HT2204 Authorize music from an old ID
I am trying to get music I purchased under an old Apple ID onto my new laptop and with my new ID. Problem is, I have no clue what that password was, nor have my answers to the security questions been correct. I've tried all the solutions I could find on the Apple website, and on iTunes, but all the ones I've found require the password to the old ID. Of course this makes sense to protect the user, but it means I'm stumped and can't get at my old music! Any suggestions?

You cannot. iTunes purchases remain on the iTunes account they were purchased with.

I am losing a hard drive on an old computer so I performed a sync of all music from the old computer to my ipod nano. Now when I sync my ipod nano to my new computer/Itunes all music will not upload to new computer/software. What am I doing wrong?
I’ve never needed to do that and am fairly new to using itunes but try doing this. Go to, “Store,” in the itunes menu and select, “Authorize this computer.” Enter apple id and see if that works. I heard that method is used to transfer purchased media to a new computer but I don’t know if it works for regular stored media. Please let me know if that works.

Your computer needs to be authorized with the "old" Apple ID. Pull done Store > Authorize... And type the credentials when prompted.

The iphone is not a backup/storage device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You shouldcopy everything from your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one. This one of the main reasons it has laways been very basic to always maintain a abckup copy of your computer. -
My old PC crashed and I ended up buying a new one. I was able to recover all my music from the old hard drive and restore it in itunes. I purchased a new album online thru itunes and added it to my library. When I tried to add the album to my 6th nano it wouldn't download. All the tracks are check marked and I can listen to the album on my pc but it won't sync onto the ipod. The new pc is authorized, any ideas?
You can only sysc with one iTunes library. The new computer is a new library. You have to restore your iPod on the new conputer and then sync.

A little while ago my computer crashed and I lost everything, including my iTunes library except for on my iPod Shuffle. I just got a new iPod Nano for Christmas and I need to transfer the music from my old one to my new one but I can't figure out how to do this because my iTunes does not have the music that my old one does.

From there, go to the main page of the store. Then, on the right, there should be a purchased button. Tap there, and walla! You can download all of your past purchases. I have an older iPod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new iPod Touch and Itunes cannot be updated. Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one? It is my understanding that the music cannot be saved onto my new iTunes, b/c I did not have iCloud. I have over 2,000 songs I just cannot part with. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help some how!! THANKS!
I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?
