  • ICal recurring events problem

Since updating to 10.8.2 I've run into a problem with my repeating events in iCal. I can duplicate the problem every time I create a repeating event on my MacBook Pro but not on any other Mac on 10.8.2 which leads me to believe it is a preference problem.
If I delete the preferences will all my events disappear from my calender? Are there other hidden preferences that I should try to delete? Or do I need to delete all my events and start from scratch creating them again? (I've got about 45 events every month.)
This is the problem I'm having:
I create an event repeating every week or month, etc. and I have it set to remind me a week before it's due. When the event is done I'll enter a note in the notes field which then brings up a window asking me if I want to change this event ONLY or change ALL the events. I choose ONLY this event. When I check the same event for next week or month, etc. the note that was entered in the last event shows up and shows up in all future events.

  • ICal recurring events function broken

    Hi folks,
I use my Mac for business, so having iCal broken is a serious problem. I hope someone can help.
The problem has crept up on me, so I can't pinpoint when I started to have issues. It seems to be progressive in some way.
I've tried to delete the program and also the support files I find in Library, and reinstall, but the new install managed to find the old info, somehow.
I'm on OS 10.6.8. I've got reasons to stick with it and don't want to upgrade right now. I'm running iCal 4.0.4. I've done a Software Update. I also sync an iPod running iOS 5.1.1 (also up to date for the device).
My problem is that I have been having items drop out of iCal, randomly so I have a hard time seeing any pattern to the problem. The items have seemed mostly to do with recurring events, so let's assume that's been consistent. In trying to understand the problem, I've deleted iCal and its Library files. I'm currently having some kind of problem where the System Disk is being rejected (won't mount), so I can't reload iCal that way, though I believe I did do that some time back trying to fix the problem. So I have re-installed iCal via thumb drive off a second IMac running OS10.6.8. It "works" seemingly fine, but now the recurring events function is completely broken. I've tried to set up several recurring events to test it, recurring daily; neither one has made it past the first instance (nothing can be made to "recur").
Any insights at all? Thanks very much,
    Eric

I think the problem lies in icalx.com. It doesn't seem the server there gets a lot of real administrative attention. I'm not complaining at all! He's nice enough to offer this free to almost 100,000 calendars. But--it does make the recurring events problem a bit annoying.
I switched over to sharing my calendars via chandlerproject.org. You can share your calendars via webdav just like icalx and you can play around with some of the CalDAV features for free. (I'm not sure how long it will be free--it seems like an awfully nice service for no money!)

  • Outlook 2010 subscribed internet calendar recurring event problem -- missing recurring events

    Hi --
In Office Outlook 2010, I'm subscribed to my wife's google calendar via subscribed internet calendars.  A few weeks ago, I noticed that recurring events weren't appearing.  I deleted the subscription, and resubscribed, with no luck.  (All
her other appointments and events were there, but not the recurring ones - including new scheduled events she had just added.)
At the same time, I did the same thing in Office Outlook 2013, (on another computer), and all the recurring events were there.
So the problem isn't with the feed, but somewhere in MS Office Outlook 2010.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please make sure the latest patches and service packs are installed for your Outlook 2010. Since the issue doesn’t happen in Outlook 2013 on another computer, the Internet Calendar URL should be OK for opening.
Please refer to the following article to create a new Outlook profile and restart Outlook in Safe mode to have a try:
    https://support.office.com/en-za/article/I-can-t-start-Microsoft-Outlook-2010-or-2013-or-receive-the-error-%E2%80%9CCannot-start-Microsoft-Office-Outlook-Cannot-open-the-Outlook-Window%E2%80%9D-d1f69da6-b333-4650-97bf-4d77bd7abb85
If the issue doesn’t happen in safe mode, the issue may be caused by any third-party add-ins, please disable then enable the add-ins in Outlook One by One to confirm the issue cause.

  • Delete one ical recurring event - automator

    Hi,
I am wanting to make a small Automator workflow that will allow me to delete only certain events from within a recurring event chain. I use iCal for my school timetable (spread over two separate calendars - separate from all of my other events)  and have it recurring every week. I would like this workflow to delete the timetable from the holiday periods but delete only those events that lie within the holidays.
i have created a workflow that does what I want initially, but it interrupts the recurring event and therefore deletes all of my timetable in the two specified calendars after the holiday period that I specify. I use three different steps, shown by the images below (in order):
For example, if in step 2, I put in the date "after 2/7" and "before 5/7", I want it to delete all events on the two calendars from step one between 2/7 and 5/7. Instead, this is deleting all events on those two calendars after 2/7 because the recurring event is deleted.
How can I get this to do what I want?
Is there a way to get Automator to use the "Delete only this event" option that appears in a prompt if deleting a recurring event from directly within iCal?
    Cheers.

