How do you enter an extension to a phone number in contacts?

From OSX daily:The easiest way is through your iPhone or add a semicolon ";" NOT a comma in Mac Address book .
Though you’ve long been able to add automatically dialed extensions to contacts on the iPhone, the newest versions of iOS handle extensionsmuch more intelligently, allowing you to create a “Dial Extension” button to any specific contact. That extension dialer can be activated manually, making the navigation of telephony menus infinitely easier, here’s how to quickly add this to a contact:
Open Contacts and tap the contact name to add the extension to, then tap the “Edit” button
Tap the phone number entry, place the cursor at the end, then tap the “+*#” button to access additional options
Choose “wait” then enter the extension afterwards, it will add a semicolon and the extension afterwards to the address appearing like so: 1-888-555-5555;123
Tap “Done” and exit out of contacts
Now dial the contact to discover a “Dial 123″ button has appeared, tap that whenever you want to dial the extension
The extensions can also be added from a Mac in Contacts (Address Book) by adding a semicolon to numbers followed by an extension, just be sure to sync it through the same iCloud account or it won’t go over to the iPhone.
Anyone who frequently uses extensions to reach specific people at an office, or anyone who has battled an automated phone system knows how useful this can be. You can even set a string of numbers, though the Dial button remains the same.

  • How can you add an extension to a phone number

How is it possible to add an extension to a phone number in contacts, so that when you call the number its extension direct  dials?

To begin, determine which contact you want to add the phone extension to
Then, in either your phone app or Contacts app, tap that contact
Tap the "Edit" button at the top right of the contact
Tap the phone number you want to add the extension to
Tap the "+*#" button at the bottom left of the screen
When the new options come up on the screen, you'll see a "pause" button at the bottom center. Tap that
That will add a comma to the phone number. After the comma has been added to the phone number, type in the person's phone extension

  • How Do You Add An Extension For A Phone Number?

I wanted to add an extension after the phone number for a contact, how do I do that?

    Hello:
AS indicated, you would just add it after the last part of the number (in that box).

  • How do I add an extension to the phone number in Contacts.

I want to add phone extensions to the main phone number in contacts.  How do I do it?

From what I read, using a comma to separate the main number from the extension should work.  It inserts a pause, with each additional comma increasing the length of the pause.  So:
    4155551234,,3710484
might be long enough for the automated system to pick up and reach the point where it'll accept the extension number.  If not, add more commas.
Commas will also sync to your iPhone if you have one, and work as intended.

  • How do I add an extension to a phone number in Contacts 7.1?

Now that the perfectly servicable Address Book has been replaced by overly complicated Contacts 7.1 in OS 10.8.3, I cannot add an extention to a telephone number. A phone number with an extention ends up looking like "4155551234ext3710484". Creating a new field named "ext" doesn't help, as any number entered into this field that is longer than 3 digits is autoformated to a phone number. Some of my contacts now have 6 digit extensions!
Contacts Help is no help whatsoever. Very frustrating.

  • How do you add an extension to a phone number in iCloud?

I just attempted to edit a contact's business telephone by adding an extension to the end.
Here's what the number looked like to start:  (212) 555-1234
    My goal:  (212) 555-1234 x101
What resulted in iCloud when I hit save:  2125551234101
I tried several different ways of formatting the addition of the extension, but none worked.  The results all ended up exactly the same.  Anyone have any insight as to how to make this work?
    Thanks much!

  • How do you sent an email blast to a number of contacts on a regular basis?

How do you send an email blast to a nuber of contacts on a regular basis?

Other than selecting each of the contacts individually, in the native Mail app, you can't. You'll need to explore third party mail apps from the app store for that.

  • How do you send an iMessage with my phone number, not an email address

Ever since I have had this iPhone on pay as you go with Vodafone in September, I have not had an option to use my phone number, it doesn't bother me as such but my friends get annoyed as one hour I'd reply on text as their contact and the next it will use iMessage when I have Internet as my apple Id email address. How do I do this!!!!

There is no option, just emails. I signed out of apple Id and signed back in, it asked me to use either my number of email so I deselected my email but the phone number was greyed out, it hasn't activated again so I don't think it has worked.

  • How do I display an extension to a phone number

Many of the numbers that I call since switching jobs have extensions.  Can they be added to the phone number listing as shown when making a call?  Currently, I have been adding the 'notes' field to the contact lists when someone or a particular department needs to be accessed.  I find it confusing sometimes and would like it displayed even though it may not dial it.  Can it be displayed?

You should be able to add the extension to your contact by tapping Edit, then adding a pause at the end of the number (tap the +*# key on the keyboard to get the pause button), then add the extension and tap Done.

  • How do you enter recovery mode disc utility?

On a mac mini server, how do you enter recovery mode disc utility? Before you roll your eyes, the problem I am having is obviously using bluetooth keyboard, on rebooting, it puts the keyboard to sleep so pressing CMD R whilst rebooting doesn't seem to register. Is there any way of doing this using bluetooth keyboard or do I need to get a wired keyboard?

    Thanks, I couldn't tell because I don't have a Restore partition.

Sorry for the silly question. But how do you enter a Capital letter on ipod touch? I was entering my network password and first letter is a CAP and for the life of me I could not get it right
    Thanks

    Hi Anna,
This double tap thing had never worked for me. Surprise, there is a preference to enable it.
Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Caps Lock.
    Thanks for hint. Easy.

  • E90: How to enter a space into a phone number?

    Hi,
does anyone know if it's possible to enter a space into a phone number in the E90's Contacts manager? It is possible with my Nokia 9500, and I transferred my contacts from it to the E90, and spaces in phone numbers were preserved, but when I enter a new contact I can't find any way to enter a space! This is very frustrating, as I find it very useful to pad out numbers with spaces, for example to make it clearer which provider a mobile number has, or what city code a land line has, and it also makes it easier to read out numbers over the phone. I have the same problem with hypens, which are handy for separating extension numbers from the rest of the number. I see that there is an optional label "Extension (bus.)", but that's not much use if the extension is for the fax machine...

    Solved!

Thanks for your suggestions, and for bringing OVI to my attention, which I hadn't heard of before. However, all the suggestions require the use of another computer or service, whereas what I want is to be able to work with my communicator "stand alone" as far as possible, without having to rely on other systems, especially Windows systems! One of the features I most appreciate about the E90 is the USB interface, which means I can make backups without having to rely on software that only runs under Windows. In my case this means I can make backups to my Linux PC very quickly and easily, without needing to install any special software.

I don't know about the E90, but with the E61 and E71 you can:
    - add spaces from OVI and then update the mobile
    - add spaces in Outlook (or whatever PIM you use) and then update the mobile
    - import a text file (using PC suite) with spaces from your PC to your mobile
My guess is that all of the above would work with the E90. Let me know!

  • How can you find your ipod without your serial number or iclould

how can you find your ipod without a serial number or a iclould?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
    - iOS: How to find the serial number, IMEI, MEID, CDN, and ICCID number
Alos, the serial number will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.
