HT2292 I have an Ipod tough 2nd generation. Had no problems syncing with old pc but cant on new. Have done troubelshooting as suggest & still nothing. Any ideas?

I have tried everything even uninstalling & reinstalling Itunes for the 64bit. All the troubleshooting steps provided in Itunes help. I still cannot get Itunes to recognize my Ipod or my computer to recognize it as a plugged in device. I am at my wits end. Does anyone have any ideas or had similar problem? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also was told to try to update the software but am unable to do that also. There is no update software option under the general settings on the ipod and since it won't sync I can't do it through Itunes either. Thanks in advance.

I am experiencing similar issues. iPod is recognized, brand new PC, have 8GB of memory and a 2TB HDD, and I keep getting an error saying I don't have enough memory and the iTunes library file can't be saved. Then the program will freeze up and I have to Ctrl/Alt/Delete to exit, and half my songs I checked are unchecked upon restarting.
I think it's an iTunes issue, not a hardware issue.
The problem is Apple simply doesn't care. I think they put bugs in the Windows versions to try to force customers onto their products.
I NEVER had this issue with the 32-bit versions of iTunes either.

IPod Tough (2nd generation) home screen wallpaper

I am really wondering why the ipod touch (2nd generation) can't have a background for the home screen. The ipod touch (1st generation) can have one when it is jailbroken. If it has the capability to have a home screen background, then why can't the 2nd generation have one without having to be jailbroken? It just doesn't seem right.

When iTunes is NOT running, does the shuffle show up on the Desktop, or appear in Disk Utility (when you run it)? Or, if you run System Profiler

If it is being recognized by the Mac in some way, you may be able to get it working again, using the iPod Reset Utility

This utility is for 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffles only, as a "lower level" reset when you can't do a regular Restore in iTunes.
If the Mac is not seeing the shuffle at all, there is probably a problem with the USB connection, probably the USB cable/dock or the connection point on the shuffle (headphone jack) becoming faulty. To rule out the USB port in the Mac, be sure to try different ports. If you have been using a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), be sure to try a direct port on the Mac. And be sure to try it with ALL other USB devices (except standard mouse and keyboard) disconnected, in case there is some USB device conflict happening.

I purchased an iPod Touch, 16GB, Generation 5 from Wal-Mart. I've tried everything from re-installing iTunes to rebooting the computer and iPod. However, even after clicking Trust, it won't fully trust my computer as well as iTunes isn't recognizing it. For reference, I'm using a Windows 8, Dell PC, and iTunes is fully up to date.
It will download music from the store on the device itself, and iTunes recognizes when the purchases are made on the device, but it still won't sync it.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I downloaded the newest version of iTunes on 9/14/14, and now it won't sync with my shuffle. After I connect it, it immediately says the iPod was synced, but it doesn't appear in the sidebar. I've tried restarrting my computer, resetting the iPod, using a different USB port - everything. This happened only after downloading the newest version of iTunes, so it has to be a glitch in the software.

Hey thanks ingo2711 :) for some reason it worked and my iPhone is been recognised! Yay! Ha ha :) I did what u suggested and removed iTunes completely from my computer then I also restarted my computer and proceeded to reinstall iTunes. I don't know if it helped but I also reset all settings on my iPhone as well :) I'm so happy right now lol thanks again :)

Try again and not if you can view the report before it is sent to Apple. That might have some information to help.
Also open the Console app (in Utilities folder) and loog for log entries at the time of problem. Copy any and post here
Additionally, have yo went to Tesco's support site to see if other are having this problem.
It might be due to a problem with Yosemite interacting with the sites.

IPod Touch 2nd Generation Wi-Fi Problem

So, my iPod touch Wifi is acting peculiar. It will connect for 10 minutes, then disconnect, until I restart the iPod. It drives me nuts! Any help is appreciated.

I am also having similar problems connecting to the internet web sites. Can not ping router.
However, I can ping my desktop pc and retrieve web pages from my internal web server.

IPod Touch 2nd Generation. Touching problem.

Bran new. Just finished syncing it and setting it up.
The Ipod screen has the small 'locked' symbol at the top and at the bottom it says "slide to unlock" However, it wont allow me to slide it, nothing happens. Not registering that I'm touching it.

Press and hold the Home button (on the front of the iPod) and the Sleep / Wake button (on the top of the iPod). Keep them pressed, ignore the slide off message, just keep them both pressed until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

HT1510 What are signs of needing a new battery for an iPod Shuffle 2nd generation?

I have an iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation that is about 4 years old. Sometimes it won't turn on, charge, and even not show up on my computer when it's plugged into it. I put it on the charging dock and sometimes the light won't even come on showing that it's charging. Could that be the battery or the iPod itself??
I hope someone can help me!! I am severely lost without my music!!!!!!

Did it previously work properly and reliably with this computer? If it did, and it does not now, and nothing else has changed, such as connecting new USB devices to the computer, or using the shuffle through a USB hub (instead of connecting it to a direct USB port on the computer), then it may be a problem with the battery. A 2nd gen shuffle would actually be about 5 or 6 years old at this point.
If you have connected new USB devices to the computer recently, as a test, you may want to try shutting down (powering off) the computer and disconnecting all USB devices (including any hub), except standard keyboard and mouse (if used). Then start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer. Is there any difference?
If this is a new computer, it may be something else. Please post back...

I have been trying to sync my Ipod touch 2nd generation to itunes and it says its completed, but then the music doesn't transfer to the device and I know I can't upgrade to IOS 5 so is it impossible to download music to it? I just bought it today used to $54 so I am growing incredibly frustrated.

the first tracks in my shuffle-playlist are my new podcasts, at second place is my current audiobook, sequentially the music is listed.
the podcasts and audiobooks are marked with the tag "not play while shuffle play". so that works fine. if a shuffle my songs, it only plays the music.
but if i want to go back to the beginning of the list, because of listening to my audiobook or podcasts, it won't work unless i skip to my hundreds of songs or reconnect it with my computer. even if i turn off the ipod it won't start from the beginning of the playlist.

Here's how: Turn it OFF and switch to play-in-order mode. Now turn it back on and press PLAY. IF it's not playing the first track, press PLAY 3 times quickly...that should get you to the beginning of the serially playable content on your Shuffle.

I have a problem connecting my Ipod Shuffle 2nd generation to my Windows 8 based laptop. The computer doesn't recognize the Ipod and issues an error message saying 'USB device not recognized'. I tried uninstaling ITunes(latest version) and all other Apple software and reinstaling it back again, checked my USB hubs in the 'Device Manager' section of the Control Panel, you name it.
I could really use some help solving this.
I've turned to the troubleshooting section in Apple Support but it has nothing concerning situations in wich the device isn't even shown in the 'My Computer' folder.

Found a solution in another forum http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-63733-ipod-not-detected-on-computer (a few posts down).
It was for an IPOD so you can see those details in the link.
Found how to reset a shuffle and inserted it into these instructions - did not have to follow his last steps.
- Turn off computer.
- Plug Shuffle into usb.
- Then you must reset your shuffle
To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible

- Start computer and it should install the usb driver for the ipod automatically.
- Your i pod will say do not unplug so don't. then open itunes and it will be there.
I did not have to do these thing below – did not get error message and shuffle was displayed in Itunes. / LMc
Just remember to not only eject ipod from itunes but stop usb.
Go to the program icons near the clock and right click the usb icon and "safely remove hardware" will appear and click it.
Stop it and select "apple ipod".
