HT2275 Sharing Printer from one MacBook to another

I am trying to share a printer from one MacBook to another. One machine is running OS 10.9.1, the other is running 10.7.5. In the "Add Printers" dialog box of System Preferences, no shared printers on my home network are appearing on the 10.9 machine. What do I do to get them to appear?

In System Preferences / Sharing, make sure you have checked Printer Sharing on both computers.

  • How do i transfer iTunes  from one Macbook to another?

    Hello.
How can I transfer my itunes account from one Macbook to another.  They are not in the same household for sharing etc.
    Please advise.

Are you trying to transfer the content or just the user?  Transferring the user is pretty easy, transferring the content is a littel more involved.  To transfer the user alone, just sign into iTunes on the new computer with your same user name.  Easy as that.  To transfer the content, follow these instructions:

  • How do I transfer some folders of photo from one macbook to another? I do not want the complete library right now

How do I transfer some photos from an external harddrive (with backup data from one macbook) to another macbook? Ideally, I'd also like to transfer albums as well that photos are linked to.  I need to do this because my macbook is broken and I need to work on photos for the holidays.  I'm not interested in transferring the full library necessarily at this time..but if that is the easiest thing to do let me know.  There are already some photos in the "new" computer's iphoto.

Thank you very much Terence for your input.  I successfully transferred the library and attempted to open it on my "new" mac.  However, unfortunately, I discovered the OS and iphoto have not been updated for some time so it couldn't open..argh.
My photos were in a 9.4.3 version of iPhoto, so it looks like to get that on this new computer I have to upgrade to snow leopard and then to Lion (not wanting to go all the way up in OS necessarily if it will slow my computer down more).  However, is there a way to open a version 9.4.3 library on an iPhoto app from snow leopard?

  • Moving HP P1102W Printer from One Address to Another Address

I have defined the above-mentioned printer to my Hp ePrint account and have an hpeprint.com email address for the printer.
I have also used this hpeprint.com email address in my Google Cloud Print account.
If I move from one address to another address, can I keep the same hpeprint.com address for this printer,
and will HP ePrint be able to find the printer at the new address with the same hpeprint.com email address?
Or do I have to remove the printer from Google Cloud Print and my HP ePrint account,
and do I have to Remove Web Services from the printer and then re-Enable Web Services to get a new printer code,
and then re-add the printer to my HP ePrint account and get a new hpeprint.com emaill address for the printer,
to also re-add to my Google Cloud Print account?
I am using Windows XP SP3.
    Thank you.

    Hey Faye613,
You should not have to re-setup the Web Services on the printer when you move physical addresses.  Once you have the printer at the new location and setup on the new network the printer will connect out to the Web Services server where everything will be connected back up.  The old ePrint information should still remain and be tied to the P1102w.
    Hope this helps,
    Jason

  • Can't change printer from one account to another

    Hi,
I seem to be stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place.
    Here's the situation:
    1. My old e-mail account used originally to sign in to the HP eprint center has been deleted by the e-mail provider (MSN). It can't be recreated because MSN will now only allow me to create an e-mail account with @hotmail.com or @outlook.com and not @msn.com.
    2. So, I created a new e-mail address (with @hotmail.com)
    3. I then  used the new e-mail address  to create a new account on the HP eprint center.
    3. I can't add my printer to the new HP eprint center account because it is still associated or linked to the old HP eprint center account that uses the now deleted msn e-mail account.
So, I seem stuck at this point.
How do I either access my old account and replace it's deleted e-mail address with the new one, or how do I switch the printer from the old account to the new account when I can't sign in to the old account to first remove it there?
    Thanks for your help!
    Kobe Zhang

    Hi Kobe Zhang
    Option 1:
Your MSN account might be deleted but the eprintcenter wont be deleted along with it.
You should be still able to login to eprintcenter account using the old msn id and the same old password for eprintcenter account which you used regularly.
If you have forgot the password, i dont know how can you recover it.
If you get a chance to login then you can remove the printer from the old account and then claim it in your new account created usign hotmail ID.
If you are not worried about changing your printers email ID, here is option 2.
One more option is to de register the printer and register it again to cloud to get a new email address which can be used to claim the printer in your new account and then customize your email ID there. But be aware that you might not be able to set the same customised email ID which you have used in your old account.
    Kind Regards,
    Olilloyd

  • Flipping harddrive from one Macbook to another, good idea? or....

I have 2 macbooks one a core duo w/ 120gb HD, other is a core 2 duo w/ 80GB hd. Both running leopard. Most of my important stuff is on the 120 HD and I am considering selling the it. I can just flip harddrives and put the 80 gb in the core duo and the 120 in the Core 2 duo?
    Problems?
    thanks.
    John

The only potential issue I can see is that the system installation will install specific drivers for one machine or the other, so you might not be able to start up one Macbook from the other's startup disk. You can easily test this if you have a Firewire cable - join the two, restart one while holding down the T key (to put it into Target mode), then restart the other holding down the Option key, and see if you can restart from the other's drive. (You might want to give your hard drives different names first if they're both still called "Macintosh HD").
If Target mode works, then there's no reason you can't swap them.

  • Can apple move data from one macbook to another?

