HT2242 I can't read which is Edit or Preferences!!! duh! its in a foreign language!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Can someone please help as apple itunes support would not accept my serial number which I entered correctly.  Why does everything have to be sooooo difficult?  I downloaded itunes and unistalled and installed several times with the same problem.  Agreement comes up in a foreign language.  I must have clicked the right one but now I can't work out which is Edit and Preferences or know how I click on Australian english from the language on the screen. Please helppppppppp...................

"Edit" is the second menu counting from the left.
"Preferences" is the bottom item in the Edit menu.
In the leftmost preferences tab, go down to the drop down menu at the bottom of the tab. Counting from the top, English UK is the 8th entry in the list.
Click the leftmost of the two buttons in the bottom-right-hand corner of the tab. (That's the OK button.)
Now restart iTunes. Are you back in English?

  • Can I read Adobe-Digital-Edition books on my Android device?

Can I read Adobe-Digital-Edition books on my Android device?

Yes, You need to install compatible app.
Look at Bluefire and Aldiko for general use (including library books) and Overdrive app for library books.
There are also apps from some of the major booksellers.
For DRM books you need to make sure you register with the same AdobeID you use on the PC.
(For non DRM books, don't bother with ADE on any PC, use superior free Calibre instead, or download direct to device.)
You will need to copy any books using a file manager, not from ADE.

  • Can I Set Which "Adjustments" Come up Preferences?

I shoot raw and would like the raw adjustment and several others that I use consistently to come up along with the others when I click on the Adjustment Tab.  Can I set those in Preferences or some other way?

You can add each adjustment t the default set:
Click the cogwheel beside the name of an adjustment you added and then use the menu entry "Add to default set". If an adjustment is already part of the default set, you will see "Remove from Default set" instead.

  • Firefox 4 -- just downloaded and menu & top bars are in some strange language - not english. I can't seem to get to a tools menu to change the language because I can't read the top menu.

Just downloaded Firefox4 and can't read the top line menu because it's in some strange language with symbols instead of letters. How do I get it to display English in the top line menu?
If I could read the menu, I'd go to tools and see if there were an option to change the menu language, but since I can't read the menu choices, I'd only be pushing meaningless buttons.
    [email protected]

Thanks. I tried it and get the attached screen. I don't see anything which lets me change the language in the menu.
Before I give up completely & just stick with Chrome or IE, I'll bring my laptop which has a correctly configured version of firefox 4 side by side with my desktop & use it as a template for clicking on the correct gibberish lines. I still don't see an option for changing menu bar language, but I'll search around a bit.
It would help if I could get phone contact with someone at Mozilla, but they don't seem to list a phone number on their help page ----

  • My WD External Hard drive can be read and edited on my old macbook but not on my new

My WD 1TB hard rive can be read, edited and have files saved on it from my OLD Macbook Pro. I have recently got a NEW laptop and it can read the files on my hard drive but it cannot edit any of the files, change folders or move files in to different folders. The operating systems are the same on both laptops. I have tried this with other MacBooks and iMacs and there is the same issue.
My old laptop also very resently has stopped being able see my external hard drive at all now. I am not sure if my external hard drive is locked to my old laptop or if my new and other macs have a setting which stops them editing this external hard drive.
    Thanks

Go to the WD site - they have both support questions and answers and a users group that can help you with questions.

  • Which version shall I buy, if I need just reading, copying and editing texts?

Hello, I would like to ask you about a right version which shall I buy in order to have readable version with possibility of copying but also editing texts?
Is the right version Acrobat XI? Or is there another type? How much does cost the most basic version which also allows to edit texts inside the pdf document?
    Thank you.
    Barbora

For reading, you only need Reader. The editing (and typically copying) require Acrobat. However, you should download the trial version and try it first. Editing and such in Acrobat is a last resort operation, not an every day activity. Editing is often very difficult to get things right and they is why it should only be used for minor edits. Generally you do not have the features of an editor with word-wrap and such -- it is not really the goal of Acrobat. You can sometimes copy from Reader, but I don't know too much about Reader since this is the Acrobat forum. Acrobat may not meet your expectations and that is why I suggest trying the trial version.

  • What Floppy Drive can I use with Mountain Lion to read and write floppy which can be read by SE30 with 7.1

I want to File Exchange between an iMac with 10.8.4 and a SE30 with 7.1.
All I want to do is install some software, such as Word 5.1 and a Chess game and some Fonts.
I have an external USB Floppy Drive but my iMac can only write to it IF I format as FAT, if I format it with the SE30 it can only be read and not written onto by the iMac.
Is there a way I can actually format/read/write Macintosh extended (HFS+) with Mountain Lion?
The external USB Floppy is a generic black one I bought from Amazon last week.
Someone else said I should get a Macally USB Floppy Drive and that reads/writes HFS+ etc with 10.8 no problem.
Is this because the Macally was released along with the Bondi Blue iMac?
I have tried using Apple Exchange on my SE30 - recorded some files onto the FAT formatted Floppy, and read it using Apple Exchange, but when 'translating' the Files transferred over as generic files which were no longer Macintosh programs or Files (eg Word 5.1 application or extensions/ Font suitcases etc) and could not be read.
Is there a way round this?
Or is there any way I can mount/read/write from the generic USB Floppy DRIVE with Sheepshaver (with 7.5.3)?
Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

    >surely there must be some Terminal command or workaround for 10.8 to be able to Format in HFS?
Using dd to write an existing HFS disk image to a floppy may still work (but formatting/writing HFS from the operating system does not). You may want to compare this with the technique described in the article below. Obviously, this is only of interest if one wants to try creating floppies from certain (Disk Copy 4.2-style) downloaded 1.44 MB disk images.

