HT2311 My computer is asking me to close itunes when installing the upgrade. I think I already have! What do I need to do?
My computer is asking me to close itunes when installing the upgrade. I think I already have. What do I need to do to close itunes after closing it?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, open Activity Monitor (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and kill "iTunes" and "iTunes Helper". Then, run the installer. If it doesn't work, restart your computer and install the update again, and if nothing works, start your computer in safe mode (holding the Shift key while your computer is starting) and install the update

Use your operating system's tools to close running processes. If you don't know how, tell us your OS.

I just installed the upgrade version of Logic Studion. A dialog appears, asking me to either enter the serial number of my earlier Logic version, or to connect my CSKey to my computer's USB port. But I don't have any of them. now what should I do?
You will need to either locate the codes or contact AppleCare.

2007 Intel Imac, installed a new Hdd. Started up with the install disc but it doesn't find my Hdd when asking for a destination volume to install the Mac OS. The Hdd is recognized in system profiler. Any ideas?

The hard drive is not formatted, and it must be formatted in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" in order to install OS X.
Close the OS X installer, and go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility. Then, format your hard drive in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as Format > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html Finally, close Disk Utility and install OS X -
I've recently started to use Numbers on my macbook pro but when I try to sync to iCloud it asks me to create a new iCloud account. Problem is I already have one and that's the one I want to use.
Looks like I have the same situation on my iphone.
The only option I'm being given is to create an lCloud account.
Any guidance? Thanks. The last thing you want is a second iCloud account. Try logging out and back in in System Preferences. If that doesn't work, I'd get AppleCare on the line.

When I plug in my IPOD Nano into a USB port, the computer recognizes it as a printer. It then attempts to install the printer software, which is already installed. The only way to fix it is to unplug the printer. Any thoughts?
Turn the printer off.

Whenever i try to open firefox, i get a message that firefox cannot install the upgrade because another instance of firefox is running. Then firefox 3.6.2 will start. running windows 7 64 bit. This will occur every time i try to open firefox, after rebooting or any time i close it and reopen firefox.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I Ok'd the upgrade from 3.6.2 to 3.6.3Do a clean (re)install and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

When I plug in my iphone 4S to my 64-bit computer a error box comes up in my 64-bit itunes that reads (This iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove itunes, than install the 64-bit version of itines.) This just started a few weeks ago. I've done a system restore on my computer, deleated and reinstalled the 64-bit itunes several times, did a registery clean, rebooted. Nothing seems to work it will not pick up my phone.
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -

I have an iMac that I purchased back in 2010 and over the past 9 month or less my computer just started shutting down while someone was in the process or working on it. What could this come from? Is there a simple solutions to this problem?
Which model iMac do you have? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1758 How to identify iMac models
Which OS is currently installed?
Check out KB Articles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If not of the above works and you have AC, call them. Let them deal w/it. Otherwise, take your iMac down to your local AS or an AASP. Diagnostic testing is FREE!
You can also research for a solution on YouTube's "How To" website and iFixit. -
