HT2280 apple tv not displaying in devices

have a apple tv 1st gen and is not diplaying in devices, have done factory reset and still not on.
please can any one help

It only appear in Devices when it is paired to sync or stream OR whe you are in teh process of configuring itunes to pair it.
If you have reset it, it will have forgotten teh settings to pair to itunes and won't appear.
Have you tried re-adding a pairing to itunes under Settings>Computers on AppleTV?

I have ABP running on FF 3.0.1 and it doesn't block anything on that page. I don't have a filter set up for it. When I put my cursor on the ABP icon it says "0 blocked out of 96"
Perhaps the O.P. might try re-installing Firefox?

Apple mail not displaying properly

My first time in this forum. Hopefully, you can help. I am having a problem in Apple Mail in Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3.
Some e-mails from the same sender appear fine with images and links properly displayed, yet other times I only see text with underlined links. For example, I receive promotional e-mails from Land's End (a retailer in the U.S.) with images of the items. Some e-mails display perfectly and others are as below in the cut and paste. (I have noticed the problem frequently with Google news alerts.)
Any idea of what settings I should change? I am very confused because some mails arrive fine, and others are like below.
P.S. I am a new user of iMac, so please be patient if I do not understand well your instructions.

Thanks for your suggestion. I do not think your proposed solution will work for me.
1) In my desperation, I erased my hard drive and even reformatted it (with the help of Apple Care). I then opened Apple Mail with a completely clear hard drive and system. The problem still occurred. For that reason, I do not think it is the INBOX.mbox file that caused the problem.
2) My iMac that is less than a month old is now in the repair shop. It apparently has a faulty logic board and USB port. Hopefully, the Apple Mail will work after those parts are replaced.

Re-installed OS X 10.4, now AppleTV will not display in device list

I recently re-installed OS X Tiger on my PB 12". I restored the iTunes library, but am unable to find the AppleTV in the devices list. I removed the connection to iTunes from the previous OS install, but it still doesn't display. I am wary to completely reset the AppleTV, because I have two movies downloaded that we haven't watched yet. Will they remain in the download list so they can download again if I do completely reset the AppleTV?

Well, that isn't the globe I was hoping for. What you see is the spinning colored ball, that means your Mac is still processing (in this case hung).
Did you try starting in Safe Mode? Did that work?
Did you run Repair Disk from your DVD? Did that work?
What makes you think your drive is failing? One more thing you should try is running is Apple Hardware Test:
If CD's came with your computer it is on a CD labeled "Hardware Test" To test with CD, insert the CD and restart holding the "c" key until you see the spinning gear.
If DVD insert DVD then:
1. Turn on or restart the computer.
2. Immediately press and hold the Option key. After a few seconds, the Startup Manger screen appearsThe Startup Manager scans for available volumes.
3. Optional: Clicking the circular arrow rescans for other volumes, including NetBoot Server volumes. You can eject any disc in the drive or open an empty tray-loading drive by holding down the Command (Apple) and Period (.) keys. The Command-Period key combination will also close the drive. After inserting a CD capable of starting up your computer, you could rescan for volumes.
4. Click the startup volume you want to use. "Hardware Test"
If hardware test does not mount or does not run bring the computer to Authorized Apple Repair.

My iPhone4 does not display under Devices in iTunes

I don't know if my iPhone 4 got overheated due to the recent power failure, but I charged it the other day and have been trying unsuccessfully to connect to iTunes ever since. My Mac does not recognize my phone - it doesn't open iPhoto or iTunes when I plug it in, and it does not appear in the list of devices. I used the same USB cable I have always used for my iPod and iPhone - my iPod appears but my iPhone does not. Additionally, I now must turn the phone off in order to charge it (it is at nearly 100% right now). The iOS is 5.1.1, up to date according to the phone.
I've tried the following (most of which were under the link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591) with no success:
Using a different USB cable: the second cable worked with my iPod but not my iPhone
Using a different USB jack: the second cable worked with my iPod but not my iPhone
Resetting all settings on the phone (a few times) - I'm afraid to Reset All Content and Settings as I'm afraid I won't be able to get them back
Quitting iTunes and getting back in
Restarting my Mac
Reinstalling iTunes
Also, I thought Devices used to show in the iTunes sidebar, even if nothing was connected - now I can see Library, Store, Genius and Playlists, but Devices does not appear unless my iPod is plugged in. I tried leaving my iPod plugged in, and plugging my iPhone into another USB jack but still nothing.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I no longer am under AppleCare. Thank you.

