Place the iPod in recovery mode and then connect to the computer and restore via iTunes. For recovery mode:

There is no built in function to make this happen.
Your options are:
Upgrade the existing hard drive.
Try creating a link for the app folder on the external drive... this may or may not work.
Realistically, a larger hard drive is a better solution, then use the external drive for keeping a backup of the ENTIRE iTunes folder and any other personal data on the system. -

I have recently purchased the ipod classic and and Ipad. After syncing my ipod with my laptop I cannot eject the ipod the message that appear is - cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in us by another application - does any one know why this is. I do have some music in my itunes which is part of my husbands library but he has authorised my laptop to use his music.Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

Ipod works with Itunes fine (can put music and podcasts on the ipod), but can't take songs off of the ipod. Using windows xp and everything is up to date. Any ideas of how to fix it?
I didn't know that it was posted three times. My computer didn't say that it posted anything.
My ipod still syncs to itunes and I can put podcasts and music on my ipod, but I can't delete songs after I put them on the ipod. When I try to delete songs I try to delete it from the main music list on the ipod. It's also doing all the other stuff that I posted before. The screen will go black and then the power off slider thing shows up for a few seconds, then it'll show the unlock slider bar. Then goes black again. It will also do that when I have the ipod unocked and changing songs or playing a game. I've restored it to the factory default/new ipod and it still does the same thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and then restored it again to the factory default and it's still doing the same exact thing. I checked and my computer is up to date. -
How can I transfer my pictures off an old iPod touch to my new computer if it doesn't recognized the device??

Try putting the iPod in DFU Mode vs. Recovery Mode.

My iphone 4 turned off yesterday very randomly. I had 88% battery when it turned off. I plugged it into the wall and it said i had no battery, then the apple came up as if it was turning on. It went black again and this keeps repeating over and over. Any help please ?
Battery could be at EOL. Try getting it replaced.
