HT2486 address book

I have groups set up in my address book. How Do I send an email to the group without having to pull each name? Also, It used to allow me to access the address book when I was writing an email. Now I cannot figure out how to make that work? This seems limited!

In Mail, click New Message.
Then select View > Customize Toolbar, and drag the "Address" icon into the toobar. (You may want to do that with Reply and Forward as well).
When you're composing a new message, click the Address icon in the toolbar and select the group you want. Then either click "To" (to copy all the addresses) or drag the group to the "To" field in the new message.

HT2486 address book won't open

Address Book won't open last 4 days. It is OPEN but I cannot use it. Rt click SHOW ALL WINDOWS and I see Address Book and my contacts are there. I click on Address Book and it Disappears ie- Minimizes back to an ICON in teh DOCK.
Can't find a solution. HELP

Might be corrupted preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy / paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.

Have you tried resetting your sort option in Address Book / Preferences? Change it from whatever you have it (e.g. First Name) to the other choice. Then try to Search a contact. If it works, then go back in and reset it to what you had it before.

HT2486 Address book data loss / iMac 10.5.8 / despite backing up on a NAS all data lost, including in the backup. How can I retrieve it? Thanks

Help! All my address book data disappeared from one day to the next. I entered my NAS back-up but all the address books going back in time are empty.
Then I got clever and thought I would sync my contacts from my iPhone 4 to my iMac. Brilliant idea - now all my iPhone contacts are gone as well except for 14 address that must have been input after my last sync with iTunes.
Can anyone help my find my lost data?

HT2486 Address book assigning images on its own.

Images getting changed by address book. From time to time, AB unilaterally decides to change a few contacts images, or to attach images from other contacts to contacts without an image. Anybody seen the same problem ?

You're not using Address Book correctly; you need to enter both a First and Last Name for each contact; not just a Last Name, or in All Caps. Mail and Address Book communicate, so when you receive an email from someone in Address Book, their name as they associated it with their email address when the account was setup is sent to Address Book and updated immediately.
That's why you will end up with double first names or last names, depending on what you entered. The solution is not to do that and use Address Book correctly.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.AddressBook.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Try launching Address Book ..
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.

HT2486 Address Book and emails

Question - In my address book I file people under their married name, eg Mr and Mrs M Brown. I want to send an email to Jane Brown but it keeps on showing it in the email as M Brown and won't let me change it to the email address, eg. [email protected] How can I stop it doing that?

HT2486 Address book quits so I can't correct the settings

Is there a way to change my address book settings without opening the program?
Every time I try to open the program, it quits because the settings are off.

Settings>General>Accessabilty>Large Text

I added one contact now I can't get my details to open in the address book, I have to double click on the name and it opens in a separate window and I can't change it. HELP! It's driving me nuts!
I also can't import my contacts from OUTLOOK on my Windows laptop and forget Migration assistant!

At this point, I don't know of you would need to remove those, also. When you throw away the iCloud one, it will take a few moments for the iCloud contacts to reindex.

HT2486 Address book glitches.

My Address book is starting to "act up" have problems and glitches. Anyone experince these things and how does one fix or even reload address book to end these crazy, frustrating issues.

HT2486 address book did not migrate

I am having trouble getting my address book to come up on Lion. can someone help me out?

I found a fix! Not sure why it works, but it does.
Find Library folder by hitting Option key and Go Menu in Finder. Library is hidden now.
I copied my Addressbook folder from User/Library/ApplicationSupport/Addressbook to my desktop.
I then deleted my Metadata folder in the Address book folder ( still in Library). Someone said that might help. It made it worse.
So, I trashed the entire Addressbook folder in Library and put back my original Address Book folder.
Volia! All works like new. Don;t ask me why. God helped me! :>

I cannot search/find contacts but they are definitely in the book. Any clue as to how to repair this? I do not have a problem on my iPad, laptop, or iPhone.