Finally what worked? I removed all the Apple software files from my PC. Rebooted my PC. Downloaded iTunes afresh, saved and run it. Ah..ah.. my iPad was under the devices this time and it synchronised well. I am happy. Thanks

Emails not displayed on device. Receiving KEY_REQUEST without intervention.

configuration:
Blackberry Enterprise Server Exchange, several BB devices.
During the middle of the night emails are recieved until a certain point on a 8100. After that, no new emails are displayed anymore. No user intervention at that (night)time. The connection to the device is stil maintained as seen in the BB server console and in the log files. Replacing the device with a brand new one gives the same result. The sim is the same. This happens every 14 days. Only solution found yet is to regenerate key from the BB device.
Perhaps somebody can have a look at the log files. Any suggestions to overcome sending this nightly request or at what time this might be generated?

Regenerating a key from the BB device solves the problem. Only disadvantage: it occurs every 4 weeks, independent of doing a regeneration in between.

OS X Mountain Lion - Apple mail not displaying images

Ever since upgrading to OS X Mountain Lion a few weeks ago, Apple Mail no longer displays images in emails. I have downloaded and installed the latest Java RTE [it was out of date] - that didn't fix it. I have tried to reset my Java preferences to their defaults - that didn't fix it.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, have you found a solution?

I have exactly the same problem although its not for every email. My email provider is gmail. If I forward an email to someone else, they have no problem viewing the images. Very annoying. Checked with my gmail account and these are not classed as spam.

Apple TV not displaying "Top Movies" Thumbnails in Main Menu

Ok, so I have the latest updates and have done the following:
1. Have restarted my Apple TV multiple times-no change.
2. Have reset my Apple TV multiple times-no change.
3. Have restored once by connecting it to my macbook and restoring via iTunes-no change.
Note: if I restart, the thumbnails reappear, but once the Apple TV powers off, the thumbnails "disappear" from the main menu about 80% of the time. The TV Show tumbnails display correctly in the main menu without any issues, along with tumbnails "in" Netflix and all other apps.
Any ideas?

Finder does not display external devices

Today when I woke up, and turned on my macbook, and connected my time machine and 'general use' disk, they didn't appear on the desktop. Not in the finder under devices either. According to terminal they're both mounted. Other programs can access files on the disks. Time machine cannot seem to backup however, and spotlight indexing also seems to fail on the other disk.
I can still access files on them through spotlight (although I didn't remember the name of any file on the time machine disk, so no good there), and thus eject one of them by dragging the window icon into the trash can.
The time machine disk is USB, and the other one Firewire. I have never had this problem before, and Leopard has worked just fine two days before this.

Go to Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

Folders Panel is not displaying the Devices correctly

I need some help for one of my students.
She has a Mac Book and an external hard drive.
She can see the external hard drive as a device in the Finder Window
But when she goes into Lightroom, it displays the external hard drive as a "Volumes" folder listed under the Mac Internal hard drive.
I am trying to find out why it does not want to list it as its own hard drive

If you click the Import button in the LR Library (bottom left) does the ehd display correctly? There needs to be a least one folder with pictures imported into LR, for it to be recognized.
Otherwise the problem may relate to the Mac HD root folder if pictures were originally imported from that location using:
Import >> Add
The problem doesn’t usually arise if bringing in photos from a camera or storage card to be copied to a folder on the ehd using:
Import >> Copy

Apple Mail not displaying message content

Since the last few days, Apple Mail has suddenly stopped displaying message content in the message body pane. If you want to read an email, you either have to double click it to open it in its own window or else Quit Mail and reopen, which works for a while. This problem has started just 2-3 days ago. Any suggestions?

