if user can see it, it can be captured. Any tools for
    preventing capturing
    can be easily worked around.

  • New 3G S not being recognized by iTunes or image capture software

I was trying to download .mov files off of the iPhone when today, the computer does not seem to recognize the phone. It was authorized and seen by iTunes yesterday, but now, nothing.
Are there any settings on the phone that would make it not recognized? Or, any settings on the computer. All I have done since it was working yesterday, was to enter my voice mail code so I could get my voice mail. Hmm...
Should I just take it back to the at&t store?
    Ken

Got it. I ran through the Apple recommended steps, and the last one suggested restarting the computer. That did it. Strange though, My old phone was always instantly recognized by iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Ken

  • 10.6.8 update breaks image capture?

Image capture works fine until it gets half-way through its final scanning operation, then it quits. This problem began after I completed an Apple suggested 10.6.8 update. I see indications that others have experienced this, but can't find how the problem was overcome. Help?

Thanks. I'm on USB, have run disk permissions, tosed out and replaced Image Capture Permissions file, etc., etc., over an exhausting 5 day period. Since both my HP printer-scanner (HP Photosmart premium C309g) and flatbed (Canon Lide 35) are still able to deliver a scan using their own more complex internal scanning software rather than the preferred more easily used Image Capture software, and since the printing side of the HP machine prints without problems, I am inclined to basically agree with you. It appears that the HP and Canon drivers can't quite handle something in the Image Capture-related part of the 10.6.8 update, and I'm hoping that eventually HP and Canon will have new updates that can work with Image Capture.
I ran across an HP employee's suggestion on the internet last night. He was aware of the problem and identified a different driver that is supposed to repair the problem for wireless-connected versions of my Photosmart, but I don't know about USB connected versions. I may try to get back to him to ask about using that driver on USB based printers later, but have run out of exploration time at this point.

  • Image capture will not recognise my iPhone?

Image Capture on my iMac with Snow Leopard, does not recognise my iPhone when I attach it. I  have tried the same phone with a MacBook Pro without a problem. The Image Capture software is the same version on both computers. Can anyone help?

  • Anyone been able to get OS Image Capture to remote trigger Canon EOS DLSR?

    Hi
I am connecting my Canon EOS 50D DLSR to a MacBook using USB.
I am able to copy photos off the camera's memory card, however the built in OS X Image Capture software refuses to remote trigger the camera to take a picture.
I need to try get it working as being able to remote trigger the camera using the Image Capture software is a pre-requisite to using iStopMotion animation software which apparently uses the same Quicktime framework.
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

iStopMotion fails to trigger the camera. I have been in contact with the developers and they say that iStopMotion uses the same Apple Quicktime framework as the OS supplied Image Capture software (which does have a Take Picture menu option)
So essentially if I can resolve the issue and get the Apple OS Image Software to trigger the camera it is a good indication that the issue is resolved and the iStopMotion software will also work.
I am using the Image Capture software to test the issue as my free demo license to iStopMotion has now expired and obviously I don't want to buy the software unless I believe it will work.
Any Canon EOS 50D DLSR owners out there who can test their camera with the Mac OS Image Capture Take Picture option?

  • I have a G4050 scanjet compatibility with Image capture... no way to scan 35mm rolls...

my G4050 worked  "before" correctly to scan 35mm rolls, aso.  For months was not using such kind of scanning,     Recently after trying again such 35mm negs or transparency scans, NO WAY...
Image capture doesn't work  for such scan, probably because latest IOS updates  have changed the options.
HP years ago provided excellent software  for 35mm scanning with the 4050 but as Image capture is "now" indispensable to scan, but the incompatibility is evident.
    WHY ?
Are we forced to use another "pro" stuff  ( like Epson 800,  f.i.) to keep scanning  rolls ?
Is there a problem inside the PC, the Image  Capture software, or where is the solution  ?   any option  to use other software welcome...