Migration Assistant will work, but Setup Assistant is much better.

  • Can I transfer time machine image from one MacBook to another if both have same OS version and both have same size hard drive?

I purchased a MacBook Pro in December 2010.  Got it with 500GB, 7200 RPM hard drive.  Used Time Machine to create back up. Gave the computer to my son last week and just purchased a new generation MacBook Pro with the same hard drive as old Mac.  I have had issues with bootcamp on new Mac so I removed the partition and now new Mac will not boot without holding down Option key. I know I can do a re-install of the OS.   But, can I use the Time Machine back up from the old Mac to restore the new Mac to look just like the old Mac?  Partition and all?  I did have bootcamp working just fine on the old Mac.  Put lots of software on it that I now don't have on the new Mac (but would like to have).  So, am I just hopeful or can I use the Time Machine back up from the old Mac to restore my my Mac?  If so, how do I do it.  I am a recent PC convert who is pretty good on PC, but a babe in the woods on my Mac.

No.  Time Machine won't get your boot camp partition back.  There are excellent utilities that move entire hard drive contents among hard drives such as SuperDuper! and CCC, but as far as I know they don't work with boot camp partition.  My suggestion: reinstall Mac OSX on your new Mac (you don't want to hold Option key to start it everytime anyway), partition it with boot camp exactly (or similarly) as you did to your previous Mac (install the same operating system, which should be one of the Microsoft Windows I assume).  Use Migration Assistant as kaz-k suggested to move all the stuff on the Mac partition of your previous Mac.  Reboot both your Macs from the boot camp partition - I assume they are all on Windows platform.  Now you have two computers on Windows platform.  Use Norton Ghost or similar tools to migrate all the stuff from your old machine to your new machine.  Hope this helps.  Backup all your data before such operation.  Good luck.

  • Can I switch harddrives from one macbook to another macbook?

I have a macbook early 2008 and I want to switch my harddrive to a macbook late 2008. Can I just unplug the current harddrive to new one? Is there anything I need to do to prepare? I've seen the video how to replace a harddrive for a macbook 2008 unibody but I want to know what I have to do afterwards? Or can I just turn it on?

You should have no problem with Snow Leopard. However, the version of Leopard on the Late 2008 model was 10.5.4.
You can run the Early 2008 model from Leopard 10.5.3 or later. That means if you have 10.5.4 on the Late 2008 MB drive then swapping will be fine.

  • Swapping hard drive from one MacBook to another

I'll spare you the gory details, but my daughter broke the screen on her 2.0 Core Duo MacBook, one of the original ones. It has a 250 gb hard drive that I put in to replace the small stock drive. We are replacing this MacBook with a new one, a 2.0 Core 2 Duo. What I would like to do is simply swap out the hard drive from the old and out it in the new one. The old one does have Leopard. Is there any reason this would not work? Thanks.
(Also, is there any market anywhere for a MacBook that works fine except for the broken screen?)

You may need to run Leopard install again on the drive when it's in the new MacBook. There will be some drivers and stuff that won't be on there that the new one needs. You could probably just do an upgrade to do this.
(Also, is there any market anywhere for a MacBook that works fine except for the broken screen?)
You could consider keeping it and hooking it to an external monitor and use it that way as a spare computer.
You could also look online at some of the MacBook repir shops and see if they buy broken MacBooks for parts.

  • Migrating data from one MacBook to another problem

I tried to transfer my account with all data protected by file vault from MacBook Air with 10.5.8 to a new MacBook Pro using migrating tool. After the transfer was completed i couldn't access my account on my new MacBook. When i try to reset password the system accepts my old master password but wouldn't accept a new one - the window's just shaking and goes back to empty. Anyone else had/has similar issue?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Copying windows partition from one macbook to another

My wife has a work laptop and a home laptop, both macbooks. Is it possible to move the windows partition from her work laptop to her home laptop, so that she can use 1 computer instead of two different ones?
I've seen that winclone is a method for cloning the bootcamp partition. Anyone want to give advice about how to go about doing this?
I think I need to go into Bootcamp setup to make a partition first on her home macbook.
I also need to clone the work macbook windows partition.
Any other hints, tips, links and instructions to get the partition to work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Been a month, so I assume you've gotten it done. If not:
Get Winclone (free). Run it and backup to an external Mac-format drive (not Win-format drive).
On new computer make a partition (with Boot Camp Assistant) the same size or larger as the partition on orig drive.
Run Winclone on new computer and do a Restore to the Bootcamp partition you just made.
Should work, but don't do it without a sure 2nd backup, and don't wipe the first computer until the 2nd one is running. Winclone is sometimes a little flakey.

  • How do I move mailboxes from one macbook to another

I purchased a new imac and have  amacbook pro. on the pro email server, all the email is organized in mailboxs/folders (On my mac).
How do I replicate them onto my imac?
    Thanks,

    From a previous thread:
Touch and hold any icon for a couple of seconds. They'll all start to wobble. Touch and drag the one you want to move to the side of the screen and the next screen will appear; drop the icon on whatever screen you want it on.
You can also do it quicker in iTunes - connect the phone and click the Apps tab in the main window. You'll see a picture of your phone with the apps laid out. Just click and drag
