  • Exchange email will not work after IOS 5.1 update. Anyone else having same problem. Its been three days now I cannot get mail.

Exchange Email not working on Iphone 4S is anyone else having the same problem and is there a fix for this?

    @ w3nitro
I'm having the same issues, except only one of my Exchange accounts took a dive after upgrading to iOS 5.1.  My Gmail account (set up as Exchange) works flawlessly but my native Exchange account (work e-mail) stopped working after the update.
Post update to 5.1:  (work Exchange account) I could view my inbox and view individuals emails in the inbox, but I was unable to send any emails.  Mail started asking for my password after the update (for the affected Exchange account) but once entered, it failed to verify.
I completley removed the Exchange account and rentered all the account settings but again, failure to verify any information.  I was hoping my password might have changed but it did not.  Also, maybe the IT guy at the office (not very bright) changed some settings but the only difference is the new iOS update.
And while playing with the iPhone trying to make it work again, I noticed something really weird.  Old emails (2-3 weeks) from multiple email accounts to include the inop Exchange account started showing up again on the pull down notification menu.  I would clear these out of the notificaion menu but they always kept reapearing; very strange.

  • I would like to use my work exchange email on my macbook pro.  But I cannot insult it.  I have not problem as on my iPhone or iPad.  My work IT person does not know what is wrong.

I would like to use my work exchange email on my macbook pro.  But I cannot install it.  I have no problem my work email on my iPhone or iPad.  My work IT person does not know what is wrong.  Why I try to set up the email I get the message that it cannot connect to this server.

Try going into System Prefereces then Mail, Cintacts & Calendars then click on the Microsoft Exchange link on the right. Type in your email address and password and allow it to set it up automatically.
Make sure your Mac is updated to the newest version of Mail.
If that still fails then I suggest you switch email clients. I don't care for the built in mail program. IMHO it is very buggy.

  • HT2480 Ipad mini - exchange email stopped working randomly  Error: "Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed."

I got an iPad mini over Christmas and have had no issues setting up/managing my email until yesterday. I've had my Exchange email working for almost a month, and yesterday I stopped getting emails and getting the error: "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed."
I tried resetting the device (multiple times) and deleting and recreating the Exchange account (multiple times). This is getting annoying because it worked fine up until yesterday. I'm not aware of any updates to the device, or any changes that have occurred since yesterday.

Due to a screen issue, I had my iPhone 5 replaced two days ago. I repeated deleted the mail account and kept adding it but this did not make any difference. When I attempted to setup the new phone with my Google (Gmail via exchange active sync) accounts I was receiving this same "Cannot Get Mail" error. From what I was able to gather, this problem should be affecting Gmail accounts set up via Exchange. When originally purchasing the phone I was assisted and directed to set up my Gmail account through Exchange because it had the ability to use "ActiveSync" and push not only mail and calendars, but all of my contacts as well. I found this article regarding the subject.
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2413283,00.asp
What it came down to was having to delete my Gmail via Exchange account and separate it into two different accounts, a regular gmail account for my mail and a CardDAV account for my contacts.
Here is what I did. Google is changing their system and for new registrars Exchange ActiveSync will not work so you will be unable to register your account via Exchange and have your mail, calenders, and contacts all pushed together. I find this change really annoying. If you are having problems accessing your contacts after deleting the mail account, like I was, here is the work around.
To circumvent this issue go to Setting > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDAV Account: Under server ender google.com, then your email user name and password, then click next to verify the information.
    I hope this helps.

  • Exchange Email Problem

I have configured my exchange email on my iPhone. I was reading the mail on my phone and at the same time the mail got downloaded on my laptop email client. Email stays in the iPhone inbox forever doesnt delete. Any suggestions to this problem?

I don't understand your problem. What you've described is how Exchange works...
When you access an Exchange email account on your iPhone/iPad, all of the messages you see in your inbox exist on the Exchange server. Your messages are not downloaded to the phone and then deleted from the server. Technically your phone does "download" a copy of the message, but that is basically a cached copy. With Exchange you are working "live" on the server. If you delete a message on your iPhone, the message is deleted from the server, and vice versa. Your desktop client is likely an Exchange-compatible client, like Outlook, and the same is true on the desktop.
On the iPhone you can limit how much mail is shown in the inbox by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > your email account > Mail Days to Sync. Changing the number of days will change how many days of messages are available on your phone, but understand this does not delete messages from the Exchange server.
Let me know if you have questions or I need to explain things better.

