HT2470 Can Internet explorer be installed in Macbook pro

1.Can Internet explorer be installed in Macbook pro?
2.Can I have dual boot in my Macbook pro - with Mac and Windows ??

No, unless you install Windows, which you can certainly do. Boot Camp allows you to install any number of different operating systems.
If you're trying to use a website that refuses to load because it demands Internet Exploder, I suggest enabling the Develop menu in Safari's Preferences, and selecting a User Agent that placates the website.

How do i install internet explorer 11 to my macbook air

Internet Explorer is for Windows only and could be considered to be malware
Therefore the only options to do this are -
Install Windows in to a virtual machine using either VMware Fusion, Parallels, or VirtualBox, and then you can run Internet Explorer as normal
Or, install Internet Explorer via CodeWeavers "CrossOver Mac" - see http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=12714 however while older versions of Internet Explorer are working newer versions look like they don't work with this method.

  • I want to re-install my Pre-Installed Lion Macbook Pro, but I can't get the Lion OS from App Store with my Apple ID. Please help, thanks!

Hi, I want to do a clean re-installation of my end 2011 Macbook Pro which comes with pre-installed Lion OS. I go through the installation steps and after App Store verified my Apple ID, it prompted me that I did not purchase the Lion OS. I am very surprise to see this message which my pre-installed Lion Macbook Pro should have it. Please help and advise how can I get the OS? All other bundle softwares were in the purchase record except the Lion OS.

That was my mistake - sorry - it IS Command-R to boot to the Recovery disk, not Command-D: I either just hit the wrong key or am just now coming awake from my nap.
Let me see if I can just explain it in a few steps - I don't know of any link (but it would make a good User Tip):
Create an up-to-the minute back-up of your internal hard drive using an external hard drive and Time Machine.
Boot to your recovery partion - holding down Command-R on boot.
Use Disk Utility to erase Macintosh HD - use one GUID partition and format as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Unless you're selling the machine, there's no need to do a secure erase (which can take hours).
After you erase the disk, re-install Lion from the same Recovery partition.
After installation is complete, reboot, again holding down the Command-R keys to boot into the Recovery Partition.
Restore your Time Machine back-up. This could take several hours.
Reboot after restore and you're back in business.
That should take care of everything - all you need is an Internet connection.
Call back if I didn't explain things too well - at least I got the Command-R right this time!

  • Can Internet Explorer (IE) be downloaded to and used on the late 2008 model of iMac running OS X 1.9.5?

Can Internet Explorer (IE) be downloaded to and used on the late 2008 model of iMac running OS X 1.9.5? If yes, where can it be downloaded from?

Only if you run Windows. IE does not work on a Mac without Windows.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • What is largest solid state drive I can install in MacBook Pro 8,2?  I want to perform a clean install of Mavricks and dump my old hard drive.

What is largest solid state drive I can install in MacBook Pro 8,2?  I want to perform a clean install of Mavricks and dump my old hard drive.

If the bank account permits, I suggest getting a 1 TB SSD anyway.  One cannot have too much storage.
Unless you are having issues with your current installation, a 'clean' install is not necessary.  It would be more efficient to clone your current drive to the new SSD, test it, and then do the swap.  The installation of Mavericks over Snow Leopard can be done either before or after the cloning process.
    Ciao.

  • OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 can't be installed on MacBook Pro retina late 2013

OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 can't be installed on MacBook Pro retina late 2013
OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 installer is available in the App Store but it can't be downloaded because "OS X Mavericks can't be installed on this computer".
If the installer of version 10.9 is already in the application folder it can't be updated for the same reason.
I've seen that they are two versions of the updater that are downloadable from apple's website and one is specific for the MacBook Pro retina late 2013.
I suspect that the installer in the App Store is not an universal installer. It is stupid because you can't reinstall that Mac is needed.
I phoned to Apple (AppleCare) and they don't know why this happens.

    Hello,
Try to boot the 15" MBPr as target when connected to your MBA (if you have the right cables and adapters).
From the MBA, install on the 15" MBPr's disk, in that order :
The 10.9.1 update for Mavericks except MBPr
    Download
and then the 10.9.1 update for Mavericks specific for MBPr
    Download
The MBPr should be bootable again. I did it for an external HD.
    Hope this helps.
    Best,
    ÉrIC Miclo

    Hi,
Does the issue happen to all users? What’s your IE version? Is there any error when you access OWA 2007 in IE?
Please click Compatibility View settings in your Internet Explorer. Then, add the OWA site to the list of sites to be viewed in compatibility view and check whether the issue persists.