Something you might try is, Right click on the event in your calendar and select "get info".  In the get info screen set the "repeat" to none.  End that screen and go back to the calendar and right click select "cut".  Should be gone for good.

  • ICloud 2.0 PC & Outlook Custom Recurring Events Problem

I write this post after a couple weeks and many hours of trying to fully sync my calendar in Outlook 2010 with iCloud. I'm using a Windows 7 PC and the latest iCloud 2.0 control panel. I have encountered multiple issues and quirks.
For example, I discovered that when merging an existing Outlook primary calendar that contains recurring events to the Cloud, major problems occur. The control panel "time remaining" for Outloook Setup steadily increases past 30 minutes and the progress bar stalls. It then abruptly stops after about 10 minutes, reporting that Outlook is successfully setup. But only a portion of my 2600 events have been copied to the Cloud. Other times, the control panel simply crashes, citing a CalDav error.
I then changed my strategy by merging an Outlook calendar containing only single occurring events. That works fine. Then I recreated the recurring events on icloud.com and they synced with Outlook fine...with the notable exception of custom recurring events.
I've been able to work through all the bugs until this one.You can easily illustrate this for yourself by isolating the flaw. Create a new calendar in the Cloud so that it appears in Outlook (or vice versa). Then create just a single custom recurring event in the Cloud, like MLK's birthday. This example recurs every third Monday in January of each year.
However, when this event syncs to Outlook, it does not carry over the custom pattern. It instead recurs on the same day each year. In my example, this was January 21 because that happened to be the date of MLK's birthday in 2008, the year that I tried creating it in. So Outlook showed MLK's birthday occurring on a Saturday (January 21) in 2012.
If you instead create the same event in Outlook (i.e. third Monday of each January), it syncs to the Cloud with the proper custom recurring pattern. That's great, except if you every need to "Sign Out" in your iCloud control panel and sign back in, the custom recurring pattern will not be maintained when the Cloud events are transferred back into Outlook.
I believe this singular flaw is behind a LOT of people's problems. I've read through countless posts of people becoming frustrated with the inability to correctly sync iCloud and Outlook. Very often, people are specific about recurring events being involved. But most everyone doesn't know WHY they're having problems.
Like many of you, I have spent many hours experimenting and diagnosing. I have been unable to resolve this fundamental problem, which will always prevent me from being able to rely on iCloud for my calendar needs. Recurring events, including those with custom patterns, are essential.
Anyone have insight or a fix to this?

Thanks mcauble, in fact it's woks. I spent 2 hours and 80.-€ withe the Microsoft helpdesk concerning my outgoing message on Outlook that are blocked when the icloud add-in is installed.
Back to the iCloud control panel 1.1 solved the problem.
    Window 7, MS Office 2010
    Thanks to you!
(And none congratulation to the Apple developper that are no tested the 2.0 version before! )

  • HT2513 iCal 6.0 problems:  events showing twice

    Hello,
Events starting on sundays and finishing on mondays show twice with same starting time. Once on sundays and once on mondays.  This is not the case for the others days of the week...
This was not happening on previous versions neither on iCloud calendar...
If somebody can help to prevent this, I would apreciate!

    Hi Shabeer,
the first thing is that you are running on a very very low RAM.
For ECC 6.0 with dual stack SAP System to run you should have atleast 4 GB of RAM.
For your Dispatcher issue kindly check the status of your Oracle database and the connection from SAP To Database.
You can check the oracle status using brtools utility.

  • HT2513 iCal, "edit event" doesn't show the dates

    Hi everyone,
My problem is with iCal for Lion. When I try to edit an event, I can not see the date in the from-to section. I can change month, year and time, but not the date! So it is impossible to add long-time events, unless I use the quick add button. Even in that case still it is not possible to edit. You can see the problem in the attached picture.
Do you have any idea how to fix this? There is nothing in the settings, as far as I can see. And my general calender settings seem normal.

I have the exact same issue. Is there any other threads that have the solution?

