HT2498 how do I get my photos from iPhoto to the sd card

I have a nikon S220 and I am trying to transfer photos from my mac to the sd card located in my camera. I don't have the sd location on my laptop or I would try it that way. My camera pops up in iPhoto but no where else. Please help!

You can't. iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.

This is our resident iPhoto guru, Terence Devlin's, advice:
You can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk or new Mac:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Please follow the below steps.
In the Finder, navigate to your iPhoto package file. By default, it's located in /Users/[user name]/Pictures, and it's called iPhoto Library.
Control-click the iPhoto Library file and choose Show Package Contents.
A Finder window opens that shows the contents of the package file. The Masters folder contains all of the photos that are in iPhoto.
Control-click the folder named Masters and choose Duplicate.
Drag the folder named "Masters copy" from the iPhoto Library Finder window to your Desktop and then you can import the pictures to Photoshop from the desktop.

Actually... you need to hold down the "option" key while starting up Photos... Then follow the steps to select the iPhoto library... You should copy the iPhoto library to the Pictures folder (from the iPhoto folder) and it will convert it and you'll be up and running in a short bit... If your library is large, it can take quite a while to convert and load... be patient.... real patient! but it does work! This method will leave both versions useable, and at some point you'll want to delete the iPhoto stuff (to save space on the hard drive, if nothing else..) I copied my working iPhotos library onto an external hard disk, then used the "App Delete Lite" app to make an archived zip file on the same external drive.... in case I ever need to go back to the iPhotos option... It worked great!

I was recently on a trip and took photos on my camera saved to my sd card. I wanted to put them on my macbook so i did using the inland all in one usb 3.0 card reader. My photos transferred successfully onto my laptop. I didnt know that i had to eject it from the computer so i just pulled it out. I put it back into my camera and there are no photos. So i plugged it back into the computer and and it showed that there were photos on it. I tried deleting all the photos from the file and re putting them on (the way that the internet is showing) and its not working. I dont know what to do next.

Your explanation of sequence of events, is hard to follow the way you wrote it here.
However you can use Export in iPhoto to see if that allows you to move images from
the iPhoto library in the computer to an SD card or other external drive/device, etc.
If you have been trying to erase the files on the SD card, from the Mac, and have done
so, then recovery of whatever was on the Card becomes more difficult due to over-writes.
The SD card in a reader, is disaffected the same way as an external hard drive, when
or if you unmount it improperly. It must be 'ejected' or dragged to trash from desktop
before removing the Card or external drive (unplugging a wire, or pulling card out.)
There is a free-ware image recovery application, a multiple system compatible one
that is not really easy to use; it involves what looks to be more command-line and
can work when the file structure in the drive or card has been damaged.
Read about the application from the main page, the download link is to get both
of the parts of this application from their server. Avoid clicking on links that may be
sponsored by a third-party, as they may contain adware, etc & not the application.

There is a way to get files from a drive or device, when the file system is damaged,
because this method looks for file types and can be customized to get others, too.
However it may be a little beyond the simple Mac OS X interface of regular users.
On rarer occasion, it may be possible to try & repair the Card or other Flash USB
drive by use of Disk Utility in the Mac OS X, but that may also fully erase it. An
SD card is usually formatted for the camera to use, so a computer's utility can
change that formatting so the camera can't see it without a reformat in camera.
So, by then anything you'd hope to recover would be lost...

Apple does not sell iPhoto any more at the App Store.
But you should be able to reinstall from the Purchased tab of the AppStore, if iPhoto is showing among your purchases. You may need to unhide your purchases. Also try the "Updates" tab at the App Store.

I just went through the situation of not finding iPhoto 9.6.1 in the App Store. Working with Applecare, the solution was to (a) delete the iPhoto app, (b) restart my iMac, (c) go to the App store and click on Purchases, and (d) reinstall iPhoto.
