An App like Filebrowser will allow your iOS devices to browse files on the hard drive.

  • Remote access the airport extreme usb hard drive over the internet with multiple users?

I just purchase the new airport extreme 802.11n and set it up on my LAN behind a comcast modem with broadband.  I plugged a 3 tb Seagate hard drive formatted with fat32 (default) to it and have set it up for access for all of my computers, ipad, iphone, android in my house.  Everything works as expected, internet access, file access to the USB HD on all devices locally through back to my mac.  I would now like to allow my daughters in another state to access this drive through the Airport Extreme remotely from their location and have there own accounts on this hard drive to store and move their files for on the go access.  I have studied many of the forums and have enabled share disks over WAN, Enable file sharing but no body really gives an exact method of connecting remotely.  I had one of my daughters try on her Macbook Pro laptop through the finder, connect to server, by giving her the IP address.  She could see the name of the Airport Extreme but could not access the hard disk and got a "Not able to connect message".  I am obviously missing something simple that needs to be checked or setup but have drained my brain trying to figure it out.  Most of the forums describe clicking manuel setup on the Airport utility, but with version 6.1 this is now where to be found.  I have a DYN account but could not figure out where to input this in the Airport utility.
There is a network option which has DHCP lease and range and a box for Enable NAT port Mapping Protocal with Enable default host at:
I am guessing that this is for some other purpose though.  Please help

Try installing AirPort Utility 5, then you may be able to follow the guides you mentioned earlier:

  • How many network interfaces the Airport Extreme (a/b/g/n with USB) has?

I am trying to use an SNMP client on the computer to monitor my network traffic.
I using the Airport Extreme (AEBS) to connect to the internet using PPPoE. wifi and ethernet (RJ45) ports are used for LAN
Now after setting up the SNMP client, it shows so many interfaces the AEBS has, and most names of the interfaces cant give me a clue about what they are:
    1: mgi0
    2. mgi1
    3. mv0
    4. mv1
    5. lo0
    6. wlan0
    7. wlan1
    8. pppoe0
    9. bridge0
The "pppoe0" interface is self evident. That's the overall traffic in and out of the router to the Internet.
But I also want to monitor the traffic on my local computer, which is a Macbook Pro connected thru wifi. I also have a few other windows boxes on the LAN using wifi or ethernet connect.
So I need to what those interfaces are.
Is there any documentation regarding the network interfaces of the AEBS?

  • My Time Capsule disk shows on my iMac but not my MacBook Pro. How do I get the Airport Extreme mounted disk to show as an available Time Machine disk on my MacBook?

I just replaced an Airport Express with a new Airport Extreme. My iMac recognizes the external hard disk I have connected to the Airport Extreme, and my Time Machine is backing up to it. But I can't get my MacBook Pro to recognize the disk as available for Time Machine. Both are running Mavericks, and the MacBook is only a couple of months old.

  • How do i use the airport extreme to extend my wireless network

How do i connected my airport extreme up to my existing network so that it can extend my wireless through out the house ??
Can it be done wirelessly or do i need an ethernet cable thats about 10m ?
    Keith

The AirPort Exteme can "extend" your existing wireless network (using wireless only) if it is being provided by another Apple router.
If your current main router is not an Apple product, then you will need to plan to connect the AirPort Extreme to your router using an Ethernet cable.
Post back for more information if needed.

  • How do I prevent the Airport Extreme router from dropping with DSL when a call comes in?

I just installed a new Aiport Extreme 802.11n router. I am using DSL and it works great until someone calls me. When the phone rings and my answering machine answers the call the router drops and start flashing amber. My old router did not have this problem. Is there an option I can set that will prevent the router from dropping when someone calls me?

The AirPort Extreme should be configured to "create a wireless network" with the same WiFi network name, security type (usually WPA2 Personal) and password as your existing router. It should be configured as connection type Ethernet and be in bridge mode.

  • How do you uninstall the Airport Extreme

I'd like to uninstall and then reinstall the Airport Extreme router because I somehow deleted some of the settings and now I can get my TV to connect to the wireless.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply.  I actually figured it out about 2 hours after I posted here.  Appreciate you taking the time to assist.

  • Limit to the # of computers the Airport Extreme network can handle?