  • Problem with exchange email

Hi, I just purchased an iPhone 3G. I setup my exchange email at the office. When I am connected to the Wi-Fi network at the office the email, calendar, and contacts will sync perfectly. Once I disconnect from the Wi-Fi, the email will sync just fine until I connect to another Wi-Fi network, or until the phone locks up (which happened yesterday after having the phone 3 days, extremely disappointing). Any advice?

I've put small sleeps in without help. I don't know how long it might be taking. I don't want to keep adding delays until the app appears to hang. Also this is a more recent phenomena, it used to work fine.
We did have some replication problems in the past but those were alleviated by using the -domaincontroller parameter and making sure all commands run on the same server.
the weird thing is if it is replication I don't know to what. The object is indeed gone or I would get an "already exists" error when I create the user object. the server does not see any object but the address policy still sees the addresses somewhere.

  • IOS6...exchange email account problems....iPad

I just installed iOS6 on my iPhone 4 and "new iPad"....had a lot of issues with icloud but seemed to have resolved those issues. However, my exchange email and hotmail live account will not sync on my iPad. The iPhone appears to have adapted well, but the iPad will not sync email with either account. I actually went as far as deleting both accounts on the iPad and re-installing. Upon installation the iPad downloads all email, but still will not push and sync future messages. Any ideas?!?!

    UPDATE!
I think it has something to do with the iCloud. It appears that when I am able to view the storage data in the iCloud, the email push / sync works fine. However, for unknown reasons, sometimes the iPad looses availablilty to iCloud. At that point, the push / sync no longer works. I have to shut off and reboot the iPad in order for it to reconnect with iCloud.
I'm not sure why the iCloud is affecting hotmail and microsoft exchange email accounts, but it appears that this is when the function no longer works.
Is anyone else having this same issue?

  • Problem with Exchange email in Yosemite

My Exchange email account has two addresses associated with it. On the iPhone (6, iOS 8.1), it sees both of them, but with my upgrade to Yosemite, it sees only the emails with the address listed in Accounts. Incoming emails to the other address appear on the iPhone, but not on my MacBook Pro (Retina, mid 2012). There is no way to give another address in Accounts, and you cannot add an additional Exchange account with the same username. Does anybody have a solution?

Terribly sorry for the long delay in replying (Work, Life, etc. BUSY).
The send as option is set to "Account of selected mailbox". I set it to the flast@ account specifically yet the behavior does not change.
Still not working as it should in Yosemite either.

  • IOS 7.1 and Exchange email problem

When I check my email, the iphone reloads all the emails, as if it were the first time. The only thing different is the upgrade to ios 7.1. Is anyone else experiencing this.
I have the iphone 5 and connect to an Exchange Server for work email.

    Hello JohnSantaMonica,
It sounds like whenever you open your Mail app, all the Exchange emails download again as though you just set up the account. I recommend starting by closing the Mail app:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Exchange Emails Not Showing Up On IPhone with Outlook Client Closed

I have been trying to fix this problem and I want to see if anybody else has run across this issue and found the fix. I am having a problem accessing Exchange Emails from my work system, but only under the following scenario:
    1) When my work PC is powered on, logged in, and Outlook client is up and active I can send and receive emails on my IPhone with no problems and it correctly displays read and unread messages.
    but...
    2) When I close my Outlook client on my PC my IPhone is no longer able to retrieve new email messages. I have had this problem since first getting the 3G phone in August of '08 and it is has been updated with each firmware release but the problem persists.
This is driving me crazy, any help or confirmation that others are experiencing the problem is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you select one month for mail days to sync, only one month's worth will be synced and available - the last month which will be constantly changing to the most recent 30 days. Select No Limit for Mail Days to Sync.
Show 1000 recent messages is for the selected mailbox only and if there are more than 1000 messages in a mailbox and you have one month for mail days to sync selected, if the last 30 days for the mailbox includes 100 messages, only 100 messages will be available.
Are these additional server stored mailboxes separate mailboxes and what I mean by that is not sub-mailboxes for the Inbox mailbox?
Since you have had this issue with other operating systems, the common denominator is your Hotmail account. Have you contacted Hotmail technical support regarding this issue you have had with other operating systems?
All server stored mailboxes with an Exchange account should be available with the email client used to access the account. If all are not available when accessing the account as an Exchange account with an email client, something is wrong with your setup for these mailboxes at the server level.

