HT2512 how do I "share"folders on a network? or even setup a networks in windows

In windows I coulf right click a folder and share via other coms in home network. How to I do this on mac.
Many thanks

Open System Preferences (lit's ike Control Panel in Windows)-> Shraring pane, put a checkmark in 'File Sharing' and then in the right of the sharing pane click on + button and then add any folder you want.
System Preferences is where you find a lot of settings that affect the whole OS X system, just like the windows Control Panel.

How can I share my Internet from my iPhone to Airport express network?

YES you can! - Gotta love those "you can't" answers from people who haven't even tried. ;o)
Just have your Airport Express "Join" your iPhone. It will share your Internet connection through its Ethernet port. I currently have an AppleTV connected via Ethernet to the Airport Express. With this setup I have wireless Ethernet AND wired LAN connection. I can even AirPlay to the AppleTV and have Internet at the same time. Haven't tried a switch/hub but see no reason why it wouldn't work. This proves to be very useful to create a wired network with Internet from a cellular device without Ethernet.

  • How do I share folders to other people using iCloud Drive?

I would like to replace DropBox. How do I share a link to folders in iCloud Drive to other people? Does it have this capability?

I have been trying to find an answer for this too, as a dropbox user for many years I was hoping that iCloud drive could be a replacement, but it looks like it falls way way short in comparison to dropbox for sharing folders with family or work project folders with peer workers, as it basically does not have the scope to do it!!!
iCloud drive looks to only be for personal usage.
AND THATS A BAD APPLE !

  • How do i share folders

i have 2 computer linked with a router. the first computer, computer A is a desktop, it is running windows xp SP2 media center edition. and the second one, computer b is a laptop, it is windows xp SP2 home edition.
i want to share a folder between the two, how would i accomplish this

That's file and printer sharing... run the network set-up wizard (can be found at control panel, network connections) on both computers and you should be good to go... just make sure all computers firewalls are either set to disabled or it is set to allow sharing...

  • How do I share folders between 2 MacBook Pro?

I'm trying to connect two MacBook Pro by creating a share folder. Don't know how. I try airdrop but this is only to send files from one to another

Do you want to share the files locally (on the same network) or in the cloud?
Your best option for cloud sharing is probablly a third party app like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box or Copy. These all have an OSX app that will keep a deisgnated folder/s synced across devices (if you install and set up the app on each device).

  • How can i share folders at Mac mini late 2009 with Apple Tv 3?

I'm using Mac mini 2009 and I can't share any folder with Apple tv 3...anyone managed to get a way to do so, so far?

I have a WLAN at home conneting Mac mini (late 2009), PS3 slim and xbox 360 in the living room and I would love to share whats on the Mac mini with AT3 in the guest room upstairs, physically it wont be possible to control both screens at the same times. The files I have are on external HD connected via firewire + USB to Mac mini and they are a mix of avi, mp4, mpeg etc. I'm talking about 3 TB of movies and series (its still legal here in Dubai to download ;-)). starting to convert such amount of files its not an option. AirParrot is a good option when I have media stored on my MacBook pro and would like to play it no AT3 but I used Beamer it works great for such function.
    any ideas folks ?

  • How can I share folders between 2 User Accounts?

I have 2 accounts. One for work and one for home. The home account is the main one as I keep my work one (DJ use) very limited concerning activities running. I still need to access some folders that are on the home account (pics, music..etc.) but I see a little red negative sign (protected). I know its a simple little thing im over looking but cannot think of it.
Also, when I use fast user switching is the other account still running and using resources?
    Thanks!

Log in from the home account, select the folders you're trying to access in the Finder, and change all three of the permission settings to Read & Write; if both accounts are admin accounts, you can optionally change the first two to Read & Write and the group to admin. A new group can be created in the NetInfo Manager in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder if you want another set of accounts to access the folder; to do this, duplicate an existing group, pick an unique name for the new group, and change its gid to 400 or another unique number in the 400-499 range.
The processes and applications opened under another user account continue to run when Fast User Switching is used to switch out of it.

  • How do i share folders on devices

I have a folder on my macbook and was wondering how i can see that folder on my iMac and/or iPhone/ipad?

You can't do that. You need to post them on a website where others can access them. You can export the folder to your computre to post them.

  • How to securely share Folders with different People inside one Network

    Hey there,
I'm working with different people on different projects. All are connected to the same network. Most users have 10.6, some 10.5. I'm providing them with Files. My idea is to setup Folders inside my public folder for each of them to pick their files up. But it is important that only the appropriate person has access to his Folder. Is there a way to set this up easy?

Click on the Folder in question. Go the word File in the top right-hand corner. Click on More Info. Then at the bottom you can set the access for individual users, i.e. read and write access, no access, read access, etc. That way you can limit if people can even get to those folders and who can. Also you want to be sure you hit the little cog symbol when your done managing the permissions and hit "Apply to Enclosed folders" that way everything in that folder is guarenteed to have those permission limitations.

  • How to access Files / Folders on Mac from XP Laptop Using wireless network?

Hello, I have successfully set up my iMac and XP laptop to access the web via a wireless router. However I am wondering if there is a way for me to wirelessly connect to my files and folders on the Mac from the XP laptop? I am going nuts trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can find lots of useful information on iFelix's page "Sharing files between a Windows XP PC and a Mac running OS 10.4.x".
If the folder you want to share isn't viaible, you can use SharePoints to make any folder available to share.

  • How do I share files between OS Macs on non-apple wireless network?

    Hello:
We have two iBook G4s, one with 10.4.4, and the other with 10.3.x. When they are connected via hard cable ethernet, they see each other and can share files. But when connected via wireless, they cannot see each other. What do we do?
    Thanks!

If they're on the same wireless network, there is no inherent difference between this and a wired network.
If the sharing isn't working then there's something else amiss. Can you describe the network setup in more detail so that someone might be able to spot the issue.

  • How do I share itunes purchases with my daughter?

I have purchased some songs on itunes for my daughter who is 11 so doesn't have her own itunes store account.  How can I share them with her?  We use the same computer with Windows 7, with different user logins and both have our own itunes library.  Home sharing doesn't seem to work, maybe because we are on the same computer? Any suggestions?

If you make sure that your iTunes account is authorised on her version of iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer) then you should be able to copy those songs from your windows logon on to her logon and then add them to her iTunes library (File > Add File To Library, or Add Folder To Library) - so you probably need to have separate copeis of the songs

  • How to alow non-default domain users to set share folders.

From Messanger Express, users who are in non-default domains cannot set any share folders, and only get an error message "You do not have permission for setting permission". However, Users in default domain can do it without any problem in same server[iMs5.2].
Is there any specific permission to allow non-default domain users to do it ?
If yes, how to give this permission to these users ?
    Thanks & regards,
    Takuto

In deed it is fix in the GA.Another way to set the alias table is to do it in the Admin client. If you add a connexion to a user there is a new 6.5 button "set alias" that allow you to set the default alias table for this specific user. But, it does not exit on a user group level.

  • How to share folders in remote pcs using labview

how to share folders remotely using labview?
If there is any connection problem, how to read the file continuosly till there is a signal and get the data?

You could just use Copy File.  It would be a lot simpler than reading the file and appending to your second file every second.