My wireless network was working fine with the two computers that were using it: my iBook G4 and my iMac G5, both running Leopard. When my wife brought home her new MacBook from work (running Snow Leopard) I could not access the internet. It picked up the wireless network, but it wouldn't connect. Now, for some reason, her computer and my ibook work, but the iMac won't connect. I can't believe that the Airport Extreme could only tolerate two devices, but since I have no idea how to address networking problems this is the conclusion I am left with.
    Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, all I did was reset the Airport to the factory settings. (I think this is right; I was trying to change settings and reset stuff that I am not sure the order or the exact settings that I changed. I can say that since I don't know very much about computers the extent of my fixing was limited to resetting the Airport and re-making a new network (sometimes with and new name and password). That is really all I can think that I did. For some reason the Macbook and the iMac were able to get on. Then (and I am not exaggerating here) the Macbook simply would not pick up the connection.
All of the computers do get full bars, but only the iMac gets internet. For every computer that does not work, the network settings (when I go to network diagnostics) show green lights for: airport, airport settings, network settings and isp. There are yellow or red lights for: internet and server.
Not sure if this helps at all, since I am so imprecise about what I actually did.
An aside question is: which port should I be plugging the cord into from the dsl modem? the wan or the lan? I thought it was the wan port, but the Internet only works when I use the lan (even though the computer will always tell me that there is a problem because nothing is plugged into the wan port).

  • HT4259 when i plug in the airport express i can't find it in the aiport utilities

I need help setting up the Airport Exress as an extender of my Airport Extreme.  I am folowing all the instructions and I still cannot find it in the utilities when I open it.

Move the AX to the same room or area as the AirPort Extreme
Please perform a Factory Default Reset of the AirPort Express (AX) as follows:
Power the AX down and wait a few minutes
Hold in the reset button on the AX and keep holding it for 9-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the AX back in to power
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 40-45 seconds for the AX to display a slow, blinking amber light
Open AirPort Utility and look at the tab in the upper right corner of the screen and you should see.....
    Other AirPort Base Stations (1)
Click on this tab, then click on AirPort Express xxxxxx
AirPort Utility will take a few minutes to analyze your network and suggest that the AX be configured to extend your network
Accept this choice and wait another few minutes for the configuration
You should receive a message that the AX has been configured and see a green light
Unplug the AX and move it to a location that is approximately half the distance from the AirPort Extreme to the area that needs more wireless coverage.

  • How do I use the Airport Extreme feature.

For a while I have used a Netgear WGR614 wireless router, which worked fine (with a cable modem).
At this time I have a DSL modem, and for the life of me I can NOT get this Netgear router to work anymore. The period for free phone support has expired, every call for support is now at least $ 40.00 so I am going to buy something else.
This is available in my Powerbook:
    * Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme
    * Wireless Card Locale: USA
    * Wireless Card Firmware Version: 404.2 (3.90.34.0.p16)
Is there anything I can buy from Apple that would make it possible to be wireless with this?
I'd be gratefull for any kind of information.
    Best regards,
    Mildred Denney.

Sorry for posting this question in the wrong forum - it's been a long day...;-)

  • I have iWork '09. How do I get the new version? Can't find it in the App Store...

Trying to update to the newest version of keynote so I can edit my presentations on my iPad. It keeps telling me to update. When I do, it says its the most update version, but its actually not.

Using the latest version of Keynote 6.1 has the following conditions:
it only runs in Mavericks, it wont run on an earlier OS
it is not an update but a new application therefore it is a paid upgrade from the Mac App Store
it is available as a free download if you purchased a Mac from October 2013 onwards, if your Mac is older it is a paid for download
If iWork 09 is installed when you obtain Keynote 6.1 the older applications are still installed allowing the two versions to be used for the diffent file types used. Best practice currently is to use 5.3 to oen those files and 6.1 to create new files.

  • How do I install the Airport Extreme card??

Apologies if I am just being dense. In the shop they told me to do this myself at home and follow the instructions. There were no installation instructions in the box. I eventually found something on a website (not here) for 2001 iBook models (mine is 2004). Was doing fine until the card was supposed to click smoothly into the plug thingy. It doesn't. I don't want to force it in case I damage something.
I asked them in the shop to check that this computer does take the Extreme card rather than the old one, and they said it did. Can anyone help??

lemontree, Welcome to the discussion area!
If you have the 12" iBook G4, the instructions can be found in KB 26277, iBook G4: CIP Instructions.
If you have a different iBook, visit www.apple.com/support/diy/ and choose your iBook from the drop down menu.

  • How come extend is the physical structure ? Can some one explain.

How come extend is the physical structure ? Can some one explain.
    thanks
    siva

"Tablespaces physically group schema objects for administration convenience. They bridge physical structures, such as datafiles or extents, and logical structures, such as tables and indexes. Tablespaces can store zero or more segments. Segments are schema objects that require storage outside the data dictionary. Tables and indexes are examples of segments. Constraints and sequences are examples of schema objects that do not store data outside the data dictionary and are therefore not segments." - Study Guide.
Read above, it reads "physical structures, such as datafiles or extents", this is where I got confused ?
    thanks
