HT2208 what software programs needed

Just bought Apple TV for my early 2011 MacBook Pro.  When I go on Apple TV there is a column on the right side showing words in black and white;  movies, tv show, pictures, settings, etc.  On settings it reads SW version 2.2.1 (314).  Does that mean something?  When I bring up tv shows it only has short samples of select shows.  I can't bring up the full page with colored examples; movie choices, Hulu, etc.  Does my MacBook Pro need Mountain Lion to view the full page?  What do I do now?
Am using HDMI cable for MacBook Pro to HD TV and a HDMI cable from Apple TV to HD TV and all seems to be working fine.
Thank you,
Margie

The current Apple TV shipped with version 5. The 2nd Gen with version 4. The 1st gen stopped at version 3.0.2
To better clarify what you have
1st Gen
2nd and 3rd Gen

  • I need to update my macbook but I need to know what software program to buy to update it. I am operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8

I need to update my macbook but I need to know what software program to buy to update it. I am operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I want to be up to date on all software updates at the end.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store, and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

  • MSI 1950pro VIVO. What software I need for video-in?

    Hi.
I am currently using MSI radeon1950pro pcie card. It has VIVO connector too. I tried yesterday to plug my Playstation2 to the card as I dont have TV, well i didint get to play as i dont know what software i should use for that. I installed ati's suplied radeon1950 pro driver package. I also tried to install wdm driver, and some multimedia center stuff, which promptly notices that it will only work/install with all-in-wonder card.
I also tried with Dscaler and AMcap, but neither of them can find any video capture driver or so.
I would need to get analog videosignal opened in some program that can handle fullscreen mode, so I could play my Playstation trough my PC screen
Someone who has done something similar, or just done something with video in pls tell me what software I need..

    I have catalyst 6.11 installed.
I have also installed WDM driver, at least the installer goes trough.
I have installed also avivo decoders/encoder files from ati, in addition to this i have installed multimedia center, and some extra kits for it. Like dao/mac, dvd/dtv decoder and some encoder package. I have installed practically all files that i can find from ati.
Firstly i notice that multimedia center installation creates zero shortcuts, so finding this software is bit hard. Or if it did not install anything, the installer didint notify me, just quit .. cant be sure about this.
I have also installed Dscaler (tv viewer, that should be able to read video-in, atelast from nvidia cards). I have also installed microsoft media encoder, which is somekind stream capture tool / video encoding tool.
Problem is that no software detects that this card has VIVO.
I need to know how to get some damn driver installed so that the video-in comes as visible capture device and then some program to show it.
Is this somehow related to fact, that ati is offering different driver kit for 1950pro cards? I tried with those drivers yesterday, but they didint help at all.
    am I doing wrong?

  • How do I port my Windows Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files to the MAC?  What software is needed on the MAC to use them?  Thanks.

You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent!

I need to edit sections of several songs into a single track on a CD for a dressage test. Any ideas what software I need to get to achieve this?

Audacity 1.2.5 is an audio editor in which you can assemble and edit your recordings: it's free. I don't think it would burn CDs - you would have to reimport the finished recording into iTunes and burn from there.
Amadeus Lite is $24.99 in the Mac App Store and is in my opinion a better product: it can burn your audio CD directly.
If this is a one-off job you might as well use Audacity: if you are planning on doing this sort of thing at all often you would probably be better off either with Amadeus Lite or Amadeus Pro ($59.99) though this latter may well be over-specified for you as it includes multi-track editing.

  • What software is needed and how do I transfer a powerpoint presentation from my Macbook to my i pad?

what software is needed and how do I transfer a powerpoint presentation from my Macbook to my i pad?

You need an app that supports Powerpoint documents on your iPad e.g. Documents To Go (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/documents-to-go-office-suite/id317117961?mt=8 or the premium version http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/documents-to-go-premium-office/id317107309?mt=8). How to copy to that app is explained here http://support.dataviz.com/support.srch?docid=14497&pid=198 . I havn't got the app myself but I have seen other people recommend it.

