I am using MS Entourage and would like to be able to open multiple windows within that program. For example, I would like to have both my calendar and address book opened at the same time in different windows. I have looked all over for a way to do this, but I have not had any luck. Any ideas? How can I open multiple instances of the same version of FF?

I understand that if I have multiple profiles, I can run different versions of FF side-by-side (like 3.6 and 4).
However, what I'm interested in is how I can launch multiple instances of the same version of FF (4, for instance) using the same profile. In other words, I want to be able to double-click the desktop icon for FF, and open a new instance, and keep doing that as many times as I want. I don't want to have a different icon and profile for each instance (too much overhead to keep a dozen+ profiles in sync).
I can always launch one FF window instance, and then keep clicking ctrl+N to launch new instances from inside it, which they all share the same profile (as I want). So, basically, I want to be able to do that from my desktop icon, rather than by having to do it with the keyboard ctrl+N sequence.

But I don't understand why whatever Firefox does when you click ctrl+N can't also be done (with some sort of command-line switch) from a desktop icon?
In other words, I clearly can create many FF instances (even if they are the same FF.exe process) by doing ctrl+n a bunch of times. Why then can't this behavior be done from a desktop icon with some parameters?
As far as I know, FF is the only browser that doesn't directly allow multiple browser instances from desktop icons. IE, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc... all let me launch a new instance (even if they are all single process and the instances are shared within the process).

Can you open multiple windows of the same Keynote presentation?

Like you can in PPT, where you can go Window > New Window, and see more than one slide at once of the same presentation in the large view. If there is any way to view more than one slide at time, in the large view, please let me know.

You may need to purchase Apple's MPEG-2 Playback Component (it's included with FCP and DVD-SP). Also try opening the file with VLC Player or MPEG Streamclip.

How do you connect multiple devices to the mac?

I have a mac desktop and a laptop and two external hard drives. I would like to connect them so that I can use the laptop and desktop simultaneously and save to either of the hard drives. All of what you want to is very possible and done by many people every day. You connect over your network, your home or busines LAN (Local Area Network) to share files, folders, drives and connect both externals to either one Mac or one external to each Mac then when you want to save a file to the other Mac, or to an external drive connect to the other Mac, or to another drive connected to the same Mac you Broswe for that other Mac, drive, folder over the network or on the same Mac. You do all that from a Finder window or the Save As dialog box that opens when you select Save As in a program you are using.

How can I open multiple instances of the same folder and web browser in different desktops in Lion?

I've selected "none" for association but it doesn't work. In other words, I have a Dropbox folder on my desktop. I'd like to be able to open that same folder using the same shortcut on different Lion desktops. However, whenever I try to use the same shortcut on a different desktop, it switches to the one where it's already open. Same problem with web browsers; if I try to just click on a web browser to create a new window, it will take me back to the other desktop.
I didn't have this problem before I had to replace my hard drive and update everything again. I am aware of the "restart Finder" option as well as associating programs with individual desktops. All of the things in question are currently selected as "none."

I just set Safari's option to None. That is I right clicked on the dock, selected options, and chose none. Also, in Mission Control's tab of System Preferences I clicked Off When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for that application. That let me open a new Safari window no matter what desktop I was in. But I had to do both. Just setting the desktop option to none didn't seem to do it. Finder seems to work okay with just the none option set.

Let's say I want to read some of the Mother Jones and Alternet articles I'd linked to from e-mails over the past in two months. I open my Firefox history. I do a search of the history libary to get a list of all the relevant locations. Then I use Control+click to select the few articles I want to read. I'd think Ctrl+O would open all those selected, but it doesn't. There must be a more efficient way than what I'm doing now, which is to open a new tab in the browser window, go to history, double click one line, wait for the page to load; open a new tab, go back to the history search results, click on a new location, wait as it loads, repeat.

Just received and setup up my new Mac Mini (Dual-Core i7, 8GB memory, 750GB disk) with OS Lion. Still in newbie phase. I have a set of 3-way Boston Acoustic speakers (w/ subwoofer) from an old Gateway computer. Is there any way/adapter available to connect them to the Mac Mini in order to improve music played within iTunes. Appreciate your responses.

Suppose I have a main window with a list of users. If I click on any one user, the "chat window" should open with the argument as that "user".
If i click on another, a similar "chat window" should open but with a different user.
I can't have so many stages because I don't know how many users are there.

If so, Grab won't work. Take Word out of Full Screen or use the shortcut keys:
cmd-shift-3 to copy full screen
Cmd-shift-4 to make a selection, or press spacebar to choose a window.

It may not be an ideal solution for you. But this may be the only option you have if your device is running the Windows RT operating system. You can install Adobe Reader XI (desktop app) if your device is running the Windows 8 operating system.

Open/run Multiple Windows of the same VI

Hi!
In my current project I would like to have the user open multiple windows of the same VI. I've made a re-entrant VI:
This is, currently, a very simple VI that just has a numeric control, a loop, and a stop button. I then have a VI that calls the re-entrant VI. I'd like it so that each time the user presses the "Call Re-Entrant VI" button, a new window of this VI is spawned and run.
The first time the button is pressed, the re-entrant VI opens and runs fine. The title of the VI in the title bar is "Re-Entrant.vi:1 (clone)" (as expected). When I try to launch another instance I get this error:

Here we go. The Close Reference VI was causing my re-entrant VI to stop execution. What do you think of this:
This appears to work. I'd probably want to get the path of my referenced re-entrant VI outside of my loop (since this will remain constant throughout the programs execution). My guess is the Auto Dispose Ref feature will mean that as these windows are closed by my user, their garbage will be collected properly....?
