HT2305 iPad updates Question???

My Ipad hae iOS version 4.3.3. When I logged on to iTunes it let me know the newest version of iOS 5.1.1 was available for download. Can i run the latest updaye only or do I need to go back and run all of the updates from 4.3.3 to 5.1.1? Any help with this topic would be appreciated! Thanks

All of the new features will be integrated into the most recent iOS version - that being iOS 5.1.1. You will not miss anything by going from 4.3.3 to 5.1.1. All features will be included.
That website that you referenced above does not allow you to download from the sites themselves. At the bottom of some of the sites it states that the updates are available via iTunes, on another site it links to the "how to update" kb site that I referenced above. Those are older update articles that describe what was new in each update with some links to other pertinent information.
Like I stated earlier, you can only download and install the very latest iOS version from iTunes. You will not miss out on anything that was included in the earlier updates. You will get it all if you update to iOS 5.1.1.
There is no need to update to all of the earlier versions in between. Updating to iOS 5.1.1 from 4.3.3 will not harm the iPad at all.

As Allan suggests it depends on the exact model of iPad you have.
If it does not have a camera, then it cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1
If it does it can go up to iOS 8.
With that said, you may be able to get compatible versions of Apps for iOS 5 by downloading the App to iTunes on a computer first, then following this support document from Apple:

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Can't upgrade my ipad2 to ios5 .. itunes says ipad update server not found

I have my main desktop I use for setting up my new iPad2. Syncs fine, but when I tried to update to ios5, keep getting message that ipad update server is not available, check internet connection. Itunes sees the internet, because it allows me to connect to the istore .. etc. Changed cables, I have tried it with firewall on, and firewall off .. makes no difference. The test shows no connection, but you can see by the diagnostics that it did connect.
PC is XP Pro,
I could connect fine from my laptop, working on same home network, however if I upgrade, it will dump all my apps .. I don't want to lose everything.
Is there a way to unsync my desktop, then sync with my laptop instead, backup, then do the update from my laptop?

It's my understanding that you do not need Lion on your Mac but you do need the latest version of iTunes. If you already have this, there may be some other problem.

If you downloaded the correct version for your iPad model (and the different models have different ipsw files), then you should be able to navigate to it in iTunes by pressing and holding the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button.

Hi after updating my iPad to Os6 I get to the point where it needs to be restored? It does a download bar and says 'Extracting software' then I get the message 'iPad cannot be restored at this time because the ipad update software server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable' .. OK. Good. The most likely culprit is either your firewall or anti-virus software. Temporarily disable both while you are doing the update (then, of course, turn them back on when you are done).

I noticed that time on my iPad 3G 64GB is slightly different (less than a minute) from time of my MacBook Pro, that itself is different from time of my iPhone.

Your MBP updates time from a time server over the internet. The iPhone sets the time using the cell phone system. My AT&T iPhone is always 1 minute behind my MBP.
I think that the iPad syncs time with iTunes or through the WiFi network. My iPad which syncs to my MBP and uses WiFi from an Apple AirPort Extreme has the same exact time as my MBP, down to the second (they switch minutes simultaneously). I might be wrong on this point, so if someone knows something more, I will stand corrected.

If you have set this phone up, then there would not necessarily be a solution here until you have been verify with the provider that everything is provisioned correctly on their end. Since the 3G comes from your cellular provider, if the settings are correct on the phone, then you should work with the carrier next.

If it scare y ou then take the machien back and ask the Apple Store to do this for you. What has probably filled your computer is large libraries such as music, photos and movies. Apple explains how to move those libraries to an external HD. Please read:

Cant update my sons ipad 2 to ios 5. We got it at christmas and have not been able to update it. Keep getting the ipad update server could not be contacted. check your internet connections or try again later. I have tried turning off my firewall and tried at all times of the day or night. Im using windows 7 on my PC.

The only other thing that I can think of to try is to restart everything. Quit iTunes, reboot your PC, restart the iPad and then try again.
