HT2404 Downloading Mountain Lion after purchasing app

As soon as I purchased the mountain lion app it says "download" next to the icon under recent purchases in the app store but as soon as I click on it says "download" again and nothing more happens. Has this happened to anyone else? Any troubleshooting advice before I need to take it in to the store?

Thank you, I waited 3 hours then noticed the icon on my dock. I appreciate it!

  • Unable to download Mountain Lion after purchase in App store.

After purchasing Mountain Lion in App store, I have been unable to successfully download a copy.
It was not interrupted, it just stops.
Every attempt (including the first) fails at 142 MB, with the meaningless "unable to download" error. In the console log I find this:
7/31/13 2:32:56.894 PM storeagent: ISStoreURLOperation: Expected bytes (4437341116) did not match actual (142374555)! Setting error. (See 9215068)
indicating the error. The file was expected to be 4.4 GB (yes), but does not match actual 142 MB...?
I have found references to this error, but no real fix. I have tried every "fix" suggested; Safe boot, guest user login, deleting temp files, hidden files, app store files, debug mode in app store, repairing permissions, changing ethernet ports, changing DNS (loved that one), and others.
I finally erased the hard drive with zeroes, re-installed 10.7, software updated to 10.7.5 and immediately attempted download - it still fails.
I also have no virus software or little snitch, or anything else that would prevent downloads. I have been able to download free and purchased software from the app store (xcode, pages, ibooks author) - that are more than 142MB.
So this is not an ISP, modem, or some other thing preventing me from downloading using the app store. It is a problem *only* with downloading Mountain Lion.
This seems like an Apple problem. Anybody have a real fix?

Are you quite sure? Check your model identifier. If you have the first model released, then it cannot run anything past Lion. Be sure you meet ALL the requirements.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • Can't download Mountain Lion after purchase

I bought Mountain Lion and received two emails. I entered the code to access the pdf that contains a redemption code for the actual download. However, the App store won't accept this code. After and hour on the phone to Apple with no answers I seem to have paid for nothing! I'd appreciate some suggestions as I really need this browser update.

Are you carefully cutting & pasting the redemption code from the pdf to the Mac App Store? No extra space at the beginning or the end?
If this is truly an invalid code, have you called the Apple Store and spoken to them about your purchase? What did they say?
If you get no where with the Apple Store, then turn to Customer Relations. Call Apple Care 1-800-MY-APPLE. You may have to tell the automated system that you have a security issue to get past the credit card request, since this is not about hardware with a serial number. When the first tier agent answers the phone, calmly tell them you have an issue that you wish to escalate immediately to Customer Relations. CR agents are authorized to do almost anything to make customers happy.

Try starting in safe mode, holding the Shift key while your computer is starting. After starting in safe mode, open the App Store and download Mountain Lion

  • Unable to download Mountain Lion from the App store

Hi, when I try to download Mountain Lion from the app store I get the message, " The product distribution file could not be verified ... " Obviously I'm doing something really stupid. Advice welcome!
    Thanks

A belated thanks for your help. I'd never have solved it otherwise. Maybe Apple could change the automatic reply that I got initially ("The product distribution file could not be verified ....") othewise they risk loosing customers.
    Thanks again.

  • Trouble downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store

    Hi!
I am currently running snow leopard 10.6.8.  I have updated all of my software, run time machine, and backblaze.  I have purchased Mountain Lion through the App Store, but have tried to download it three times without success.  I get a pop up window about 3/4 of the way through the download that says "download failed" , check our internet connection.  I have checked it in the Systems Preferneces and I have green buttons on both the ethernet and wireless connections.
Any suggestions for how I can successfully download and install Mountain Lion?
    Thanks!
    Kim

It won't mess up your computer.
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Of course, you have backups. Right?

  • I keep getting "hash mismatch" when trying to download Mountain Lion from the App store

I've been trying to download the new Mountain Lion from the App Store & keep getting "hash mismatch" message. I was able to download on my 1 computer, but no luck on the 2nd computer, which is up-to-date on all updates & software. Support even put a fresh copy of the App in my account & I still get that same message. Someone suggested AppCleaner, but how do you delete the OS to re-install the new. Didn't think that was possible. Any suggestions - I've tried quitting & logging out of the App Store & even re-starting (several times)

    -  Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.
    -  Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select Mountain Lion. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • How do you erase and reinstall a hard drive without a disc? I bought this mac book pro under a year ago and am pretty sure i downloaded mountain lion from the app store. Basically Im having startup issues and this is the final step Ive reached

when I start my laptop it loads a third of the way and shuts down automaticallyI've tried to safe boot, repairing discs and clearing RAM but nothing has worked. basically I've come to the final step of having to a erase my hard drive and reinstall mountain lion however Apple support suggest that I install from a disc however I installed mountain lion from the App Store. can anyone help me go about this?

Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
