  • HT2513 ical issues...cannot access it

I changed my gmail password, I am able to get my gmail. but not able to access my calendar now?? this is what I get...
The server responded with an error., The server did not recognize your user name or password for account “[email protected].” Make sure you enter them correctly,
I tried to go to preferrence but everything is grayed out. I really do not understand what Im suppose to do how to correct the issue. please help
    thank you

    Hello,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • HT2513 iCal, "edit event" doesn't show the dates

    Hi everyone,
My problem is with iCal for Lion. When I try to edit an event, I can not see the date in the from-to section. I can change month, year and time, but not the date! So it is impossible to add long-time events, unless I use the quick add button. Even in that case still it is not possible to edit. You can see the problem in the attached picture.
Do you have any idea how to fix this? There is nothing in the settings, as far as I can see. And my general calender settings seem normal.

I have the exact same issue. Is there any other threads that have the solution?

  • Ical issues

I use google calendar which works great with my blackberry.
Ok here's my deal. I want to be able to have a work friend of mine subscibe to my google calendar in his ical but only see free/busy info. So I set gcal to only show free/busy. He subscribes but sees nothing. So its a problem.
The solution I had was this. Use gsync to sync my gcal with with my ical. Then publish ical to icalx. When I do this I unselect 'publish titles'. Then my friend subscribed to icalx and he sees blank boxes. So great it worked
Now syncing between ical and gcal has started being very glitchy. Double posts, not syncing etc...
So I need a new solution. I discovered google added caldav support. Did that and it works great. Its like a subscibed calendar that is read and write. No more glitchy syncing.
But I can't publish that to icalx. So I'm trying to see if I can, in ical, copy all of the events from my gcal-caldav calendar to another calendar that I can publish to icalx. I tried automator but I can't seem to make it work. I also found the folder where leopard stores all the .ics events and imported them into a new calendar but that takes a long time.
So in other words it would make my life easier If I could "sync" a subscibed calendar with a publishable calendar.
    Any ideas.
And all this to make my life easier. Gosh!!
    Thanks

  • 10.5.3 update causes iCal issue on ONE account

So far, 10.5.3 update has been relatively painless for me. However, on one of the accounts on one of my Macs, iCal is causing a problem. iCal will not open, and indicates that the account does not have the permission to move the calendar cache in Calendars. Instruction is given to check the permissions on the folder Calendars. I have done so, and those permissions look ok, and they look the same as the permissions for the folder Calendars in all other accounts on all other machines (which are able to use iCal on their local data quite fine). The permissions are: owner: R/W, staff: Read only, everyone: Read only. The exact error message is: '"Calendar Cache" could not be moved because you do not have appropriate access privileges for "Calendars". To view or change access privileges, select the item in Finder and choose File > Get Info"'. Help please. My wife (her Calendar) is ready to kill me.

Well, I do not know about your specific problem, but I have learned from these forums about OS updates that I should always:
1.) Note from Software Update that there is a new OS version update, but do NOT download or install from Software Update.
2.) Download the COMBO version of the update from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
3.) Using Disk Utility, run Repair Permissions and Verify Disk (and Repair Disk if needed) before the OS upgrade.
4.) Run the OS version upgrade from the downloaded Combo version.
    5.) Restart the computer
6.) Using Disk Utility again, run Repair Permissions and Verify Disk (and Repair Disk if needed) before the OS upgrade.
Since you have a Permissions issue on the iCal file. the above routine might solve your problem.
BTW, I have solved problems using that routine even after running an OS version update from Software Update. Running the Combo update on top of the Software Update (incremental) version seems to fix some things that the incremental might have missed; but the key is running Repair Permissions and Disk Repair (if needed) before and after running the Combo update.
    Hope this helps. (jk)

  • Trackpad/Sleep/iCal Issue

I have the "intermittent trackpad issue" when iCal is running and in front, and my powerbooks goes to sleep. When I wake it up (sometimes), I have super-poor control of the pointer. Resetting it ("placing your entire palm directly onto the whole trackpad for 3 to 4 seconds, and then remove your hand from the trackpad in one smooth motion.") works to resolve the problem, but dosen't fix it.

If the problem is only at one location, I would think that there is some sort of interference (cordless phones, etc).

  • IPhone and iCal issues

    Hello!
I can't seem to open up iCal invitations using .Mac mail on my iPhone. It comes in as a .ics but when I double click nothing happens.
On the other hand when I am in my Mac mail on my laptop, I can double click invitations and it will open iCal.
    Am I missing something?

