HT2204 E-mail address now defunct but apple doesn't recognise my security settings and old password is now invalid?

Hi,
Our original apple ID was a hotmail email address that has now been closed down as it was had a virus. I KNOW we should have changed it to our new e- mail address, but we were able to use it and log in with our password.
I have now tried to download an app and apple says my password is incorrect - it isn't, I've put it in dozens of times today and its definatley the once we have always used. As I don't have the option of changing my password via e-mail, I have gone through the security questions and apple are saying that ALL of these are also incorrect. These are basic things like date of birth, childhood street etc.
A such we cannot download anything on the iPad. Other people have had this problem with defunct e- mail addresses and it seems apple has re- set the passwords and security questions meaning we cannot access anything?
Does anyone have any advice they can offer us?

It sounds like maybe your son may have changed the Primary email address for your apple id to his email address.
If you are certain that you have the right password, try signing in to the apple id website under HIS email address and your password at appleid.apple.com
If you can, than that is what he did and you only need to change it back to yours.
Then have him create his own apple id properly with his own email address.
He'll need to be at least 13 in order to be able to do it under his own birthday.
Heres' a really easy way for him to set it up without requiring your credit card.

If the old ID ("username") is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID. You can have multiple addresses associated with your apple id. You will have to verify any changes before they can be added and this is done by sending you an email. This is to protect you from someone else makeing changes to your account.

If you have a rescue email address on your account then you've checked the inbox and spam folder on that account as well, and you've tried requesting the email again ? If you still can't find it then try contacting Support in your country and see if they can reset it for you.

Did you try deleting the mail account, then adding it back? I've read a lot of times that is what needs to happen in order for it to work properly.

But it does somehow my English security answers do not work on a Japanese Question especialy if I did not choose that question I set up the multiple choice In English and wrote the answers in English or Roman and set them langauge preferences in English, do you really think you can correctly write english name or word in Japanese they write a police patrol car pato caa パトカア　they do not have r and l .So it is my choice to make my security easy for me and as difficult for others to hack.But they also have patororoo choo meaning ' now patrolling ' so why they have pato caa patrol car and patoro patrol and have thousands of Chinese words kanji they can find patrol.
I am getting off the topic but I am at a loss to fix this problem when they hold the keys and i have all the info to verify my ID.

I recommend that you
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

Hi thanks, When I enter the Apple ID I get a message that either my Apple ID or password are incorrect. I then go to Forgotten Password, enter my Apple ID, choose to get an email to reset the password, but no email arrives.

It's a really bad idea to post your email addresess - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.
This is a user-to-user forum and no-one on here can take any direct action. If your Yahoo address is not working that's something you would need to take up with Yahoo - have you checked it by sending yourself an email to it?