    >If I got hold of an old iBook or Powerbook G4 (my sister has one) could I plug the USB Floppy drive I have into one of these and copy files over this way?
At least according to the following Wikipedia article, writing HFS has not been supported since Mac OS X 10.6. This should mean that your idea with the USB floppy drive connected to one of the older computers mentioned could work. BTW, I do not think that the USB floppy drive type/make/model is of importance in this very context.
Another idea could possibly be to use an even older intermediate computer for other file transfer methods (without a floppy).
A PowerBook 520/520c/540/540c could run Mac OS 8.1, if at all necessary. It has built-in Ethernet (an external AAUI to RJ-45 transceiver is used), which would allow TCP/IP connections over a network. A LocalTalk connection to the SE/30 can be established via a plain Macintosh MiniDIN-8M to MiniDIN-8M printer cable. With the correct SCSI cable/adapter, one could also use the PowerBook as an external hard disk for the SE/30 in SCSI disk mode.
A PowerBook 5300 can run Mac OS 8.1 or higher, if necessary. It does not have built-in Ethernet, but a PC Card (PCMCIA) network card can be used. Furthermore, with an inexpensive PC Card adapter for CompactFlash and a CompactFlash memory card, the computer would have a simple removable "hard disk". The CF card (in Mac or PC format) can be read by a modern computer (a USB reader may be needed), making it ideal for file transfers. LocalTalk can be used here too, and so can SCSI disk mode (HD target mode).

  • How can I convert a .pdf file to an Indesign CC file which is editable?

How can I convert a .pdf file to an Indesign CC file which is editable?

    Hi btacme,
I understand there are some third-party utilities that will allow you to convert a PDF to an InDesign file. But, as PDF is intended to be a final format, Adobe doesn't offer this capability. Are you unable to make the edits that you need by opening the PDF in Acrobat?

    Jay,
As taken from the [iPhone user manual|http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhoneUserGuide.pdf]:
You can view attachments in both portrait and landscape orientation. If the format of an attached file isn’t supported by iPhone, you can see the name of the file but you can’t open it. iPhone supports the following email attachment file formats: .doc, .docx, .htm, .html, .pdf, .txt, .xls, .xlsx
At this time, there is no way to edit documents on the iPhone.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

Transfer them to your harddisk immediately.
External drives are not offiially supported and the source of errors of all kinds including complete loss of files.

  • I can't read documents sent to me in Adobe.   I had changed some setting but don't remember which on

I can not read Adobe documents.   I changed the settings to try to send something to someone so they could view it in Windows.   Now I can't change it back

    Okay, thet helps.
You can't convert a PDF with Reader. It doesn't have that capability. There IS a service online for that (ExportPDF), but that wouldn't cause what you describe.
A PDF is what's called a "post script" or "printed" document. It's composed basically the same way a document is sent to your printer - as "unicode". Reader and Acrobat have the translators to interpret the unidcode and display it as text in the pages. Microsoft Office Word doesn't do that. If you try to open a PDF with Word, it's just a bunch of garbled characters. So the PDF needs to be saved for Word or "converted". There are two ways to do that.
    1. Subscribe to the ExportPDf service through Adobe.com (https://www.acrobat.com/exportpdf/en/convert-pdf-to-word.html)
    2. Purchase (or download a 30 day trial of) Acrobat Standard or Porfessional which CAN convert the PDF. (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html?promoid=JOLIR)
Both of those aren't really necessary and would be frivolous since Reader, as I stated in my first post, opens PDFs in Windows, Mac and Linux universally, and since Reader is free, anyoine can install it to view PDFs regardless of the original source.
As to your specific issue; it would seem that you may have changed a file association for PDFs. That can be easily undone. All you need to do is right click a PDF and chose "Properties".
Under the General tab, to the right of "Opens with" it shows the default program to open PDFs... it probably shows something other than Reader right now, but there's a  Change" button. Click it and... if Reader ISN'T in the list of recommended programs, click "Browse" and navigate to C/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader (it'll be in Program Files (x86) if your Vista is 64 bit). Select AcroRd32.exe as the default program to open PDFs, by clicking "Open", clicking "OK" and clicking "Apply" to set the default for ALL PDFs.

How can i Read a book from my Mac (in digital editions) to my iPad 2

iPad's aren't supported by ADE.  Some folks have been able to use iTunes to
do the transfers, and others have used Bluefire reader.