There's a whole "encyclopedia" in these forums about this problem. Suggest you search here for something like "iCal event duplication" and you should find a good bit of helpful information.
That said, I had similar problems with my iPhone 3G and then my iPhone 4, and it basically came down to MobileMe issues. My best advice would be to look first to see whether or not the calendar on your MBP agrees with the one on MobileMe - I'm betting you'll find issues there for which the phone is just a display medium. It will probably be necessary for you to reset your sync data and clean out either the iCal data or the data in MM Calendar.

  • New iCal issues on iPad

after updating to new iCal, most birthdays show up as duplicates. Genius Bar associate was not able to resolve issue and to wait up

I recommend spending some time on a live chat with mobile me support. There are so many factors that affect the calendars, it gets quite complicated. I had a similar issue, but I can't tell you what one thing fixed it up.
Checking settings on my Mac mini and Air, backing up and deleting contacts on the Mac, turning off and on the birthday calendar checkmark in MobileMe, and deleting contacts from iPhone and iPad restoring from MobileMe, is just naming a few of the things we did.
    Regards.

  • Auto-generated birthdays [Address Book - iCal] issues with Mac OS X 10.4.4

Substantial changes were made to iCal, the Address Book and to Sync Services with the release of the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update. Clearly, not all of the results were intended.
The automatically generated Birthdays calendar has presented at least two issues in my configuration:
Just before installing the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update, the birthdays appeared in iCal as expected but, immediately afterward, none appeared at all. They were still embedded in my Address Book records, and the action of cutting and pasting just one of them in an Address Book record resulted in the immediate propogation of all of them again in iCal. Great. Obviously, there is now a system-level problem with the data interchange between the Address Book and iCal. This phenomena has only surfaced since the application of the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update.
This evening, I noticed that birthdays were no longer displayed in iCal following a synchronization, though the calendar remained intact . Stranger yet, they had all been removed from the matching Address Book records which generate these entries: every one of them! I believe that a Sync Services issue caused their removal, and it is for that reason alone that they no longer appeared in iCal.
Resetting the contact records alone using .Mac as the source did no good. Not only are they not visible on the .Mac address book pages, birthdays data is also apparently not retrievable. Hmm - passed through, but not stored. Not good.
I was able to revert to a 3-day old, almost identical record set, and all of the 'restored' records with birthdays instantly had a matching iCal entry in the Birthdays calendar.
All I can say is: back up. And, back up often. [I had used the Back up Address Book… option under the File menu, so restoring them was a rapid and painless process.]
I wonder when we will see a maintenance update to Sync Services, the Address Book and iCal?

My wife's mini had a similar issue. She upgraded to 10.4.10 and her sound stopped working. She would also get the login screen freezes. Where her computer is located, turning off Airport is not an option, and the sound issue is very frustrating. I helped her restore her entire computer from a 10.4.9 backup she had made just a couple days before, and while the lockup problems are gone, the headphone jack still will not output sound. Just two pops when you plug the speakers in, and that's it. I've tried resetting the PMU with no luck. I hope Apple fixes whatever it is they screwed up, and soon. I won't be applying 10.4.10 to any of my other machines.

  • Lion Server iCal Issue -- CoreDAVHTTPStatusErrorDomain Code=405

I have Lion Server set up with iCal Server enabled/running.  I've set up a iCal client and it frequently gets this error when syncing:
The server responded with an error.
http://zmac.home/principals/__uids__/54FCAB02-50E8-45DB-8437-CD011076B055/ is not a location that supports this request.
When I look at the console on the server, this is the error that shows up there:

Does anyone know what this might indicate and how to resolve it?  zmac.home does resolve properly to the IP address of the Lion Server.
    Thanks in advance.

I have quite the same issue. Sometimes it works to sync, sometimes (and definitely to often) it doesn't.
I try to sync Lion iCal Clients with a Snow Leopard Server.
And the error I get on the client is:
    Account refresh failed with error: Error Domain=CoreDAVErrorDomain Code=3 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (CoreDAVErrorDomain error 3.)" UserInfo=0x8fe11d67bad0 {AccountName=Full Username, CalDAVErrFromRefresh=YES}

  • Ical issues with snow leopard

we are having issues with syncing ical since we downloaded snow leopard.  we've checked our ical acct. preferences. all in.  still not syncing. we have generated a new ical "on my mac" which doesn't seem to sync with cal.me.com.  any suggestions?

