HT204570 Not everything is uploaded to iCloud photo library

Hi,
I recently converted my large photo library from iPhoto to Yosemite's Photos app. Since it's over 100Gb I signed up for a larger iCloud storage size as well. After giving the iMac a couple of days time to upload photos, it seems it doesn't upload everything. Currently I have 32.157 photos in the Photos app of which 18.546 have been uploaded. The preference screen does not indicate that anything is still pending upload.
It seems that (mostly) older albums/moments are only partially uploaded, while newly aded photos are uploaded just fine. Any idea how I can make the app upload everything? I've paid for the backup storage, so I would like to fully make use of it.
Regards,

  • "all photos" album not including all photos. Causing some photo not to be uploaded to iCloud Photo Library

After updating to iCloud photo library (iPhone 5, iOS 8.1), if I look at my "photos" tab I see over 700 photos, but in the  'all photos' album I only have 420. This results in only 420 of the photos uploaded to iCloud Photo library and not clearing much space off of my iPhone.

The FAVOURITES and PANOS albums also sort by date and time too. So all the albums sort by time and day except the ALL PHOTOS album! Seems very strange! What's even odder is that the date range listed at the top of the ALL PHOTOS album would suggest that they are sorted by date!
Apple I hope you SORT this out soon

  • Photos not uploading to iCloud Photo Library from Photos beta

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now to upload photos from my Mac to the iCloud Photo Library using the new Photos beta. I have about 2,800 photos and the upload process just stalls with about 2,000 photos left to upload.
I've tried turning the upload on and off and rebuilding the library but nothing works. A couple of times when restarting the upload process I have received this error message:
Referenced files will not upload to iCloud Photo Library
Select referenced files in your library and choose “Consolidate” from the File menu to copy the original files into the library.
So I gather I'm supposed to select a few files and consolidate them, but I have no idea what the "referenced" files are.  Might anyone know?
    thanks!

  • HT6378 There is no Pause option in Settings to pause the upload to iCloud Photo Library.

There is no Pause option in Settings to pause the upload to iCloud. How can I pause uploading new photos?
In addition, if you choose to turn off the Photo Library beta, you receive a message that indicates the option will be removed from the iPhone.
CorvusIf you choose to continue to Remove, the app indicated that a number of photos will be removed from the iPhone, although it does state that they will remain in iCloud
But, about this option you can see on Apple site http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6378 in
(When do photos and videos upload to iCloud Photo Library?
When you turn on iCloud Photo Library on your devices, your photos and videos will begin to upload after you connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi. You can see the status on the Photos tab and pause upload for one day from Settings > iCloud > Photos.
Depending on your Internet connection speed, the time it takes for your photos and videos to appear on all of your devices might vary.)
    Anyone have this issue too?

The Delete button is only available in your Photo Streams, Camera Roll or Albums you made on the iPhone. Synced photos from a computer can not be deleted and have to be done through the iTunes sync process.
Tap Photo Stream - My Photo Stream then tap on the Edit button here, there should be a Delete button at the bottom. If not try Resetting your iPhone:
From the Home screen double tap the Home button to view the multitasking bar at the bottom. Tap and hold an app at the bottom till the icons wiggle with the minus button visible. Tap the button to close all apps then tap the Home button to get back to the Home page. Press and hold the Sleep button till you see the Slide to power off message and power it off. Once powered down completely press and hold the sleep button till the Apple icon appears.

  • How upload to iCloud photo library beta from mac

How do I upload photos from imac (iPhoto) to iCloud photo library beta.

I have bought 500 gb of data a month. However what is the point as I only have access to the photos I take on my phone. I have no option in the beta.icloud/photo app to upload my photos from my mac.. what am I missing?
The option to upload should be there on the iCloud web page, but I don't see it.  That is what iCloud Help says:
    Add new photos or videos
Log in to iCloud.com, then click Photos.
Click Upload and select the photos or videos you want to add.
Click Choose to upload them to your library.
So, I am sure, the option to upload will be there soon. It must be an oversight. Send feedback to Apple: Apple - iPhoto - Feedback
The still elusive "Photos.app" on your Mac is supposed to bring the ability to upload to iCloud Photo Library on the Macs. The release has been announced for "Early next year". For the time being, upload the photos you want in iCloud Photo Library to your devices (Photo Stream, Mail) and add them from there to the iCloud Photo Library.

  • Photos not uploading to iCloud Photo Library

My issue is with iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.3). Works fine for a few days, then gets stuck and won't upload anything to iCloud, which in turn won't show up in the Photos app on my Mac (OS X 10.3.3). Currently it's been stuck on "4 Photos to Upload" for a over a day now. This happened last week as well and I had to shut off iCloud Photo Library and turn back on. It eventually worked, but that was a long painful process because I have 80GB of photos.
It's not a wifi issue either, and I've rebooted the phone as well. I've been on 2 separate very fast internet connections and only used half the space on my 200 GB iCloud plan. I've edited a few photos with Snapseed and Camera+ using extensions – could it be a corrupt photo using a 3rd party app causing the problem?
When iCloud Photo Library works, it's great, but this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks to hang during upload. I wish there was a way to refresh it or force it to upload without turning the whole thing off and on. Anyone else having this issue?

Same here - no upload button for me, too. OS X Lion, Safari 6.1.6. Trying not to take it as personal.