  • Changing ipod's exchange email address

Hi, i recently deleted my old exchange email address ( it was old and childish ), but i can't change it to my new email adrdress.
Here's the problem:  i have no idea what to fill out in the server field... (lol, iam really is bad technology) but what is it?? my email adress is ***.***@ GMAIL.com So is ''Gmail'' what i have to fill out? each time i fill ''gmail'' in the server field it keeps verifying and verifying but it always ends up saying: '' unable to verify account information''
Please help!!!!!! It's really bugging me now because i can't check my emails from my ipod anymore!!!
And if someone actually understands me, can you please explain step by step the things i have to do and fill out? i already checked out this site: http://http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2480, but from the 3rd step ( in the link below) i dont know what to do!!!!
    Thank you.

Agree 100% with Ben.  SIP address matching the email address is best practice and is absolutely viable, nearly 100% of deployments I've seen use this with the exception of a small handful of internal-only shops.
When users sign in with external/mobile they will need both the SIP address and AD address during sign in, but once entered it will be cached and will not need to be entered repeatedly.
As Ben mentioned, the large benefit comes from federated communications.  You don't have to tell anyone your SIP address, they can just communicate with you because they know your email address.

  • Access to Exchange email from smartphones

I am in the mioddle of a SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 migration.  I have the Exchange Server running on the new server and have run into a problem with accessing some of the email accounts via smartphones.
The email works fine from the deskop, as does the Remote Web Access (I can log in and run OWA without any problems>.
I configured 2 user smartphones and was able to access their Exchange email accounts.  I did have to accept all SSL certifictaes, so I have a certificate issue somewhere which may or may not be related to the issue.
When I went to configure the other user accounts on their respective phones (one droid and one iPhone), both responded with an unknown error occurred and a message to check the username and/or password.
I can use Remote web access and access email via OWA, thus confirming the account and password.
I even tried to configure the failed account on one of the smartphones that worked and it too failed again with the same error.  This seems to imply a configuration problem with that email account (but I have not been able to find any differences
between the working and failed acounts).
I am a novice at Exchange and could use siome direction as to what else to look for that can explain why a couple of email accounts worked and others do not.
    Thanks
    Tony.....

    Hi,
Have you checked on Exchange managemente console, inside the user mailbox properties  if activesync communication is enabled?

  • Cannot sync with my exchange email.

I just got an Iphone 4s and cannot sync with my exchange email. I get the error " Cannot Get Mail" The connection to the server failed. I have another Iphone that works fine the only difference is the one that works has not been update with the latest IOS. When I put the information in to verify the account the phone verifies without any issues. When i go to check and pull mail down it fails.

I am sure all of you got your email issues sorted out by now but i was having trouble settings up exchange email on my Iphone 5S, and the problem i found was to go to settings, icloud, then log into icloud with your apple id first (before setting up the exchange email).  Once i logged into my icloud account on my Phone 5S, the exchange server email starting working and synching right away.
to confirm this worked, i even deleted my email account and deleted my Icloud accounts both from my iphone was able to simulated the same exact problem (exchange server would not sync with my Iphone 5S) until i logged back into my Icloud account on my 5S.
Again once i logged into Icloud, the exchange server issues went completely away.
Just wanted to post this so anyone else having the issue could see.

  • Exchange email says incorrect password

I've set up a microsoft exchange email on my iphone, and it worked great for a few hours, but now it keeps popping up and telling me I have the wrong password. I haven't changed the password and I entered the same one in my phone that I use to log in via computer. I am 100% certain I've entered the right password. Is there something I can do to fix this?

What you are getting might be different. An *Incorrect Password* message on a POP3 account means that either a session did not complete or another computer is accessing the POP3 server. It is NOT an iPhone error or even a problem; that is what is supposed to happen.
This should never occur on an IMAP or Exchange Activesync account, however, as these protocols were designed to support multiple clients accessing the same server. When POP3 was devised it was assumed that no one would ever receive email on more than one computer; the result is this and other annoying quirks.
I have never seen that error on an Exchange account on the iPhone.
