I have an iPhone 3G 16 GB, when i plug it into my PC in iTunes it says that it has the new software but it doesn't have the video camera or any new features and it only updates to 4.2.1 but as my friend has the same iPhone as me and has all the new features and her version is 5.2.1? It also doesn't allow me to download certain apps

The 3G cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1. Your friend must have the 3GS which can be updated to the latest iOS, which is 5.1 (there is no 5.2.1).

I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. My storage is almost full on my phone. There are only 80 mg available. I am new to icloud and also have always had trouble navigating around iTunes. (Even after endlessly reading through support and help topics as well as calling) My concern is about Not Losing any of my photos if I delete them from my phone. I have to delete a large portion of my camera roll as well as the Album Folders I have created. Although it would be great if there was a way to just keep my albums still. I have already backed them up to an external hard-drive, my computer and a geek stick. I'm not trying to be too paranoid about these photos, but, they are all of my 3 children. There are over 4000 pictures stored on my phone. Some photos go back as far as 2009. Can you offer any information about backing up my Camera Roll, not just "Photo Stream", and albums I've created On my phone? I read that it's good to back photos up on both iTunes as well as icloud. I even purchased extra icloud storage to back them all up. I do regularly back up/sync, my phone to my computers. However, I cannot even locate where they are stored on iTunes, let alone look at them. And as far as my iCloud backup, it only stores the new pictures from "Photo Stream". Please offer any advice you may have. I do not use up a lot of storage on my phone other than Photos and Contacts (it's a work phone). I would definitely be able to sleep better knowing my children can one day see these pictures of themselves. I appreciate your time. Thank you,
First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. If this problem occurs again, I will simply stop buying your products, and lose faith in your company, your's sincerely, Jack Maher.

My sister gave me her old iPhone that she bought in UK, she she it here in the Philippines and i'm having problems because i can't use it. i already restored it to set it up new but i couldn't still activate it. It says, " Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached." and "The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information."

What would happen if I wanted to replace my iPhone 3G 16GB?
My model of the iPhone (iPhone 3G 16GB Black) has now been discontinued since the 3GS was released. Previously, when my iPhone broke I just took it to the apple store and they replaced it. However, they cannot do that anymore as they will not have my version of the iPhone to replace it with. And so I am wondering, what would they do?

but my itools cannot transfer file to my iPhone it gives this message (unable to ascertain compatibility iTunes.) check out.....

This means the iPhone was hacked to be unlocked. The 3GS was not sold in the US as officially unlocked.
Restoring an iPhone with iTunes that was hacked to be unlocked or installing a firmware update on an iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked re-locks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked when new. In this case, re-locked with ATT. -

I am using an iPhone 5 (16GB) iOS 7.0.4.
Currently the size of the mail app is 1GB and is continously increasing, even though the advanced settings in the mail account have been set as following:
MOVE DISCARDED MESSAGES INTO:
Deleted Mailbox

Remove: After one day
INCOMING SETTINGS:
Delete from Server: When removed from Inbox
The problem that I am facing is that only a few emails reside on my iPhone as I keep deleting emails, which are also deleted from the server automatically because of the settings as above, which is perfectly fine. The emails are deleted from the Mail app and only a very few of them are visible which I have not deleted as yet, and all is fine till here. The problem is that the size of the Mail app is more than 1GB and is continously increasing, when i check the size of the Mail app in the Settings > General > Usage section.
When I search for an email that has previously been deleted from the search feature by swiping down in the main page, it still comes up in the search, and upon clicking the searched email, it takes me into the Mail app, however, the mail is not there. I have tried searching for emails which were deleted weeks ago, and they still come up in the search feature, however, they DO NOT open in the Mail app when i click them within the search feature in the main page.
Up until a couple of months ago, the size of the Mail app was about 5.2GB and at this point I had no space on my 16GB iPhone 5, therefore I resetted my phone two months ago, and after a complete reset of the iPhone 5, the size of the Mail app went back to 0.3KB (like it was brand new out-of the box); however, within a matter of two months the size of the Mail app has now exceeded 1GB and is continously increasing, as I receive alot of emails which is why I delete them on daily basis and even delete them from the Trash folder (mailbox).
I have read alot of blogs and even checked with other friends using similar settings on the same model, however, I just cant seem to figure this out. I would really appreciate if someone can help me with this issue as I dont want to have to reset it again after another 2-3 months.
There are practically only 14-15 emails on my Mail app with not alot of KBs for these emails, and the trash folder is also empty, but the size of the Mail app is still not reducing. Please help!!

Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question. -

I purchased 20GB from I cloud and it says it has used about 12 GB and I have about 8 Left on Icloud but I still have no storage left on my phone and cannot take photos, download apps, etc.. I read that the process is supposed to save a smaller version of the photo on my phone and save the higher resolution version in the cloud. It does not seem to have done this however. I do not want to risk deleting.
Also I ahve photos there that are 5 years old and I do not need them to appear on my phone. Can I delete them and still keep them in Icloud? It seems I could not bsed upon what I read. Please hlep. I a comig from using a Droid for the past 5 years.Lets get the feature to work, Doc_Gorgonzola! I assure you that its compatible with the 6 and 6+. My iPhone 3GS 16gb, is stuck in restore mode, downloaded and tried to do a restore multiple times. Keep getting an error The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. Unknown error occured (-1). Cannot get it out of restore mode, keeps rebooting!

OK. T-Mobile is NOT owned by AT&T... yet... The deal hasn't gone through yet. T-Mobie's US network is not compatible with the iPhone. Lots of things don't work right. There is not, and never has been an unlocked 3G sold in the US. Don't know where the phone originated, but more than likely it was in the US. If that's the case, the phone has been hacked/jailbroken to get it to work.
Have you tried doing a restore or restoring the phone as new? I have to warn you, if you do so and the phone is hacked/jailbroken, it will re-lock to AT&T and will become unusalbe. I think your best bet right now might be to save yourself a lot of grief and just upgrade to new phone from a legitimate source.
I would never even consider buying an iPhone on ebay. 99% or more are hacked, jailbroken and/or stolen. -