  • ICal Repeat Event Problem

So i'm having a major problem with iCal in Lion.
I setup an event that runs an Applescript at 13:00 and set it to repeat every day, it worked perfectly the first day but after that it stopped working....now when it turns 13:00 nothing runs.
I've tried both running a script and making it an App and opening that but still nothing works.
Is this a iCal but that everyone is having or is it just me?
    Thank you

I tried a few different repeats and they all worked here. One suggestion try a repeat on an event that is not an all day event. Does that make a difference?
Also try a different calendar, again any change? Finally you should make a new user, log in as that user and try it. This way you can try to isolate it to see if it is something in your environment or if it is system wide.

  • ICal Recurring Invite Problem

I received an invitation to an event and replied. Now, every time I close and open up my calendar again, I get the same invitation and must respond again. I have tried deleting the event without notifying and that does not work. What can I do to get rid of this invitation once and for all so I don't have to keep replying to it?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Sounds like something is stuck in iCal's memory.
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test (You may have to delete the event again at this point).
    Hope that helps.

  • Recurring events off by 60 minutes after daylight saving time switch

I searched but didn't find this exact issue anywhere. Following this past weekend's switch to Daylight Saving Time (DST), iCal recurring events have been shifted one hour later. It is a problem that I encountered with my own web calendaring application, wherein the offset between UTC and a given time zone changes with the coming and going of DST. I am curious why Apple has never instituted a fix for this, especially considering that the fix is so simple. All that must be done is detect whether the original datetime is in DST or not. If it is not, and the given recurrence is, then you must subtract 60 minutes from the recurrence's datetime. Similarly, if the originating datetime is in DST, and the given recurrence is not, then you must add 60 minutes to the recurrence's datetime.

I have the same problem but much worse. Only 5 of my 18 recurring weekly events have shifted, so I didn't realize that anything was off until I missed one of my classes today. This seems weird....

  • HT2513 Problem Creating Recurring Events in iCal.

    Hello.
I'm having some issues creating a recurring event in one of my iCoud Calendars on iCal.
If I create a new event then go in and change the recurrance, time, and name it stays in my iCal for a few seconds then defaults back to a basic appointment with no name, time, or recurence. I then need to go back into the event and reprogram everything. It will then save the changes.
Its a little annoying as I need to reprogram the even and save it twice.
Has anyone had this problems, and could offer assistance?
    Thank You!

The same thing happened to me! I'm in another discussion thread about this and it seems many people have the same problem and it all started about a week ago

  • ICal 3.x .ics import - problem with recurring events and non-unique UIDs

Upgraded to Leopard over the holiday break. Under Tiger's iCal (v2.x), .ics files exported from other calendar programs (Outlook via iAppoint/O2M in this case) and imported into iCal behaved 'normally'. However, in iCal 3.x in Leopard, for recurring appointments in the exported calendar, only the last appointment in the series shows up in iCal (although some meetings show up for about 0.25 seconds during the calendar import, then immediately disappear! This post by MalcolmS provided the critical clue - it seems that for recurring events, the .ics file has all of the events in the series with the same UID. Previous versions of iCal didn't care, but v3 apparently does - and deletes all earlier versions of the event, leaving only the last one with that UID. I confirmed that is the case by opening the .ics file in Word, which clearly showed all of the recurring events, and all the events in a series (e.g. a weekly meeting for the year) had the same UID. After the import to iCal, only the last one is in the calendar (in the above example, the one meeting of the series occurring in the last week of December). Manually editing the UIDs of a recurring series in the .ics file (to make them actually unique) allows them to all show up in iCal after import.
Since many of the events in my Outlook calendar are accepted invites for recurring appointments, re-creating them as individual calendar events in Outlook is not a viable option. The frequency of changes to my calendar means I usually export it once per day (or twice); thus, manually editing the .ics files is also not a viable option.
Any suggestions on workarounds for this problem? Alternatively, any other suggestions for getting the calendar data from Outlook into iCal?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Problems with detached recurring events for Subscribers to iCal calendar

I have a calendar in iCal that I publish and host from MobileMe.
When recurring events are altered and become detached, subscribers end up with 2 events, the original event AND the now detached/edited event.
How can I make sure they get the correct data?
I also sync this calendar to my iPhone via MobileMe and I DON'T get this problem.

Thanks mate, this was really helpful

  • HT2513 Can the iCal app for iPad offer custom recurring events?

Is it possible to change settings in the iCal app for iPad to allow for the recurring events to be more than just daily, weekly, monthly? I have several events that take place on 2nd Fridays for example.

No. What you see is what you get in the Calendar app with regard to the settings for recurring events. There are other calendar apps available in the App Store and maybe one of those will better suit your needs.
You can use Google to search for more or look in the App Store and do a search, but here is a start.