    Harvey,
The "On My Mac" calendars will not sync, and in my experience are no longer required. They can be safely deleted after making backup copies.

  • Time Machine / iCal issues on Lion

    Hi all,
please forgive me, if this has been discussed before. Searching the forums didn't reveal anything, though.
Since upgrading to Lion (10.7.1 as of yesterday, and no improvement) I have two issues bugging me on my MacBook Pro (13", late 2010):
when away from my home net, Time Machine keeps bugging me that it can not find my Time Capsule. This is annoying since this message keeps coming every 5 minutes or so and the window is automatically in the foreground and has the focus. Does anyone know how to tell Time Machine that it is perfectly normal for the Time Capsule to be unavailable when on the road and that there's no reason to get upset about this? When in my home net, Time Machine is happy, although it only backs up, when I hook up the power supply.
iCal which I use extensively and which is synced via MobileMe ends up syncing forever every now and then (have found no correlation for this bug to appear - sometimes twice daily, sometimes only after a few days of usage). I have spent hours both with MobileMe chat support as well as with Apple's telephone support - no improvement. I've followed all sorts of tips on the net as well (deleting accounts, adding them again, etc). Deleting and adding my MobileMe account to iCal usually fixes the situation for a while. Strangely: busycal works like a charm with the same data (I presume). Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Not that I dislike busycal, but I was resonably happy with iCal before lion - so I am a little hesitant to spend money on fixing something that shouldn't be broken in the first place
any help or comment greatly appreciated
    cheers
    Torsten

If you are going to install Mavericks on your existing Mac then you don't need to use Time Machine.  It's good to have a Time Machine backup but when you install Mavericks all of your personal files/documents are left intact and are unaffected.  Only the operating system files and updated applications are modified on your system.
You may want to consider keeping your Lion backup and setting up the Mavericks backup on a new external hard drive.

  • ICal issue with entering email addresses for invitees

    Hi all,
I am using 10.6.2 and I've got a very annoying issue with iCal (started on 10.5 still, and survived an upgrade to 10.6 and even a fresh reinstall, although I did restore from TM).
Anyway, what happens is that when I am entering email addresses for invitees in the events, it changes the first letter of the email address to "a". IOW, say I want to type in "[email protected]", it will read "[email protected]", then I have to go and delete the "a" and type in the correct letter. It does this all the time, with the macbook keyboard or the external keyboard. I tried deleting the .plist but it didn't help.
Any idea how I can fix it?

At what stage does it change? What happens if you start the email with a capital? What happens if you select the address from the pop-up? What happens if you drag the address across from Address Book?

  • ICal issue after completing installation of Lepard?

    Hi folks,
I have done a lot searching on this discussion forum, but not a whole a lot about iCal. After successfully installing the leopard, the only issue is that the iCal didn't migrate from Tiger. I used A&I to install the Leopard. Does anyone have the same problem? I tried different ways to import the old date, it just "fails". I even brought it to Genius guy to help me. They spend almost 2 hours on it, but ended up nothing. They couldn't figure out what happened. Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot.

i had the same problem. here's what i did:
sync .mac to a computer running tiger.
did a backup iCal from file menu.
transferred that file to the leopard computer.
did a restore iCal from file menu and selected the new backup file.
it populated my iCal and everything was great.
now i have a new problem. i'll submit that one in minute and see if anyone can help

  • ICal issues after iOS 8 upgrade

I just recently upgraded my wife's iPhone 5s with iOS 8.  The upgrade went great with the exception of the iCal shows duplicates of all events.  I checked to make sure the "calendars" were only showing the calendar on iCloud.  I also checked the settings/mail to ensure nothing was duplicated.  I backed up and restored the iPhone and it didn't solve the problem.  Any ideas?

I was able to recover my voice memos, though the original titles are gone.
I opened my Voice Memos app like everyone else and I saw each memo quickly deleting and acting glitchy. I then connected my iPhone to my macbook so I could attempt to restore the backup I had made before the ios8 update. It said it couldn't be done because there wasn't enough room. However, when I opened my memos app again, the voice recordings were there! I can't verify if it's all of them but I'm grateful I was able to recover some.
I use this app to record lyrics on the go and I'd really like Apple to step up and fix this.