  • What software is needed for system recovery? (cont'd)

What software is needed for system recovery of a Toshiba Satellite Pale8u-02p01D (also known as L355D-S7901) running Vista?
If I can just get the name/number for the recover software I will get it from eBay.
    Thanks!
    Solved!

    Satellite L355D-S7901
If you want to look for that on eBay, look for the recovery discs for the model above. I doubt you'll find them there.
You can order them from Toshiba, of course.
       Order Toshiba Recovery Media
And you might get them cheaper from a third-party vendor.

  • What is the way to edit a font?! and what software is needed?!

    Hi,
What software do I need to edit or create a font?!
I have the whole Adobe arsenal, but can't find information about it on the Adobe forums.
I see a lot of font editors online, but it's hard to recognize what's fake or good stuff.
    Please some good advice.
    Thanks David

Like Larry says, FontLab Studio is good although its interface is dissimilar to (cludgier than) Illustrator's and takes a bit of getting used to.
You can easily paste drawings from Illustrator.
It's necessary to include temporary ascender and descender height marks on all characters so that they align properly with each other.

  • What Software Is Needed?

Hi. I'm a consultant software developer. I have never used Oracle before, but I'm familiar with VB3 - VB6 and MS SQL Server 6.5 - 2000.
Today I received two .fmb files from a new customer, saying he uses Forms 5.0.6 Developer/2000 R2.1. I'm not sure which version Oracle DB he is using, but I should know soon.
What software do I need to buy for my Win2000 computer to be able to look at his code?
    Thanks.
    -- Mark

    Hi,
If all you want to do is look at the files, you can download the latest version of Forms from
    http://technet.oracle.com/software/products/forms/content.html
    A few hints:
Forms 5 is obsolete. The current version is 6i.
Do not work with the original files. Copy them first, then work on the duplicates.
If you open fmb files from Forms5 and save them, they will be upgraded to the latest version, and it will be impossible to open them again with Forms5.
Being a trainer myself, I must recommend you attend some kind of training on Forms (on-line or in classroom).
Oracle Forms Developer is very powerful, but not easy to learn, and it's very different from VB.
    Hope this helps,

  • I want to clone an internal windows disk to a larger disk in my G5 Pro. Would I have to do it from the Windows side and what software is needed?

I want to clone an internal windows 7 disk to a larger disk in my G5 Pro (2009) 2.93. Would I have to do it from the Windows side or can I do it from the mac side, and what software works for cloning if anyone knows.
    thorpug

We don't mix names G5 (IBM, PowerMac) and Mac Pro (Intel)
Depends what you actually are doing.
Do both Mac and Windows reside on same or separate drives?
For running a Mac utility, then WinClone 4 $39
Review was on http://www.macwindows.com two weeks ago
For Windows on its own drive and disk to disk, then Paragon HDM 12 is best.
You should visit Paragon, for imaging and cloning Windows as well as HFS+ drivers.

  • Unable to send or receive emails! When I first bought my Macbook I never paid for the mac mail. I have tried to find Mobile Me to no avail. What software program do I need to send emails??

Hi all! I bought my macbook pro around two years ago. I currently have the Snow Leopard operating system. I have just clicked on Lion to upgrade however I am aware that the Mac Mail required you to pay for it? I click on the mail link and it does not work i.e. the send button is greyed out. Please advise?

You don't need to pay anything extra for Apple Mail. You may need to pay extra money to Yahoo and/or Hotmail if you want to connect to them with a true e-mail client like Apple Mail. I would provide links for more information, but it appears to be not quite supported. I think it is a service for mobile applications that people on computers can connect to if they hack around a bit. Your ability to connect with Apple Mail depends on how much you want to hack around.
The easiest solution would be to wait a few weeks until Apple rolls out iCloud. Then you will be able to sign up for that instead of the defunct MobileMe.

  • What software is needed to read camera raw files from a Canon 5d mark III in elements 9?

