HT2438 Do I need QuickTime Pro to do this?

Will it work?  I am pretty much a novice.  I viewed a VHS format video on the TV and re-recorded it using the IPhone.  I want to be able to upload the movie clip to YouTube so that my kids can see old movies of themselves online.  Would that be possible with QuickTime Pro (which I don't have yet?)  My error message was Error 36.

Just connect your iPhone to your computer, and sync the video to your computer.
To upload these video's, you would need a Youtube account - www.youtube.com/upload.
You should not need Quicktime at all to do this.

  • I would like to convert an animated Gif to .mov, will Quicktime Pro 7 do this? Should I spend the money?

    Hi everyone.
I'm looking to put a few animations onto keynote and I'm making my presentation on PowerPoint.
I need to convert an animated gif into a .mov file and was wondering whether Quicktime Pro 7 does this?
    Thanks

I need to convert an animated gif into a .mov file and was wondering whether Quicktime Pro 7 does this?
Since it appears QTKirk has provided the best answer for your specific work flow issue as stated, I will answer your more general question...
Yes, QT 7 Pro can open an animated GIF file and save it as an MOV file. At this time the real question is whether or not the MOV file produced is suitable for your needs. Basically the MOV file can be then then be played—but it only plays one pass in the normal playback mode. You can, of course opt to loop the playback which, for a small files, plays much as the original GIF.
Unfortunately, the "Loop" setting is not saved when the MOV file is saved, so this option must be re-initialized each time the MOV file is opened. This would not be a problem if all you are doing is openening the file in the QT 7 player and letting it play in the looped mode all day as some sort of display but would likely be an unsatisfoactory solution for sending the MOV file to someone else. You could, of course, turn the MOV file into a QTL file with the loop option set to get around this problem.
While I would be hard pressed to say it would be a good investment just for the creation of GIF movie files, QT 7 Pro does offer a lot of other features that make it a bargain utility for many quick edit requirements if you use/need them.

  • Is there a way to export still images from Quicktime or do I need Quicktime Pro (and is Quicktime Pro even still a thing?)

I'm sure there used to be an option "export to still image" but not any more.
Do I need to switch to Quicktime Pro? I used to have it back in my P.C. days but I'm not sure if Quicktime Pro is even a thing any more.
I don't want to go down the "screen grab" option because my source footage is larger than the screen size and so I want to do my cropping after I've exported the stills, not before.

I played a little with live trace in CS5. Seems to do quite a good job if I had the right contrast between the blood (white stuff) and the myocardium (the dark circular wall surrounding the white round area). Picture one is the contrasted picture taken off a dicom medium (these media allow adjusting the contrast very well). Left ventricle is the smiley face on the right of image. The right ventricle is on the left, kind of D shaped. The second picture is the live trace image (with "make and expand" selection). I selected the image with the "direct selection tool (A)", then used the live trace with make and expand. The tracing can not be seen here, but it is very accurate.
The third image is the same MRI image as in picture one without contrast adjustment. Live trace did bad - fourth picture.

  • Is All I Need Quicktime Pro?

Hello, if i pay $29.99 and get Quicktime Pro will that allow me to convert videos into MPEG4? Also will it put the video in the right size to copy into i tunes and into my ipod?
Do i need videora if i get Quicktime Pro or is Quicktime Pro all i need?
    Any help is much appreciated
    Tom

Well if you don't want to pay. Videora iPod Converter is a good substitute (and free!).
Quicktime (and Videora) have settings specific for the iPod which you can select (not sure how to in QuickTime Pro. I think its when you save it? Videora has it by default cause the program is specfically for the iPod)
If you want to spend the money, yes get QuickTime Pro, I'd think it is better than Videora, not sure though.

  • Do I need Quicktime Pro to run Elgato Video Capture?

I purchased Elgato Video Capture device for archiving old alalogue video etc. On installation and installing updates I recieved a message saying:
Elgato Video Capture cannot run because an old version of the 3vix QuickTime component is installed.
Please upgrade or uninstall the 3vix QuickTime component. More info at http://www.3ivx.com/ .
I run Quicktime 10.0 on a macbook pro which has always been reliable. Should I really remove the 3vix component or will this affect my Quicktime player. I could download Quicktime Pro but at a further cost of 29 USD (about 17 GBP sterling ?)
    Anyone any advice?
    Thanks

Remove the component. QuickTime 10 can't use it anyway.
You don't need the "Pro" upgrade of QuickTime Player 7.

