HT2265 sync photos to apple tv
im trying to Sync photos via iTunes to my apple tv (1st generation), but i dont have the option "Sync photos from: ...", the only thing that appears is "share photos...." please help!!
I am experiencing the exact same problem. I was momentarily able to get the Apple TV to start syncing photos after I moved them all to the public folder in Vista (I thought maybe sharing permissions were a problem), but the problem has no recurred. I can see all the movie and TV content and can sync those files, but it will not sync photos. I have attempted a full reset of the Apple TV to factory condition and started from scratch without resolving the problem.

According to iTunes the iPhoto album I selected is showing as synced on the status bar, but ATV say's there are no photos synced to ATV. Any ideas?
ColinI am having the same problem. In the iTunes library's "Apple TV" section the "sync photos" is set up correctly. When I sync it it shows memory being used for photos on the Apple TV. When I turn off and then on "sync Photos" the status bar at the top clearly shows the photos being sent to the Apple TV, but they are not there when I go to "photos" on the Apple TV. It tell me to set up photo syncing in iTunes.
I have tried restarting, and even resotring to factory and redownloading the 3.0 software. ??? -
Problem syncing photos with Apple TV and iPod
Ever since I connected my Apple TV I have had problems syncing photos with both my iPod and my Apple TV.
The Apple TV gives me an error (no desciption) when I try to sync photos. The iPod gives me an error 39.
iPhotos is working fine. I rebuilt the library using the rebuild library feature and this has not fixed the problem.
I also rebuilt my iTunes library without success in fixing the problem.
How does it sync? Is there some kind of syncing file I need to delete that may be corrupt?
Does anyone have any ideas about what I could try?Just a suggestion,

I have all of my photos stored on an external hard drive and cannot get atv to sync them. This used to work but since upgrading to leopard I can no longer sync the photos on the external hard drive. The sync symbol is rolling in itunes and I get no error message or symbol, but the photos are not on atv. Has anyone had trouble syncing photos stored on an external hard drive?
I have tried turning off all firewalls with no luck. Then I tried setting all firewalls to specifically allow I-Tunes, still no luck. My photos are stored in separate files on the external hard drive but I am not sure how to check permission on the external hard drive. And I am not sure about creating a second library. How would I do this?

Let's say I lost my photos from iPhoto, but I synced them to my Apple TV. Can I tell the Apple TV to sync my photos back to iPhoto?
I know you can sync music back from an iPod.
Thank you.No you cannot readily transfer anything you have synced to the tv back to the mac/pc, you can only transfer purchases.

ITunes sync hangs only when syncing photos to Apple TV
I just got an Apple TV, and updated it to the last software v2.4; iTunes is also running latest v 9x.
I have a large library and the first sync took a long time but it got done successfully.
But when I select images I want to sync in the 'photos' tab in iTunes for my ATV and then run sync, iTunes hangs on "Syncing Apple TV" - it just spins for hours without doing anything - nothing gets synced. If I deselect Photos completely, sync works normally - this is true for either auto or custom sync modes.
Is this a known issue? If anyone has experienced this issue and has a suggestion on a fix, it would be welcomed. I've searched the forums and can't seem to find anything that would be a fix on this.
Thanks!So I tried a sync with the ATV with only 1 folder of photos selected from my 'my pictures' folder which is populated only with a few jpeg format images.
Same problem - itunes just stays in 'syncing apple tv' mode, the sync activity icon keeps spinning but nothing actually transfers. I had to cancel out of the sync.
One thing I noticed which is odd, is that no matter which or how many folders I might happen to select in the folders list view, the number '390' appears beside the selected folder to the far right of the selected folder. I assume that is a representation of the # of images contained in that folder that's been selected, but I know each of the selected folders don't have precisely 390 images each.
This smells like a bug. -
ITunes freezes on exit and does not sync photos to Apple TV 2
Is anyone experiencing the following problem: as of recently i have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del every time to exit from iTunes as the software always freezes on exit? Also, around the same time it no longer syncs my pictures to my Apple TV2.
Any suggestions how I can fix this? I've re-installed iTunes from scratch several times.I am only running Windows 7 Firewall.
Okay ... let's try making sure that iTunes is listed as an exception in your firewall, as per:

While in there, make sure also that BonJour is being allowed full access to your network.
If they are already both listed there, try removing the current exception and then replace them with new exceptions.
(Sometimes, especially after an update of the software in question, firewall rules can "go off," so we're just trying to make sure that that hasn't happened to you.) -
I can't modify synced photos or album on my iPod touch 5
I can't delete synced photos or synced albums from my iPod. I can't add mobile photos to my synced photos or synced album on my iPod either. I synced photos from my computer to my iPod. I threw away my old computer when I bought a Macbook Pro. I want to delete my previously synced photos from my old computer. How can I unsynced the photos now? Can I ask Apple to allow synced photos to be deleted from the iPod? Can I also ask Apple to allow me to add more photos on my iPod to the album of synced photos?
Apple has not said why they do not allow deleting synced photos/albums directly from the iPod. You either have to unsync them or use a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView.
You can do this and just not copy the synced photos to the computer via a third-party program -
My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?
I had the same thing happen to me. It's a bug in iPhoto 9.4.2.
The first time you run iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2, it "updates the iPhoto library". This sometimes tickles a bug where iTunes can see all your iPhoto albums, but iTunes thinks they are empty. Since iTunes thinks all your albums are empty, it dutifully deletes any photos from your synced iOS devices.
It's easy to tell if this is the problem you are seeing. Open iTunes and go to the photos sync panel for one of your iOS devices. If you have multiple albums checked, but iTunes shows a total of 0 photos, then you have the problem.
I spent an hour with an Apple Genius. he couldn't find any mention of this problem in their internal support system. His recomendation was to reinstall the operating the system. I suspect that this won't solve it.
The only solution I have found is to restore iPhoto 9.4.1 and the corresponding iPhoto library from your backups.
I would refrain from upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2 until Apple has a fix for this issue. -
I used my Apple tv (1st generation) to load films on iTunes and then sync to my Aplle tv. In iTunes I now can only see Summary and Photos and therefore lost the ability to load a film and then sync to the Apple tv. Anybody else experienced this with ? Cannot find any options to resolve this.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your library has become a secondary (streaming only) library only (it is possible to turn syncing off by ctrl-clicking on the Apple TV listing in the device list and choosing 'Turn Off Syncing" from the contextual menu) and you need to reconnect your library as a primary library.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can sync it back afterwards, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted. -
I am a new apple/ipad user and trying to transfer photos to my new ipad2 from my windows pc using itunes. The pictures all transfered to my ipad in one very large folder (My Pictures) on the ipad2 instead of the multipule folders that were on my pc. Do I have to re sort all of them into folders on the ipad2 or is it possible to sync the seperate folders to the ipad2?
Create main folder e.g. Folder A, then sub-folders inside A e.g. B, C, D and have your Photos in B, C, D.
In iTunes Sync, click your device on the left Pane, then on right pane select "Photo" tab.
Make sure Sync photo box is checked, then select folder A, then All folders box within the selection.
Click Apply or Sync button at the lower right window.
you will have B,C,D folders under Albums. -
Unable to sync photos from iPhoto to Apple TV
I am using iphoto5.0.4 and am unable to sync photos. I select the photo album and click on the "apply" button which greys out for a while and then reverts. When I click on "my photos" in Apple TV I get the message that "There are no photos on your Apple TV." The ATV is able to stream photos from my Powerbook G4 just fine. When I go to "Screen Saver" on the ATV it is only able to access Apple Photos. I upgraded the ATV software without effect. What am I doing wrong?
On the tv you should have selected 'settings/computers/connect to itunes library', I think you likely selected 'settings/computers/connect to shared library'. You may have to select your current shared library and unlink it before you can set it up properly but I'm not too sure as I've not had to do it myself.

Syncing photos from Aperture to Apple TV
I have first generation Apple TV to which I sync music and photos from an iMac using a wireless connection.
Until recently I used iPhoto. Now I have installed Aperture and cannot get this to sync.
The dropdown menu says "Sync photos from:..."

How do I get Aperture to appear in the menu?Syncing works by copying selected content to the tv HDD, after which you no longer need any connection to itunes to be able to play this content.
Selection is made either manually or automatically in your sync options within itunes depending on which you choose, automatic sync will sync things like the most recent unwatched items for you.
Anything that isn't synced to the tv can be watched through the streaming of content from your itunes library on your mac/pc, so for streaming to work, you need itunes to be running. -
Gen1 Apple TV. Can't get my photos (jpeg) on my PC to My Photos on Apple TV. PC and Apple TV appear to be synched. When I go to itunes devices for the TV I have two tabs ( Settings & Photos ). I've check the box for Share Photos From: and selected the folder on my PC. The photos are not showing up in My Photos on the Apple TV?
The way you have it set up they will show under shared libraries not where you are looking.