Which camera raw software version do I need to down load in order to read mark 3 raw files in elements 9? Thank you for any help.

The camera requires at least Camera Raw 6.7. The latest version that is supported in Elements 9 is version 6.5. So, aside from upgrading to a newer version of Photoshop Elements, your alternative is to download and use the free DNG converter from Adobe. What operating system are you using?

  • What Software/Techniques Needed to Write Slide Show to DVD?

Created my first slide show of +/- 1,200 slides in PSE 4.0 slideshow. No problem there. I want to burn this slideshow to a DVD that I can use in a laptop or other computer to view the slideshow on other computers with DVD drives, not necessarily to view on a TV. PSE 4.0 Help file says: Select "File"; then "Output Slide Show"; then "Burn to disc"; then "Select DVD Option." I'm ok to step "Burn to disc," but then there is no "Select DVD Option." Only options at this point are to select video format (NTSC or PAL), and Output Speed. "Burn VCD on drive (Phillips DVD+RW-D28)" is pre-printed in the dialog box and cannot be changed. Inserted a DVD+RW in drive, clicked "OK," and this disk was immediately ejected with a pop-up box reading "Incompatible media. Please insert a blank CD-R or a CD-RW disk to burn the VCD". (1,200 slides will not fit on VCD.) One user suggestion to reboot the computer to see a DVD option on screen did not help. My OS System is Windows XP. Two programs installed on my computer with the DVD burner, that I believe are DVD authoring programs: MyDVD v.3.5, and PowerDVD v.4.0. Must I have Photoshop Premiere Elements 2.0, or some additional software (recommendation?) to create a "portable" slideshow to view on other computers?
    Would appreciate any help!

    >Must I have Photoshop Premiere Elements 2.0, or some additional software (recommendation?) to create a "portable" slideshow to view on other computers?
Glad that you added the fact that you want to play the DVD on other computers - it does make a difference. As the prior post indicated, you really do need Premeire Elements or Nero Vision Express or Sonic MyDVD to make the DVD to view on a TV DVD player.
However, there is something else that might work if all people who will watch this slide show have a DVD player on their PC/laptop and play it using Windows Meida Player 10. So I suggest that you try it on your PC.
    - In the slide show Editor of PSE 4, do your Output command to a WMV file on your hard drive.
    - Then use whatever DVD software came with DVD burner to burn this WMV file to a DVD as a data file (NOT as a video DVD). Choose an output resolution that will be good for the monitors of the recipients.
    - Next try to play this DVD on your system using Windows Media Player 10 (I don't know if earlier versions will play). I doubt that the software on your PC that plays commercial DVDs will play the WMV file; that is why I directed you to use Windows Media Player.
If you plan to distribute this to the general public, I think you will have problems with the recipients not having the necessary hardware or not understanding that they can't use their normal DVD player software. However if you are sending to a limited set of relatives and friends, it might work. If anyone has an Apple computer, I think there is software that will play a WMV file on Apple software, but it seems that many people may not have it.
    In closing I will say
    - be sure to save your slide show as a project so you can do multiple experiements (you may have already done this)
    - it would be much more flexible as to how it is played if you did make a video DVD. However, you actually have a choice of using higher resolutions if you only save as a WMV file for play on a computer.

  • A 5230 - what software is needed?

Just got a 5230 and was looking to download the software. I have read the posts about only having OVI and no need for the PC suite but what about the software updater?
One of the features of OVI Suite says about downloading and installing new software.
Also the 5230 does not seem to appear on many of the uk site where there is a list of all the devices.

Ovi store client  installed on to the device is enough for downloading and installing softwares from Ovi store, when it comes to Firmware update for device you need either Ovi suite or PCsuite with NSU(Nokia Software Updater). Firmware updates are released in two ways one via NSU and other via FOTA(*#0000#), link which you are referring to is meant for updates only to Ovi suite application which gets updates time and again for better performance and stability.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.
