wifi on. I've also noticed that I have no wifi address for my phone. If that is the problem, I don't know how to tell it what my wifi address should be.

Under Settings>Wi-Fi it is showing that my Wifi is off. When i open that to turn it on, it won't allow me to slide it to the on position. It's lighter grey instead of bold, which tells me that action is not available. Under Settings>General>About it says that my Wi-Fi Address is N/A. I have figured out that it should be the very same as my Bluetooth, which also will not work, but I don't know how to program that into my iPhone

That indicates a hardware failure. Read here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
If nothing works, you most likely have a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple store to confirm.

  • HT1695 What if my problem is that it won't let me slide the wifi on, on my phone the wifi is greyed out and won't move

  • I have an iMac 24" EMC 2111 intel core 2 duo running OX lion and would like to set up a first gen Apple wireless keyboard. It has been discovered but won't let me type the code. What am I doing wrong?

I cant set up my older wireless keyboard with my iMac. The Apple site shows this keyboard model as needing a USB keyboard and mouse for initial set up, but I dont know how to do that. Blue tooth finds the keyboard, yet when I need to type the passcode, nothing happens. the keys wont function. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Make a new folder and put them in that different folder. Then the names can be the same as others already on your drive.

i live in canada and am trying to sent a calendar to friends in the US   in the edit shipping address section it won't let me change the country.  what am i doing wrong?

You can only ship Apple products to the same country as the credit card used is billed to. So unless you have a credit card with a billing address in the States you won't be able to ship direct.