  • Need Quicktime Pro to save a Windows Mediaplayer video in Quicktime format?

I can't open videos from a FlipVideo Mino Model F360 (MPeg4 standard def.)with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 video editing software. Videos from my Canon EOS Rebel XSi work fine. I'm told it should work if files are saved in Quicktime format. I can't seem to do that unless I buy the Quicktime Pro version for $30. Annoying! Will it work? Is there some other problem here? I get sound but no picture now.

Just move your playhead to the frame you want exported.
    go to:
    File --> Export
Choose "Movie to picture" as your export option near the bottom of the window
Now you can click on the options button right next to it and choose your desired export format.

  • I've lost quicktime pro and can't find it. I had to re-install my HD and now QT Pro has gone and I can't find details of when I bought it.

I'm 10.6.8 and I use a Macbook Pro. I bought QT pro a while ago and since I've re installed my stuff all I've got is QT and I need the older version (that I paid for) to edit.
Any help will be much appreciated.

It's not the player I need
QuickTime Pro is not a separate application, so you won't find it by searching your system or by looking for a download. A Pro key just unlocks the extra features of QuickTime Player and the QuickTime browser plugin. You need the QuickTime Player 7 Kirk and I have referred to; only that version can be "unlocked" with a Pro key.
I can't find that either. I've trawled my email and can't find it.
Log into your account in the Apple Store and click on the Downloadable Software Purchases link. You should find the key shown there. If not, you may need to purchase a new key.

  • I Purchaced Quicktime Pro, But Have Not Received My Software Yet. HELP!

Since I have a PC, I don't visit the Apple website very often. However, I need to make Quicktime movies from Flash and After Effects.
Recently, I was offered an update for Quicktime (through a pop-up from Apple), and when I updated it, ALL of my Quicktime movies stopped working What a slimey way to make you buy new software!
So I went to the Apple website and purchased the new version of Quicktime Pro, hoping that this would resolve the issue. I couldn't figure out if Apple was going to mail me the software, or if I was supposed to download it from the website.
I have tried to read the support topics, and can't find this subject anywhere. It has been at least 2 weeks, and I haven't received anything from Apple, not from the internet and not in the snail mail. I sent an email to the company and have received NO REPLY!
I am very frustrated by this and wonder if Apple actually knows what it is doing? How do they expect to keep customers, if they have such terrible customer service?
Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to get my hands on the software that I purchased?

Someone else may correct me, but to the best of my knowledge, QuickTime cannot deal with any Flash format newer than Flash 5. Because of that, the more recent versions of QT have removed Flash support pretty much completely. So for a Flash 8 video, I believe you'll need some other conversion tool. But with luck someone else here with more solid knowledge about Flash and conversion will chime in.
As to the AfterEffects movies, what codecs (audio and video) were used and what precisely means "quit working". Will they not load, will they load but not play at all, or will they load and play but with problems?
And again, it will probably help people offer suggestions if you post what version of QuickTime you're using. If it says it's up to date, I would presume it's 7.5.5, but check the version in QuickTime Player to confirm.
    Regards.

  • .mp4 H.264 not playing correctly in Quicktime Pro

    Here is all my information:
Format: H.264 Decoder, 720x480 Millions AAC, Mono, 48.000 kHz
    FPS: 23.98
    Data Size: 1.86 GB
    Data Rate: 2695.08 kbits/sec
Normal Size: 640 x 480 pixels (this is the current size too)
The Problem: I have perfect audio, but the video seems extremely choppy and lags. I wanted to do simple editing of some video and I thought that the Quicktime Pro may help this file play better, so I just bought Quicktime Pro to see that it does not help the file play any better. Could there be a setting that I'm missing somewhere? My roommate has Quicktime Pro on Windows and the file plays for him perfectly. The file also plays fine on VLC... So I thought it must be a setting that I am missing. Thanks.

It depends on which version of Windows Media Player they're using. If they're still on XP, it's very possible it won't work.  Anyone using Windows 7 or 8 should have no problem.  (And perhaps it does need to be said, but everyone should be using either 7 or 8 by now.)
At least one of them was on Windows 7.
Is there a better format I should be using for PP export other than H.264?

