My Mac book Pro seems to have a power problem. I have used a telstra prepaid USB for 18 months as broadband. It has been great.
Yesterday, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox.
Sometimes later, I got a message that the USB ( telstra broadband toogle) had been disabled because it was drawing too much power from the computer and could cause damage.
I trashed Mozilla to see if that would fix the problem - it didn't.
I tried a second USB and got the same message.
I notice that the power % to my computer is slowly dimishing, even though I have the computer plugged in.
Looks like I have a reasonable problem.
Can anyone tell me how to sort out the problem please?

This is your problem. The mechanical switch is stuck.. Do you see a red light when you look in there? SOme do some don't.
You need to use the headphone jack several times in and outt with the intention of flipping the switch.
Some use a a non metal piece to flip the switch manually- I would recommend caution here.

Why does my mac book Pro pick up wifi but my new ipad wont in the exact same position in my house?

I sit in my lounge with my mac book pro and it picks up my home wifi perfectly yet when i sit with my ipad, sometimes it works and picks it it but then at times it looses the connection and I cant find the hub?? why is this and is there anything I can do to stop it from happening?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I am trying to connect my ipad version of garage band to my mac book pro so as to record directly from the ipad as a midi instrument but with no success. Can you help?

I am trying to connect my ipad to my mac book pro. I want to use the ipad as a software instrument (playing from garage band) and to record in garage band on the mac book. I have plugged the ipad in, turned on the ipad and opened up garage band but the mac book pro has not picked it up. Why? Any suggestions.

Maybe it should, I'm all PC here so I can't actually test it myself. As far as I can recall all the stuff I've read has GarageBand for iOS acting as the recording instrument in the MIDI relationship rather than an input device for something else.
Could be worth posting to GarageBand for iOS Feedback and suggesting it as a feature.

Why won't my Mac Book Pro shut down?

My Mac Book pro isn't shuttting down. I've clicked the apple icon on the left > shutdown. But nothing happens it just shows this rainbow wheel for a few seconds. I can't also control my volume and screen brightness with my keys any more and system preferences is not responding.. Help! Please!

Alright.., I will try this and hope i´ll do it right. My (a little older ) MacBook Pro has the same problem, it just wont shut down. Things works kind of fine until I shall shut it down, cause then the wheel will spin and spin and spin (and it goes to sleep still spinning), so it must be some corrupted files or app that is stuck. I just bought MacOs10.6.3 to reinstall or recover the harddrive, but I´ve never done these things on a Mac before. I have formated in Windows alright, but I am worried about the drivers, I dont know how to back them up! ??? Where do I find them? I hope I dont have to wipe the disc out fully, that it helps with just some cleaning up. I will come back after my "operation".. please wish me good luck! I really dont want it to crash completely.. My mac book pro isn't loading any safari page, the blue loading bar starts to move then freezes....
Also if I try to access the App Store it won't load then says unable to connect to App Store

And now after logging in I get a white screen.....omg what's wrong with it?!

HT4061 iTunes will not open when my iPhone 4S is attached to my Mac Book Pro. iTunes will start up but as soon as my iPhone appears in the list of devices the program then quits and displays the message 'iTune Quit Unexpectedly'? Can anybody help?

The Problem/s
1. I am unable to sync my iPhone 4S with my Mac Book Pro, either by cable, wifi or bluetooth
2. iTunes will initiall open and briefly identifies the iPhone in the Device section in iTunes.
3. When iTunes starts to read the iPhone (displaying the spinning wheel), it immediately then quits and
4. Opens a 'dialogue box' which displays the message "iTunes Quit Unexpectedly"
5 The dialoge box offers the following button options to:-
'Show Details'
The 'Show Details' button will open and display a list of the 'Problem Details and System Configeration'. To the average user the information is useless, as one doesn't know what to look for to solve the problem. This is a long and detailed report (too long to include in this message), which includes information such as:-
Crashed Thread: 20
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000000006f0
'OK'
The 'Ok' button simply quits and closes the dialogue box
'Reopen'
The 'Reopen' button will again reopen iTunes, briefly showing that it is trying to read the iPhone in the Devices section, but then returns again to display the same dialogue box.
Other Information
1. iTunes will still start normally once the USB cable is removed from the Mac book Pro, but crashes again once the USB cable is reattached to the computer
Any advice or help offered would be greatly appreciated.

I got a DELL u2410 with my mac book pro and the reader or the USB port is not working. How come the laptop doesnt detect this even if the screen works?

Not seen the 2410 - but previous USB devices in the screens required a standard A-B usb cable from the computer to the screen - look for the squarish USB socket on the monitor somewhere, probably tucked up under the lip where all the connectors push in vertically upwards (on previous Dell WS screens)

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

The Touch Copy third party software for PC's is the way to go it seems and although the demo is free, if you have over 100 songs then it costs £15 to buy the software which seems not a lot to pay for peace of mind. and restoring your iTunes library back to how it was.

Mac Book Pro 17" 2006 version won't pick wireless signal with Airport update 7.5.2 and later.

My 2006 old 17" Mac Book pro is won't connect to Airport Extreme older version with update 7.5.2 and also with 7.6.2. In fact if I implement that update airport extreme will transmit over channel 100 which my Mac pro is unable to pick. Any advise ?

Now I know I am talking to someone who knows the problem; I have checked with the site you advised me and I can tell you that my 17"MacBokk Pro (I am sorry for the mistake on first message) is one of them; in fact I have purchased that Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler. However I forgot to tell you that my Airport Extreme base is transmitting at 5Ghz with the n protocol and my MacBook Pro has been working very well utill I tryed to update the Airport base to that 7.5.2 version: at that point my MacBook has never been able to pick the signal any more unless going backward to 7.4.2. In doing some experiments, I have found that with version 7.4.2, my Mac was picking the 5Ghz signal at channel # 44, instead, with the update 7.5.2 and later, the base started to transmit to channel # 100 and it looks like my MacBook is unable to go over the 44 channel ! (one more thing: my Mac has Leopard 10.5.8 OS). I have tryed to change the channel in the Airport base back to # 44, but my model (my Airport Extreme base is not the last model) do not allow to change the channel selection to "manual": there is only one selection "automatic". This is why I tryed to see if my Airport Extreme card (Wireless card firmware version 1.4.16.2) was not fit to received and transmit data on channels over 44.
If you have any idea that will be greatly appreciated; any how thank you very much for your time and help.