Similar problem with a Photoscanner HPscanjet 4890 : all ok for doc's pdf pictures ... but no way to scan 35mm slides with the HP soft. The preview scan is OK, as well as the thumbnails of the16 scanned slides. As soon as I start to save those slides, I got a message that the scanner couldn't write the file.
When scanning multiple slides or 35mm strips the scanner needs to write a text file to organize the separation of all the individual pictures. I saw this under SnowLeopard:the scanner writes a number of small temporary files in the root directory. Apparently, on Yosemite this is not allowed ...
My work around (from last week) :
If you have a possibility to boot up on good ol' SnowLepoard -  you can just scan your slides or strips as usual.
What i did on Yosemite :
Start the scan, on the sidebar it will show a scan with all individual pictures on it, and below all the single pictures.
Now, delete all but one of these single pictures.
Then, on the multiple view, extend the last only selected picture all over all the others, the individual one now shows you the whole assembly !
Save it (its a single file with all on it, it can grow very large - mine was 1.5 GB)
Then do the separating job manually, in Gimp i selected and saved picture after picture in individual files. After 50 or so pictures that procedure goes very fast

  • Problem scanning with Image Capture

I have an Epson Photo NX110 all-in-one printer and scanner. I use the Image Capture software that comes with Snow Leopard to scan in photos using my printer's scanner. I have scanned lots of old photos using this set up and it has worked fine. About half an hour ago, I scanned in three photos and it worked fine. These are all 35mm 4 inch by 6 inch color photos.
I am now trying to scan in another old photo, but the height and width of the photo keep being set to zero by Image Capture. As a result, the scanned TIFF file ends up being a blank image. I am using the default settings and the same work flow I have used before, but this particular photo of a relative holding her baby won't seem to scan in properly, even though it looks fine in the overview on the screen. I am using the default 300 dpi setting. This is just a photo of a woman sitting at her dining room table holding her baby in a fairly well lighted room. There is nothing out of the ordinary about this photo as far as its lighting or composition and the photo is in great condition. I tried moving the photo to a different location on the scanner surface, but the result was the same.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem, please let me know.

I spend my summers scanning old photographs and letters, and this happens to me, too. Sometimes a photo refuses to scan properly. No idea why.
I don't know what made me think to try this, or why it works, but if the photo is less than 8 1/2 x 11, set the photo on the glass as usual, then lay a piece of paper on top of the photo on the glass. Printed paper seems to work better, so I usually use a draft page from a newsletter, or some such. Place this paper printed-side down, so the scanner will be copying the printed stuff. Scan as usual, and when it offers you the chance to crop the image, crop out the paper, keeping only the photo.
Like I said, I don't know why this works, but in most cases, it does. I hope this helps! I know very well how aggravating it is to not be able to scan a perfectly ordinary photograph or letter.

  • Image Capture and Samsung All-in-One SCX4825FN Preview Delay

I am trying to scan using a Samsung SCX4825FN all-in-one printer, scanner and fax machine. It is installed using an ethernet cable via my internal network. Two Macs see and scan with it without a problem. The third used to, but since I tried installing Samsung's own scan software (just to see if there were any OCR capability in it, which there wasn't), each time I try to open up the flatbed scanning, it takes hours (literally) to do the preview scan, and in the meantime, the computer is almost unusable. The printer (scanner) appears to correctly do the preview scan, then do a more detailed scan (at very high resolution?), which takes it ages, and it uses this to build the preview scan.
Other computers haven't changed, so I assume it is the since Mac that needs fixing. It also doesn't happen with the multi-sheet feeder scan on any of the computers, so it is only the flat-bed scan that causes the problem.
I have tried fixing permissions, removing the Samsung software completely (I then couldn't see the scanner at all) then reinstalling the minimal amount, deleting permissions for Image Capture and for the Samsung Scanning software, changing preferences within the Samsung software, but all to no avail. It still takes a couple of hours to complete the initial preview scan on the one computer but not the others. Has anyone got any other ideas?
I would like to delete the Samsung software off the problem Mac and then copy over the required drivers from another computer to let it scan without a problem using the standard Snow Leopard install, but I am not sure which files to copy over. I am worried that the (not very good) Samsung installation software is taking off more files than it is supposed to when I remove it, but I am not sure what it is supposed to leave on there, or perhaps it is leaving too much on there.
The nice installation software from Samsung forces a restart each time you try and do anything, as well as insisting that no other software is running while it is trying to make changes, so I am already a little unhappy about what kind of changes it is trying to make since most Apple software is not that crazy...

Interestingly here is what I received from Brother. (Note that scanning using the Control Center works fine.):
    Dear Brother Customer,
Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
Is your machine able to scan using the Brother ControlCenter software?
If you are able to scan with the ControlCenter, the drivers are
    installed and working properly.
Your issue is with Apple's Image Capture software and should be referred
    to them for support.
When you open the Apple software, you will need to click DEVICES in the
Menu Bar, then select the disclosure triangle next to TWAIN devices to
    reveal the Brother TWAIN device.
Select the Brother TWAIN and click OK.
You should now be able to scan with Apple's Image Capture application.
For any additional assistance with the Apple application, we suggest you
    contact Apple for assistance.
We hope this information will be useful to you. If we can be of further
    assistance, please let us know.

  • Image Capture and Brother all in one printer...help!

    Hello,
I have a Brother all-in-one printer MFC-420CN. I just upgraded from a PC to a Mac. Almost everything works perfectly...I can print (wirelessly or not), send faxes, and scan using Brother's own Control Center utility. However, I wanted to use the printer also with Image Capture. I downloaded the scanner driver from the Brother site, however when I start image capture I get the message "No Image Capture device connected". If I go to Devices => Browse Devices, I can actually see the printer driver shown as TWAIN Data Sources/Brother Twain, however it doesn't show as being connected. If I click on the "Use Twain UI" button, it brings up a Brother Twain window, but if I click Scan nothing happens. Does anyone know why the mac can see the driver but thinks it's disconnected? Also, under "kind" there's a swirly icon, but I don't know what it means (sorry, Apple newbie).
    Thanks!
    GC

  • Image Capture and/or Canon MF4350d -- How do I set up Auto Document Feeder?

I can't find a setting for it within Image Capture, and I was told by a Canon customer service agent that she had a similar customer with a similar problem who had to get some updated Image Capture software from Apple to fix the problem. If that's true, I looked for the Image Capture software but couldn't find it, and if not, I'd love to know how to make the ADF work for me. The printer says it can do it, but I can't get my computer to ask the right way...
thanks in advance for your help!

Hello there and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I am not aware of a new version of Image Capture, apart from the one that is included with 10.6 but this is not available for 10.5.
I don't have an MF4300 series to test (I have the MF4680 and 4270) so I cannot check the settings you should see with the Canon ScanGear application for your MF4350. However, I think the issue is that Image Capture does not open the Scan Gear viewer and therefore you do not get the option of where to scan from. So instead of using Image Capture to scan, try using Preview and selecting the MF4350 via the File > Import Image menu.

  • After upgrading to Lion Image Capture does not work, even though it is intel software.  Gives error 9931.  What gives?

Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Image capture broken with LiDE 25

We just received out new 27" i7 iMac. I am having problems getting it to play nice with a CanoScan LiDE 25 USB scanner. This is a cheap scanner, but my wife uses it constantly with Evernote.
Canon has a 10.6 compatible driver on their website which I have installed.
Image capture can see the LiDE 25, but the scans are ignoring the dpi and size settings in image capture, all the scans are extremely small and low resolution totally unusable.
The driver is fine as the scanner works great with the demo version of Vuescan, but I really don't want to spend $40 on scanning software when it should work in image scan, also it breaks my wife's work flow of scanning directly in to Evernote or Photoshop from Image Capture.
How can I make Image Capture work correctly? I can't find any settings or preferences for it.

Thank you for the response, knowing you have it working under 10.6 really helps.
I have been doing some more testing this morning.
It is responding to size and dpi settings, only it is not scanning to those settings. It is scanning to 1/4 size of the requested size in the settings:
    For example:
    I ask for a 150dpi 8 inch x 8 inch scan... I get a 150 dpi 2" x 2" scan.
    I ask for a 300 dpi 10 inch x 10 inch scan... I get a 300 dpi 2.5" x 2.5" scan.
The solution is to scan at 4x the dpi you require, then alter the image size in photoshop without resampling. This is of course a work-round, but we can proceed now until an official fix comes from Apple.
I'm pretty sure the error is in Image Capture, as 3rd part software (Vuescan demo) works just fine and as expected. I'm not going to buy a $40 piece of scanning software to run a $40 scanner!

If Image Capture doesn't work you could try the paid for app VueScan ( www.hamrick.com ). You can try it for free in demo mode to see if it works before purchase.

  • Isight image capture disappeared after software update

I did a software update this week. After that, Image Capture.app is missing from my Applications and I can't use iSight camera!
Anyone have any answers. Not complex please; I don't want to/shouldn't have to (naughty Apple!) trawl through a ton of app software trying to get iSight back. There is no reason for the app to disappear except software update. I haven't changed anything else.

    (1) Restart your Mac.   If your trouble persists, apply the
10.6.8 Combo Client Update using the following method:
     • Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.
     • Then download and apply http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
     • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
that completes the Combo update.  Then see if the problem is fixed.
    (2) If the trouble continues, post back and tell us WHICH software you updated last week.
We will offer other suggestions based on the details in your response.
