HT2404 Candide question : I have been trying unsuccessfully to download Java 6, what am I missing?
I am ready for a "duh" because I am probably overlooking the obvious here : I have been completely unsuccessful at downloading Java which is not currently on my Mac Book Pro, what am I missing?
Thank you also for the advice about disabling Java when I do not need it (which is most of the time)...

I think the last update turns it off by default. Likewise, ensure Java is enabled in your browser if you're using it for Java games.
It would be wise to turn them off again when not needed.

I have updated the entire Creative Cloud repeatedly, even used the cleaner tool to remove older files, preferences and OOBE file and still cannot use update from help menu in IndesignCC to get DPS tools. It is greyed out.
No options available in the folio builder either. And if i close the folio builder the only way it comes back is to reset the publishing profile.

I have been trying to re-download itunes. This is in an effort to try to recover my new iphone 5s which after the latest update, was put into recovery mode. When I connected to itunes, I was given the message that I couldn't recover the phone. So, support suggested that I re-download itunes. The installation seems stuck on the "Running Package Scripts" page. It says it only has about a minute left to complete this process - however that was over 2 hours ago! Help! What can I do next?
Disconnect the iPhone from your Mac.
Shut down your Mac, wait about ten seconds then restart.
Then try downloading iTunes > Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
Do not reconnect the iPhone until iTunes is installed.
If that didn't help, the startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, start up from your Mac install disc to make repairs.

ok i have been trying to download albums, songs, apps, etc. and my itunes keeps asking me for the security question and for the life of me i cant remember the answers. I dont know what the email is that receives the question reset. is there anything i can do to fix this or am i screwed?
If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours. You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method. But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?

If you don't have a rescue email address (or you do but aren't the receiving the email to it) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

I have been trying to change my Apple password. They are asking me "security"
questions and I am answerng them correctly yet they tell me that my answer don't match their information. They know nothing about me so how do they know what the correct info is? Have been trying for almost an hour and half to get someone to answer in chat and have been passed over a few times. Cannot access my work profile after I downloaded 4.0 yesterday. Keeps saying I'm offline but I'm not and the box is unchecked. Have tried restart several times, re-install several times to no avail. Haven't gotten help in chat nor answers here. To the extent possible, I removed all impediments to Firefox from Symantec Endpoint Protection which is what my university uses along with Cisco Clean Agent where I also removed impediments. The problem was not solved. I continue not to be able to use one of my two profiles (the more important one) since I downloaded 4.0 yesterday. Worked fine with 3. every update since 3.0. I still get the same message about being offline and unchecking the box which has never been checked. Still searching for a remedy.
Don't know enough to find which part of the Firefox program in the C drive program files is the culprit, but it is surely somewhere there. Little at a loss as to what to do. Wish I knew of a Firefox whiz or Geek either near where I live or in Frederick, MD; Leesburg, VA or Washington, DC -

I have 2 issues that Apple has not been able to resolve, that are vexing me.
1) Somehow I have 2-3 apple IDs ... passwords etc. I have purchased 2 iPads, 2 -3 iPhones, a Macbook Pro, and a Mac Mini with Thunderbolt monitor. Somewhere in that process I might have created another Apple ID, not sure. When the confusion started, I went to an Apple store, and they suggested I create a new Apple ID, against my better judgement I did, which added to the confusion. Now, every time I need to sign in using my Apple ID for anything, I have no idea what user ID goes with what password. I have gone to Apple stores several time to try to get this situation cleared up and each time they try to get me to create yet another Apple ID. Now I won't do that anymore, but the original confusion remains. How can I wipe out all Apple IDs and just have one?
2) I have been trying to get a particular functionality/feature/capability added to my Mac system. Don't want to go into detail here because someone will steal my idea and make millions. I have posed this question to Mac personnel from Geniuses, to Business Teams -- no one can figure it out. How do I get this fabulous capability I have thought up to come to life so I can make millions?

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

When I go to select a PDF file, all that shows up is the WORD docs. does not show ANY of my PDF files... Please help me figure out what is going on?
