I do not live in the US and ATT roaming charges are way tooooo expensive. how can I get my phone unlocked? It is an 4 with 04.12.01 firmware
Call AT&T. They're the ones who lock your phone.

Only the Carrier the Phone is Locked to can Unlock it... You need to Contact the Carrier and ask if they Offer this Service and if you Qualify. -

I just bought a new unlocked iPhone 4. I want to use it with tmobile. I got a microsim card from tmobile. Placed it in the phone and turned it on, which tmobile said would work. It did not work. It says no service. Thanks for any tips.
Yes, thank you for your reply. It seems like that make be the case. The phone was my first ever ebay purchase. Should have just bought the unrestricted phone directly from apple. The thing is I was trying to save money and just have the 4 as a hold over until tmobile finally gets an iPhone or I am out of contract. I have spoken with tmobile and apple support and it seems the unlock process was never completed on the phone. I am now having to call tmobile. This phone is NOT as described and I have no idea why. It was supposed to be a brand new unlocked iphone 4 and even on ebay...it was still $355.00. How wouldna brand new iphone unlocked iphone be locked to AT&T. I guess I will know more if I can get an answer from AT&T. What a mess. Thank you!

How do I get my phone out of recovery mode? I deleted and replaced my old lockdown folder and now I cant get it off the recovery screen no matter what I try. I have tried TinyUmbarella, and several other softwares. They all go through the process but when the phone comes back on it is still on the screen that says hook to itunes. When I hook to itunes and try to restore i get a 3194 error which i try to fix also and that doesnt work either. PLEASE HELP.
To restore to the original factory settings (no jbs permitted. sorry.)
- Hold home and power to restart the iPhone
- Have the iPhone plugged in while holding home
- A popup on iTunes will show requesting you to restore your iPhone
- Let go of home and restore your iPhone
- "Restore as a new iPhone" or "Restore from Backup" will show after 15 minutes or less -
I had to get my computer cleaned off. I have itunes back now how do i get my phones items back on itunes? I was backed up on icloud
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.

I went thru upgrade to ios7, then a few days later there was an alert in settings, so I clicked on the update to THAT upgrade... then my phone went black... no turning off or on. So I plugged into my PC and it will only show an iTunes logo a small white arrow up and then a pic of hte cord attached.... computers won't recognize phone, but sometimes show a 'device' there, but no opening anything... and it shows NO device driver for apple iphone. what's happened??? HOW dod I get my phone back! This is a work phone... need asap! thanks!

How can I get the phone numbers in contacts to appear with dashes between the first 3 numbers, the next 3 numbers, and the last 4 numbers? Until very recently
it did so. Contacts on my macbook pro does show up this way. I do have a mobile me account and in the past syncing was no problem. What setting has changed?The phone number format as well as the date language and format and the time format are controlled by the Region Format setting. Go to Settings > General >International > Region Format. When you change a region format, you can go back one page (to International) and see an example of the date/time/phone number format that your selected region format will produce.

i have a long-existing iPhone 4s with one apple id and started a job where I received a macbook with another apple id. how do i get my phone to sync with the Mac Pro and secondly how do i get my music on there?
No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

2 iphone 4, 1 computer. i upgraded to ios 5 and just updated my wifes phone as well. her phone got wiped of all apps and all my contacts were put on her phone. we had been using the same apple id but different user acct on our laptop. How do i get her phone back to normal??
Have your wife log in to her user account on the laptop. Launch iTunes, then connect her phone to the computer with the USB cable. Sync. That should put back all apps and media. Since you already upgraded her to iOS 5 she'll have to manually enter all her settings and preferences, and organize her home screens.

I had the developer preview for IOS 6 on my phone, and just got a message telling me that my operating system is no longer active. How do I get my phone activated again?
I had the developer preview installed. Never had to update to the release version of the OS. Now, the preview has expired, and I cannot use my phone because my iTunes reads my OS as being current, but my iPhone cannot active. It in fact does a lot of work there even if not paid.
And yes we do not have disagreement about "official apple developers". Problem is that Apple screwed our devices because we are "official apple developers" and did effort to stop us getting proper help. I unbricked my ipad and iphone thanks to unofficial help. Thank you who wrote this unofficial help and "no thanks" for apple for ruining my access to my devices. My mistake was assuming that "update" button on my devices works. It did not because it always told "Your device has latest IOS6 installed" until it bricked yesterday.
If Apple does not want to listen us, continue do delete post, blame us installing your software and yes we stop buying your devices and developing for them.

As AT&T has not officially unlocked your phone it must have been hacked to use another carrier. So when you updated it has relocked itself to AT&T. There is no official unlock so this will happen anytime you update.