  • IPhone 6 not uploading to iCloud photo library

Yes I know that apples iCloud photo library is still in beta but very often my iPhone 6 will get stuck trying to upload photos (most that were taken by the phone itself) and my iPad Mini 2 has no issues. And now the iPhone 6 - when connected to wifi - is trying to upload 8 photos that were already uploaded my my iPad. Any suggestions besides a total factory reset - I am on vacation and don't have access to my iTunes backups.

Three were taking by the iPhone so they were originally on the phone. Two were uploaded and it got stuck on the third one. The other photos were transferred to my iPad mini by Canon's app from my camera and the iPad did upload them to the iCloud photo library. I then transferred those photos from the iPad to iPhone using Airdrop and now - even though the iPad already uploaded them to the cloud, the iPhone is stuck trying to do the same thing

  • Mac storage full during upload to iCloud Photo Library

    MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013)
    1.3 GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB
    OS X 10.10.3
I'm uploading my Photos Library to the iCloud Photo Library because I don't have enough space left in my Mac (around 7 GB left).
When I started uploading, it went down to 3 GB, and now stopped uploading because Photos is telling me that "Your Mac Storage is full. This Mac is no longer updating because there is not enough space to store optimized versions of your photos and videos."
I don't understand why it's taking up space when it's supposed to minimize space taken by my library.
I have upgraded my iCloud Storage to 200GB, so there should be no problem with that (iPhoto Library is only ~120GB)
    Would appreciate any help!

Hey benjfromlewes. Thanks for helping out!
Something pretty neat seems to happening when Photos creates its library from iPhotos because my machine didn't have anything like enough storage to achieve this (I had about 15 Gig free, and my iPhotos library was about 100 Gig). I suspect that it Photos probably shares the images files with iPhoto in some way, but I don't know. Anyway – removing the iPhoto library did still fee up lots of space for me.
I was thinking about deleting the old iPhoto Library, but then (like what you think) it seems that Photos and iPhoto are sharing files, even though they're separate. Because I only had 7 GB left when I updated to Photos and that created ~100 GB library, so it's impossible that I have an invisible extension.
I can't wait to delete it though, but I think I'll wait until after uploading everything to the cloud--just to be extra sure.
I'm don't know why Photos increases its storage requirement during the upload phase. Perhaps it has to keep all the original images locally until they are all uploaded, rather than removing the high quality images as it goes along. I've decided to keep the high resolution images locally anyway now: they're useful for printing and such.
It's working again now, I deleted some movies and restarted. This increased my space to 5.5 GB. I've been monitoring it since and noticed that Photos brought it down to 4 GB, going up and down slightly from there. But it hasn't stopped since. Hoping it'll continue on like this and not require any more space.

  • My iPhone 6 is full even though my photos are being uploaded to iCloud Photo Library.  Any recent photos are no longer being uploaded.

My iPhone 6 is full.  I have iCloud Photo Library enabled.  Any recent photos are no longer being uploaded and are just drawing down my storage.  I have "Optimize Phone Storage" enabled.

Open Activity monitor in Utilities, go to the CPU tab>All Processes, and note any process that would appear to be related to importing photos, such as iPhoto, and use Force Quit. This may only be a temporary fix, as it may start all over again when you reboot. If that happens, we need to do some more investigating.
Also, close all open Applications, then open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste and hit return, then post the output of this command.
    lsof -l +L -R -V | grep /

  • Is there a way to prevent pictures/video from uploading to iCloud photo library from my iPhone and just have pictures/video from my Macbook in Photos upload to iCloud Photo Library?

I would like just my imported photos and video in the Photos App to be synced to my iCloud Photo Library, and not the photos and video from my iPhone. Is there a way to do this?

You can either sync them back to your iPhone is you have them saved on a computer, or you can restore from a backup if you have one.  Those would be about your only options. iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Is it possible to pause uploading to iCloud photo library in iOS?

When uploading photos to iCloud photo library from OS X, there is an option to pause the upload.
This is useful to give your internet connection some respite (e.g. during periods where traffic management policies apply).
I can't find such an option in iOS. Am I missing something?

You can try using a JavaScript disabling extension. This may disable more than you want it to though.

  • Photos will not open, stuck on "Use iCloud Photo Library Page"

I have had my photos app running for three days now and it still hasn't created a library. It is stuck on the Second screen after initializing the app for the first time which gives you the choice between use iCloud photo Library and not now. When I try to quit the app a dialog box pops up saying "Photos is creating or opening a library - cannot quit while it creating or opening a library"
    Can Photos be re-installed?
Bit of background, I have a 3th fusion drive iMac from late 2013 and I am a photographer with about 1tb of photos on the local drive, is it overwhelming Photos?
    Thanks

    Hi VtBoomer,
Lets see if we can clear this up. When you turn on iCloud Photo Library beta, you are essentially switching from a collection of photos that is stored on your iPhone and moving the photos to iCloud. It does actually use iCloud storage when you do this. What this accomplishes is if you have multiple devices, then they will be in sync across all other iOS and your computer. Take a look at the FAQs page below to answer any other questions you may have.

  • Photos stopped uploading to iCloud Photo Library beta.  Any suggestions?

Yesterday I set up iCloud Photo library beta to upload my photos to iCloud.  Aft 40 photos uploaded it seems that the upload is stuck and won't upload any more photos.  I went to the iCloud photos beta site and the 40 or so photos that uploaded are there.

    Hi,
I had this exactly. My iPhone and iPad got stuck just moments after I enabled Icloud Photo Library.
I then plugged my ipad overnight to a charger and in the morning, it was all synced
So I plugged my iphone and it immediately started syncing the rest.
    Hope it helps someone