  • New HDD formatted externally but reverts when installed in MacBook Pro

Hello! I apologize if this is really long. I'm hoping someone can help me out!
My MacBook Pro recently crashed. I woke it from sleep one evening and was greeted with a flashing folder & question mark. I ended up using this as an excuse to upgrade  from the original 500gb HDD and purchased a new 1TB Seagate HDD (Model : STBD1000100 ) I installed the new HDD and booted from the Internet Recovery system. From there I entered Disc Utility and tried to format the HDD. No luck. When I would try to partition it how I was supposed to, it gives me an error saying it cannot create a partition or even erase the drive. After searching this site, I found a tutorial on how to do it external. I put the new HDD into a case and plugged it in via USB. From here I was able to format the HDD and even install OSX Lion (this is what my Mac came with.). After formatting and installing the operating system, I reinstalled the HDD into my Mac. I plugged in the external HDD I have been using since the crash & opened up start up disk. When the options came up, the new HDD wasn't there! I went into Disk Utility again to make sure it was at least recognizing the HDD. DU showed the hard drive but when I clicked on it, it said the drive was unformatted and the partition I had made previously was now renamed and grayed out. I can't modify it in anyway.
Am I doing something wrong? Can someone give me the steps on how to properly do this if I am doing it wrong? Or, could it be my SATA cable?
    Thanks for reading!
    Macbook Pro-> Mid 2012
Error Message Given in Disk Utility -> "Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed."

If you take the new 1 TB HDD out and connect it to the MBP via USB, will it boot the MBP?  If so the internal SATA cable is in all probability the offender.  First try the poor man's approach:
    http://macperformanceguide.com/blog/2011/20110415_1_Tinfoilfix--howto.html
If no success, then a new SATA cable will probably be required,  An Apple store genius bar appointment will confirm this.
    Ciao.

  • Best way to get Internet Explorer 6.0 on Mac Pro

I need Internet Explorer 6 on my Mac Pro in order to copy write literary works through the US Copy Write Office. What is the safest and best way to do this?

    Hi...
Microsoft has not written IE for Mac for years.
In order to run IE on a Mac you would have to install Windows using BookCamp located in /Applications/Utlities or by using virtualization software such as VMWare.
You can enable the Develop menu in Safari > Preferences > Advanced then from the Develop menu click Develop > User Agent but even at that, only IE 7, 8, or 9 are available and there's no guarantee that will work.

  • Recent convert to Apple. Previously, I backed up my family pictures from PC to an external hard drive,  a WD MyBook 3T. I can view the pics on my Macbook Pro, but I can't add new pictures. I'm sure this is a format issue, any easy way to correct it?

    Install NTFS 3G
    http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/
If you were going to be reading and writing to a NTFS System Partition, you might have to worry about the instability messing up the operating system.  However, you are reading/writing from a non system, backup device so you don't have to worry about screwing up an operating system.
I would still temporarily move my data to another device and reformat the drive for Mac OS X Extended.

  • I need to totally format my macbook pro 13" mid 2009, can i use my friend's macbook pro 13's dvds?

my macbook pro 13 is originally shipped with mac os x 10.5.7, now with 10.6.8, but i dont have the dvds with me, i also dont want any of the information on it, can i use my friend's macbook pro 13's dvds? what can i do?
My macbook pro 13" dvds have these on them
DVD 1: 13 inch macbook pro mac os x install dvd version 10.5.7 2Z691-6468-A Disc version 1.1
DVD 2: 13 inch macbook pro applications install dvd disc  AHT version 3A174 disc version 1.0   2Z691-6458-A
    My friend's macbook pro 13
DVD 1: 13 INCH MACBOOK PRO MAC OS X INSTALL DVD Mac os x version 10.6.7 Disk version 1.2
DVD 2: 12 in macbook pro applications install dvd AHT version 3A21 Disc version 1.1
Would my friend's dvds work to format my macbook pro to factory settings as if out of the box?
i also had windows running on my mac, i used disc utility to erase the partition for windows, not bootcamp, so the partition is empty, i cant get the main hard drive extended as it was before because it gives me a message saying "could not modify partition map because filesystem verification failed", and when i try to verify it through disc utility it says that i need to my os x dvd and repair it, if i just format it, will that all go away?
    thank you

    Simple answer is no.
    Slightly more complicated answer;
You may be able to boot from the disc and use Disk Utility to partition and wipe the HDD (though it may not boot at all).
You can't install an OS from the other computer's discs. It simply will not allow the installation.
You would also be violating the software licence agreement.
As your originals are 10.5.x, you can buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (10.6.3) and format and install from that.

  • How do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

how do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

    Ok.
I am connected to wi-fi through TC connected to a specific router and is working perfectly and saving data through TM without any issues.
The TC version is 7.6.1 and am using OS 10.7.3
The router mode is on Bridge mode and router is connected to TC through USB cable, I suppose for internet access. My Mac is on wi-fi through TC
I have another location, much further, which recently have been installed with wi-fi through router that has WPA accessibiulity with password, 100% different than the current one.
Since, I will be most of my time in this new location, I wish to move my TC to this new location, and configure it in similar fashion like what I am having right now.
Naturally, I do not wish to lose any saved data on the TC.
Hope I managed to provide enought info.
    Thanks in advance
