Can I run classic in a Mac OSX 10.3 Panther?

Yes, you can. However, you must have the Mac OS 9 System Folder installed on your hard drive.

  • Running classic on Mac OS X Intel Mac

I have a brand new MacBook, running OS 10.4.9.
I have some older programs that need to be ran through classic.
I know that you can't use classic on Intel systems, and that you need SheepShaver to use it. I need a place to download an old version of Mac OS, one that would allow me to use the classic environment. Of course, I want legal solutions only =P I heard that Mac OS 7.x something was legal for download, but where can I find it, and will it allow me to run classic applications?

I rember signing a petition online somewhere to have Apple release OS to the masses for free (since 7.55 is available). Alas, I don't know what ever came of that...
But in regards to your delema, the only way to obtain a classic version that would work is to purchase it. There's a great company here in the bay area called Mac-Pro. And they have a great staff and great prices on a lot of different items. Or there's also the ever classic eBay.
More likely than not, the applications that you have will need at least Mac OS 8.6, but 9.2 is going to be your best bet.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I run the new Mac pro (6.1) with only one stick of ram?

Will that cause any problems. And if not how much will the overall quality be affected. it won't be a permanent solution, but for a few weeks at least. So can it happen? Can I run the Mac pro 2013 with only one memory stick?

    Per this
    http://blog.macsales.com/22745-mix-and-match-more-memory-faster-mac-pro-2
the 2013 Mac Pro is the only MP that can use a single stick of memory.

  • Can't run classic on os 10.4.2

I have os 10.4.2 and would like to run os 9 classic to play old games. But I can't activate classic - system says there's no folder. I have downloaded countless updates and tried to install but they won't install on my hard drive. I have also formatted and reinstalled the os and software bundle that came with the computer. What can I do?
    Thanks
    Sean Crap

    Thanks for the answer
However I still can't get it to work; if I try to update os 9 the system tells me, there's no folder for os 9. I can't install the downloaded os 9 update since there's no folder.
I have formatted and reinstalled using the discs that came with the computer. It seems strange, that there's a classic icon in the control panel, when there's nothing when you click it.

  • Word for Mac and Boot Camp, can I run Word for Mac while running Windows?

    Hi There :
I just installed windows xp on my mac book pro. I have Word for Mac already installed. Is there any way by which I can use this Word software while I am running Windows.
    Thanks a lot

You'd need to install a virtualization product, such as VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop for Mac. This way, you'd be running Windows alongside Mac OS X. I use VMware Fusion and recommend it. For resource-intensive applications, I boot natively into Windows, but I generally use the virtual machine for convenience sake.

  • HT1752 How can I run classic Mac games on my Mac, I am running Mac OS X.

I would like to run some of the old educational cds I have but none of them will work on my mac. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8. I was wondering if anyone out there could post a step by step tutorial to getting old games to run. Thanks very much for any  help.

Check around on the web and the manufacturers websites to see if any of those classic games have been updated or remodified to play on Intel Macs and your os.

  • How can I run Classic on my new Imac 10.4.7?

I've recently had to buy a new computer which is fantastic, however all my work (I work as a freelance designer) runs on classic and I cant open any of them. Is there something I can download that will open classic for me? Is it possible to download OS 9 to run on my Imac?

    Hi, cardsculptor -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
If your iMac is a brand new one, it has an Intel processor. None of the Intel processor Macs are supported by Apple for Classic, which is why it is not included as an installable item from the original disk set that came with the machine.
There is a 3rd-party emulator program, SheepShaver, which is designed to work with OS 9.0.4 or earlier in order to provide OS 9/Classic capability on Intel-based machines. It may or may not work for your purposes.

  • Can't run ojdeploy on Mac OS X

    Hi,
I'm trying out the tutorial "Using WebCenter Space Extension Samples (11.1.1.4)" and when I tried to do clean-stage on build.xml file, I saw "[ora:ojdeploy] Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation (or Ctrl-C to quit), the path will be stored in ~/.ojdeploy_jdk [ora:ojdeploy] Error: /bin/java not found" in the log window.
Then I also tried to just run the ojdeploy under#HOME/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojdeploy in terminal, it also showed me the following message:
    Oracle JDeveloper Deploy 11.1.1.5.0
Copyright (c) 1997, 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation (or Ctrl-C to quit), the path will be stored in ~/.ojdeploy_jdk
It looks like ojdeploy can't find the right path of the java, but when I install the JDeveloper, I followed every step including creating the symbolic link for JAVA_HOME and JDEV_USER_DIR. Is there anything else I need to change for the ojdeploy?
    I'm using the JDeveloper(11.1.1.5), Mac OS X10.6.7, JVM 1.6.0_24-b07-334 64-bit

    hi 856105
Just based on the information you provide, when you ...
... tried to just run the ojdeploy under#HOME/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojdeploy in terminal ...... and that resulted in the message ...
... Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation ...... have you tried to "Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation " ?

  • Can I run bootcamp and mac osx

Can I setup two different user accounts with one running bootcamp with windows and the other running mac osx?

You don't "run" Boot Camp. You run Windows and OSx.
Install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant. Create a password protected Windows user. Create a password protected OSx user.
When someone boots the computer have them press and hold the option key. If Windows is selected as the boot option, only the Windows user will be able to log in. If OSx is selected as the boot option, only the OSx user will be able to log in.