This is a real problem that I have been experiencing in the browser while checking mail. I will log into iCloud adn when I click on an email, only part of the email will display. On the iPhone, the email displays fine. it's only when I log into iCloud from a desktop broswer that I am experiencing this problem. This is not good and should be fix...please. This has been going on for more than a few days. Is there someone we should alert.

Apple TV not apearing as device in Itunes

I wonder if you could help. I'm not a computer whizz so all responses will have to be in plain english !
I have been using apple TV linked to my g5 foor several months now with no problems.
But the last few weeks when i have tried to sync with my computer the device is not appearing in itunes. The netwok is still fine as I can view moview previews, utube etc.
I have tried all the methods in the apple tv support but still nothing
I have a mac book pro and the device appears in that, but i don't want to sync with this computer as it does not have all my music i want to stream and all the photos i want to sync
I have now completly reset my apple tv so there is nothing on it but still it does not appear in my itunes.
HELP !!

IMHO, most problems of this nature are related to network settings, the difficulty of course being which network settings and with devices from a whole array of suppliers it's often not easy to pinpoint a common problem.
There does however seem to be a common issue after applying an itunes upgrade, where the upgraded itunes is seen by the tv as a new itunes library and not the one it is linked to, but itunes seems to recognise the tv as the one it has been linked to all along. The fix for this is to go to the 'sources' menu on the tv select 'syncing' and choose 'change itunes library' and enter the new pass code you are given into itunes.

I even tried the same approach for default people picker field in a list. Restricted the field to SP group using 'Choose From' option. It also behaves in the same way, not

field doesn't enumerate the users contained in the Active Directory group for any matches

/mydevices URL not displaying all devices

We’re having an issue where the URL https://macserver.domain.com/mydevices not showing all the devices, although /profilemanager is? Any suggestions?
Server Details – Mountain Lion last updates I believe.
NOTE - The /mydevices page was working and all of a sudden most the devices have disappered.

Are we going to have to start enrolling all the devices again?
If this is the case then we'll probably just configure Apple configurator.

Apple apps not displaying properly in virtual Mountain Lion

I have 13" MacBook Pro 2.4 that came with Snow Leopard. I have found that it does not perform really well with Mountain Lion (although 8GB RAM and 7200rpm HD) so I decided to switch back to SL. I also own Parallels and it lets me use the ML download image to set up a new virtual os, which I can then use to run iBooks Author.
However, iBooks Author and iWork apps do not render in virtual ML. In the attached screenshots, you can see that the interface is there, but the content of the application is not showing up. Other applications like Safari perform just fine. So far, only iBA and iWork apps are affected.(Screenshots are from Parallels so they are of the virtual os)
I know this is a virtual ML issue cause I have ML on a separate partition that works just fine when booted into it. I am assuming this is a graphic card specific issue, where Parallels is unable to match the hardware graphics exactly.
I'd be happy to receive your comments and feedback to find a remedy to this situation, as I do not want to switch between partitions just to use iBooks Author.

This issue extends to other Apple apps like Preview, which will not render when run in virtualization. I use Snow Leopard virtualized in Lion and I always make sure I use Preview in Lion and not virtualized Snow Leopard.
I believe this issue is discussed on the Parallels support forum, but with no satisfactory solution for now...
They may also balk at offering you support as they do not officially support virtualizing Mt. Lion in Parallels in Snow Leopard. I may have raised the issue on their support forum suggesting the problem was in virtualizing Snow Leopard Server in Lion, which they do officially support.
Try a search of the Parallels Support forum...
You could partition your hard drive and install Mountain Lion in that partition (or use an external hard drive) and use the "dual-boot" method as a workaround to your problem. Of course, in this situation, you lose the ability to run Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion concurrently.
Finally, you could reinstall Mt. Lion and then run Snow Leopard in Parallels, but it seems from your comments that this suggestion will not work for you. This solution is primarily for those Lion/Mt. Lion users who need concurrent use of PowerPC applications requiring Rosetta:
