How do I get a new version of mail? that it says I must have

This happened because if Mail.app was moved from /Applications or placed in a sub-folder there, the update (Security Update 2012-004) couldn't find it and fails for writing new files to Mail. This update updates Mail 4.5 to 4.6, consequently the message that 4.5 is incompatible, since it's looking at the now "old" 4.5 version. since you didn’t receive its original grey installation DVDs when you purchased it, you’ll need to contact Apple directly to purchase a replacement pair. (The grey installation discs aren’t available in the Apple stores.) Some Mid 2009 models originally came with 10.5.7 (Leopard), and some originally came with 10.6.0 or 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). If yours had 10.5.7 installed, then you’ll probably receive a 10.5.7 set of grey discs from Apple. If you’d like to upgrade its OS to anything newer, then you’d also need to purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD — but you should wait to see what Apple sends you, since if they send you a 10.6.0 or 10.6.2 set, you wouldn’t need to purchase the white Snow Leopard disc.

Just installed OS X updates and can no longer boot into Bootcamp

Just installed the latest updates for OS X Yosemite and now I can't boot to my Bootcamp partition. It doesn't show up in Startup Disks and it's not an option when booting while holding Option. The partition still shows up in Disk Utility but it no longer says BOOTCAMP, it now says disk04s. Is this fixable? I just wrote some data to that partition last night that I really don't want to lose and it hasn't yet been backed up. Thank you.

Leave your Testdisk display and start a new Terminal Window.
If you see any error messages during the following steps, please stop and post back here with the error message. The following steps have values from your Testdisk output (and you can verify) in Steps 7 and 8.
Rebuild GPT4 using start/end offsets

Just upgraded to CS 4 and duplex printing no longer works

I'm trying to print a 2-sided document to an HP Laserjet 9500 from InDesign, and the duplexing no longer works. The printer still duplexes from my other Mac running CS2, so I'm wondering if something happened when I installed the upgrade.

I cannot get the dueplexing feature to work on our HP P2055 with InDesign CS3 & CS4 for the MAC.
HP P2055 Printer Driver from Snow Leopard.
From InDesign CS3 or CS4 (MAC) I send a two page Landscape document to duplex print. Only 8.5" from the left edge on both sides print. It's like it is only printing through a portrait mask.
Now if I make the document Portrait, then it prints fine.
The booklet printing is ever worse.
If I print with PCL instead of Postscript (Generic or the HP Postscript) the dueplexing works, but it prints the oppisite side flipped.
From a Windows Vista machine running CS2 everything works great.
On the MAC I can create a PDF from InDesign, open the PDF and duplex print the the same file fine.
On the MAC MS Word duplexes fine.
Anyone have insight on this InDesign/Printer issue?

Try a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. If it still isn't working, then restore the phone.

Just installed new Mac update and my typing is wrong

It only does this on firefox, I'm using chrome now to post here but..
I installed the update and now when I try to type in firefox, the letters are different. I type apple.com and it brings up my previous visits to apple.com but it shows up as "ettpi2gsq" in my address bar. Anyone else having this issue? I tried to update with firefox but there was none. I'm having the same problem here. Had my logicboard replaced a couple of weeks ago and it was working honey sweet. Temps were in the 28 ~ 31 range. After the firmware this morning, my temps are at 67 ~69. Obvously there is a way of controlling the temps with the firmware, I hope apple fixes this quickly before I have another logic board fry on me.

It is possible to have earlier data in a tab if the latest tab had target="_top" that means the back key will not work, but if your right-click on the back/forward you see a context menu. As far as I know the only difference between 3.6 and 4.0 ws that the drop-down arrow was dropped but like before you can still right-click.
There are some extensions that mess with the Back/Forward buttons.
There is a difference between gray and '''black''' on the buttons, '''black''' means there is history in that direction.

Software Update and Disk Utility no longer work (Leopard)

Hello. After upgrading yesterday from 10.4.11 to 10.5.0 then updating to 10.5.1 I find that repair / verify permissions no longer works (it just hangs after starting).
And the same with Software Update, it starts the check then just hangs. Grateful for any ideas!
Overall I am finding Leopard much slower in operation than Tiger. Peter

Create a new admin account with Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts and see if the issue duplicates itself logging into that account. That will say if the issue systemwide, or just localized to the a bad user cache file. If the issue persists in the new user, you can try looking in the System -> Library and Library -> Cache, Applications Support, and ByHost folders for cache files relating to Software Update and Disk Utility. Once you find them, carefully extract them to comparable folders on your desktop you create (i.e. name one systemlibrarycache) so you know where you go them from, and restart your Mac. If the issues go away after two restarts then it is just one set of bad cache files. If the issues return after two restarts, you have something generating bad cache files which needs a more system wide repair tool.

Cannot download updates, and I can no longer work with RAW files without them. Help!

I used to be able to get Bridge to read RAW files, but I cannot any longer. I think I need an updated plug-in, but when I try to go to help-updates and download them, the message I get for all three (Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 update, Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Photoshop CS5, and Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Update) is this: "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." I have tried shutting down and restarting the computer a few times over the course of several days, and have even tried updating my mac software. Ok, Adobe. I'm having a huge problem with your customer service here. You list no email or phone to contact you, yet I have spent hundreds of dollars on a product I can't use unless I can get an answer to this question, which appears to be a problem with your system. Just installed CS5 Design Premium and Adobe Air doesn't work

I just blew over $2000.00 on this software and installed it on my new i7 MacBook Pro. So far, all the software seems to be working, but when I click on help, I get a message that says the following:
"This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance."
What this means is all of the help documentation for all of my new software can't be accessed. There are a lot of negative and unproductive things I could say right now, but I would like to get help, so here is a list of what I did...
1: I tried uninstalling Air and reinstalling it - FAIL
2: I tried reinstalling CS5 - FAIL
3: I called Tech Support - They told me to do the above as someone was yelling behind them and making them nervous.
If anyone out there can tell me how to fix this I would be grateful.
I have a 17 inch MacBook Pro with an i7 processor and 8 GIG of RAM and a 500 GIG 7200 RPM Hard Drive.