  • Quicktime Pro Has Failed To Launch - PLEASE HELP

I spent $31 and purchased Quicktime Pro so that I could put together a video with music of my time here in Beijing.
However, I can't even seem to get Quicktime Pro to launch.
Am I missing something here? I entered in the code on my Quicktime control pannel and it tells me that I have Quicktime Pro, but other than that there is nothing to indicate that I have anything other than regular ol' Quicktime.
Is there some kind of button I need to push or should it have changed to Quicktime Pro automatically.
This is very vexing to me and I would appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks!
    J.

    Kirk,
Again, thanks. I'm getting the hang of the editing part, but am now uncertain as to how to add the music to the videos I've strung together.
Must the song I want to put on it be exactly equal to the length of the movie?
Is there anyway to just have part of the song play?
Isn't there just a drag and drop function like on Windows Movie Maker in which the length of the video will determine how much of the song will be played?
I'm still confused as to how the actual process works. I understand all of the Select All and Copy and Paste. I just don't know where to copy the music so I can paste it on top, or where to go about doing that.
Again, thanks. You've been very helpful.

  • Flash in Quicktime Pro

I have quicktime pro. Is there any way to get it to convert videos to .flv without buying Adobe Flash? If I download the Flash trial, will the capability to convert videos to flash stay with me?

To make a flvs from Quicktime. You need Quicktime Pro to be able to do this conversion.
Make a h.264 .mov in Quicktime Pro. Select the h.264 .mov in the Finder. Change the .mov extension to .flv...done.

  • QuickTime Pro follow-up

I want to compress video and audio I shoot with Photo Booth so I can attach it in an email. What is the best format? Do I need QuickTime Pro? Will QuickTime Pro help?
    Thanks

You can indeed use QuickTime Pro. There's even a super easy feature that shrinks and compresses the video and audio and automatically sends the file to Apple's Mail and embeds it in an email message. I just used that to take an 8.7MB movie file, 720x540 with a stereo MP3 sound track, selected Share in the File menu, clicked the Email button, selected size Small, and it was reduced to 490KBs, 160x120, sound AAC Mono. Tiny thing. If you use some other email program, or want something a bit larger, you can choose Export, tinker with settings to get what you want. For instance, I chose MPEG-4, got 352x288 dimensions, mono AAC sound, and a file size of 1.3MBs (I have Perian installed as well as QT Pro). There's another Export option that makes a quite nice file, although you have to dig for it--you select Export for Web, select a folder, have it export for the iPhone, then go to the folder and retrieve the .m4v file. It is about 1/4 the size (in this case 2.1MBs), 480x360 with stereo sound and excellent quality.
In short, you can get what you want, how much effort you need depends on exactly what you want, everything from the extremely easy (a couple of mouse clicks), to options requiring more work and more technical knowledge.

  • Question about Quicktime pro

I bought a 30 GB ipod today, and i'm wondering if quicktime pro is required to play movies on my ipod? I'm confused wether it is required to convert current movies on your PC so they are able to be played or just needed for even watching them on the ipod. I cannot put any movie type progam on my ipod, and i'm current downloading a movie from the istore, will the movie from the istore be the right format or will i need quicktime pro? Help please!

Pro is needed to make an iPod movie in Quicktime but there are freewares available to do the job. You don't need Pro to play them on an iPod. One freeware to make them is this program: Mpeg StreamClip

  • APPLE RIPPED ME OFF!!! ON QUICKTIME PRO

I paid for the Upgrade on-line and STILL NO PRO!
I have added the activation code rebooted several times, opened and closed QuickTime several times.
    AND STILL NO QUICKTIME!
I think I will have to contact my credit card company to have this charge disputed!
This is NOT RIGHT. They don't even return my emails. IT IS A SCAM!
APPLE, if you are reading this RESPOND PLEASE!
I want to get my money back or the PRO Activated.

    Yes, same problem!!!!!!!!!
I used my key number in Quicktime 7.02 and it won't take.
When I hit "Apply" the button stays down, and when I hit okay, the whole registration menu goes away and nothing comes up stating that it has been installed.
The reason I ordered it is because in the Apple Tutorial on Video Ipod it says I need "QuickTime Pro" in order to convert files to be seen on the video IPOD. After I purchased it and have spent HOURS trying to get PRO to work, I read where I don't need it...#$$%^%^^@$##
I called and asked for support and this very rude lady named Nicole told me they don't provide tech support on QuickTime and I would have to send an email. I went onto the site and I couldn't find anyplace to send an email to tech support.
This is a rip....and it is absolutely ridculous.
I'm totally without any solutions other than to call my credit card company and dispute it.
    Don't know what to do.
