Forgive what may be a dumb question on my part, but you do have a person's name selected and highlighted, yes?
Assuming you do have a card entry selected and the Edit menu and button still aren't active, where are the contacts kept? Are these local, i.e. "on my Mac", or is this a server account and if so what type?

Are you connected to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server? If so you can delete one service book on your device, and this will allow you to sync your device through the wire.
To do this go to: Option> Advanced Options> Service Book. In here look for the Desktop [SYNC] service book. Press the menu key and choose delete.
Now you should be able to sync your device with Outlook. Once the sync is done go back to: Option> Advanced Options> Service Book. Press the menu key and choose undelete.

Itunes could not sync with yahoo address book because an internet connect

I have not been able to sync my yahoo mail with my iphone. I get the error message itunes couldn't syce with yahoo address book because an internet connection is not available. I am connected thru a routed - and never loose connection & am able to view websites when I get this message. I have synced with windows address book (not really sure where that comes from), but when I did that I lost a bunch of contacts that I put into my phone.

Address Book during editing is blank

Using Address Book on a MacBook Air with Lion. Every time I try to edit a Contact, the fields are empty. You can make an entry into a field, but you can't see it. You don't know if you misspelled it until you finish, and exit the Edit. Also, the fields run off the right edge of the Contact Page so you can't read all of it. There doesn't appear to be any way to modify this. The Address Book in Snow Leopard was much better - why even change it?

Address Book Not Editable

I've tried for a couple of days to figure this out. My Address Book App is not editable. when I open it, the bottom left page has two buttons: "Add Contact" and "Share."
All other images I've seen show a "Share" button and an "Edit" button. I have also had trouble synching my address book among three devices: my MacBook, iPad2, and iPhone 4 through MobileMe. My info is not shared automatically among devices.
Anyone have an idea or two? Thanks in advance.

Thunderbird can't send email to addresses in Address Book because of formatting error

My Thunderbird can't send email to an address picked from the Address Book. It gives the following error:
"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.1.1 <"name@telconame"@telco.com> Unknown recipient. Please check the message recipient "name@telconame"@telco.com and try again."
You can see that Thunderbird has garbled the name/address pair: "name@telconame"@telco.com" so that it's unworkable.
If I type the email address by hand, it sends the email OK. But it can't retrieve an address from the Address Book without garbling the name/address pair. Win 7, TBird Version 32.0; it's the same in SafeMode.
Any ideas?

Make two Address Book entries for him; one for each of his e-mail addresses. Make a new Address Book group and put both of his entries in it. When you send him an e-mail just type in the name of the group in the To: field.

If renaming addressbook.data.previous to addressbook.data hasn't brought back your contacts, get rid of addressbook.data (drag it way or delete it) and rename addressbook.data.beforesave to addressbook.data
The rename process works for some people and not for others; I suspect it has to do with how soon after the problem they have tried it.

I don't know of any way of recovering anything from the skindexinverted file, and anyway I suspect it is litterally an index, and does not hold the full data. Certainly on my machine it is only 1/20th of the size of the data file.

Synching Blackberry and Address Book which just works: impossible dream?

I've got a Blackberry 8200g which synchs well with my office Lotus Notes setup. I'd like to be able to synch the office contacts book (but not email) with my home Mac's Address Book, with synching of Calendar a bonus, but not crucial.
PocketMac Synchmanager kept bringing over only some information, and only in one direction (i.e. not onto the work computer), and seemed to forget some of the information it had brought over previously.
Missing Synch seems to require me to turn off wireless synchronisation every time I want to synch the mac with the blackberry.
Just wondered if it was feasible to find a piece of software that just works - these shouldn't be complex databases to try and mesh - without tweaks etc and without costing the earth.
Any ideas from wiser folks who've been down this road already?

My original iPhone has been unable to sync contacts to my yahoo account. This was not always the case, for many months all was well with syncing.

This solution did not work for me. I've also tried to delete the Yahoo! mail account on the phone, sync then add the same account back to the phone, sync again. I still get the internet connection error.
What has worked is syncing to my Outlook, then switching the sync menu back to Yahoo! and clicking 'sync' once more. Then Voila! I have synced my contacts to yahoo! online. **This works only once!** without removing the iphone from the dock, or closing iTunes I click 'sync' again and get the error message again.
I know many other Win XP users have this issue, I've read the posts, and noticed they get archived without resolution. Would Apple like to help? I'm considering buying a Macbook. +*hint hint *Wink *Wink+

Western Digital My book studio edition II, impossible to get 4TB working?

Sorry for post this here but i can get any idea of what is happening here.
I have a WD MyBook Studio Ed. II with two drives of 500gb. Today i upgraded it with
two disks of 2TB, but there is this problem:
In raid 0 (striping) i can see just one disk of 2.2 TB.
in raid 1 (mirror) i can see just one disk of 1.8 TB.
Shouldn't i see a 4TB (more or less) in the raid 0 mode? Because of this i'm not sure that
the external box is working properly in mirror 1 mode either and i don't trust it about putting my data back on it. Any idea? Thank you!

Ok, seems i didn't remember how many years ago i bought this MyBook box. I went to check for a firmware update, and there was one about 1 years old that solved my problem. So my MyBook firmware version was too old to handle a total of 4TB space.

HT2486 Editing contact photos in Address Book doesn't work

Whenever I try to edit a contact picture in Address Book, the edits don't hold. I might reframe or recrop the image, and then click "done." And everything seems to be fine, for two or three seconds. Then it simply snaps back and reverts to the way it was. Sometimes after it reverts, it also shifts upward in the square, leaving a large black space at the bottom of the frame.
Why is this happening and how can it be stopped?!

Quit Address Book and go into your Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete AddressBook-v22.abcddb. Open Address Book and it should recreate the index. See if that makes a difference.

Address Book no longer editable

I recently had to have my hard drive replaced. The Apple Authorized Service Center that did the job also restored my data, though there have been many problems with this. One of those problems is that my Address Book contents were lost. I was able to restore those from my Time Machine backup. However, for some reason my Address Book is now not editable. The Edit button is disabled.
I added myself as a read/write user to the permissions on all files related to the Address Book, which did not solve the problem (I assume I had permissions before I did this anyway, because my user profile is an Administrator, and Admin already had read/write).
I am serving in the Peace Corps and am still overseas, so I do not have access to my operating system disks; thus, I cannot just reinstall. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem?

I found and read the long thread at ADDRESS BOOK - NO EDIT. Should have posted this there. Anyway, just wanted to say, that I did choose "Apply to enclosed items" when I adding myself to permissions. Still uneditable. Then I selected my user name and chose Make "(me)" the owner.
That worked! So, no need to respond to this. Dead thread. Thanks anyway!

Mac OS 10.6.8. In address book I have tried to delete some groups (created when I created an account in mail which I then subsequently deleted). However in address book edit the delete button is greyed out.

I cannot delete groups in address book because the delete button is greyed out. I have deleted the original mail accounts which created the address book. I could just leave the groups there but the problem it creates is that address book tries to connect to the relevant server every time I open mail, then I get various error messages because it cannot connect. Thanks for any assistance.

I found this link for a similar problem someone had with a Lotus Notes account. I used it to resolve my issue with a different email account (basically followed the same steps, and then looked for the particular account I needed to delete)... hope it helps!
