importing ical data stuck- how do I stop it?

Greetings,
1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard.  You will see "Library" in the menu.
4. Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists:
1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
3. Launch iCal and test.
Hope that helps.

  • ICal stuck displaying 'importing iCal data'.  I can not shut down.

iCal is stuck displaying 'importing iCal data' with a candy cane display to the side.  I can not close iCal nor shut down.  How do I determine where it is seeking data?  How do I get it stopped?

    adboger,
    Force quit iCal. >Force Quit>iCal.
Then remove the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Drag the .plist file to your desktop.. Also go to your HD/Users/yourusernam/Library/Calendars Folder and remove any files with "Cache" as a part of the file name. Log out/in, or restart and check iCal/Calendar for functionality.
To find the correct Library Folder for Preferences/Calendar, select Finder>Go and depress the Option key.

  • ICal getting stuck at "Importing iCal Data..." when trying to import .ics file

I recently discovered I had 2 iCloud accounts.  Since I only want to use one account I decided to export my entire iCal to a .ics file to my desktop, delete my old iCloud account, and then import the .ics file into my new iCloud account.  This is all being done on the same computer (iMac).  But when I try to import the file it immediately displays "Importing iCal data..." but just stays there forever.  I left it for about an hour today and it never imported.  This file is only 206 bytes.  Can anyone help me?

After long investigation I made the assumption that my original .ICS file was somehow corrupted.  Fortunately I remembered that all my calendar data was still on my other iCloud account so I was able to recover the data from there, make a 2nd .ICS file, and repeat this process to transfer my calendar info.  Hopefully you are able to do the same.

  • Is there a way to import iCal data into a numbers spreadsheet?

Is there a way to import iCal data into a numbers spreadsheet?

If you want to import lots of calendar events into Numbers, the general way to proceed would be to:
export in CSV (character-separated values) from iCal (Calendar)
    import the CSV into Numbers.
    1. can be accomplished via AppleScript (perhaps in an Automator workflow) or, perhaps more convenient, a dedicated exporter app such as Export Calendars Pro or competitors.
    2. Importing into Numbers is usually as easy as File > Open and choose the CSV file.

  • Importing iCal dates into Address book

I have a calendar in iCal that stored severyone's brithday and I would like now to import these dates into my address book.  Is there any way?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You may be able do this with an Applescript. However there is not enough information supplied to know.
How are ther events formatted in iCal? Do they contain the full name of the person? Do they say how old they are? Are the people already in Address Book, or would they all be new cards?
    Best wishes

  • Can't import ical dates into iphoto calendar

    Hi all,
I'm trying to make an iphoto calendar for a friend and I'm running into a frustrating problelm. My friend emailed me an ical birthday calendar which he would like to have included in the iphoto calendar. I imported the ical calendar into my own ical as a new calendar. I have created my calendar in iphoto but I cannot import these dates into it. When I go to settings and click the calendar tab I am given the option of which ical calendars I would like to import to my calendar. I see two, one is my own normal calendar and the other is the birthday calendar sent to me by my friend. I check the birthday calendar and then click ok and ical appears to be importing the dates but when I look at my calendar the dates have not imported. If I try importing my normal calendar I have no problem. What's going on here??? Please help I am getting really frustrated.

There are many video formats. iPhoto can't read all of them; in fact, it can't read most of them. Here's something that can:
VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Mac OS X
On the other hand, the videos are just files. You can copy them anywhere you want in the Finder.

  • When I try to delete account, it says the account may be syncing data. How do I stop it?

I need to delete the account from my iPad, but when I try to delete it, it says "Couldn't delete account. The account may be syncing data. Please try again". How do I stop this and delete the account? This is on iCloud on an iPad 2.

It seems their server is down. I've had problems trying to update apps on iTunes and iPhone.

  • Adobe CEF Helper is sending data. How can I stop this?

After starting my mac Adobe CC starts sending data. It is a lot of data (7 GB a day) and makes working very slow. How can I stop this. I closed Adobe CEF Helper, but it starts again after some moments. Only closing CC ends the process. Why wants Adobe my datas? It s a terrible process for working and makes using internet very slooooooow.

There are two different Flash Player Plugins for Windows (3 if you count Google Chrome, but it's built in and functions independently of the other two).
The one for Firefox won't affect IE.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Download and run both of those. That should have you up to date.

  • IPhoto Imported All JPGs. How do I stop it?

Recently, I was uploading pictures from my Canon camera onto iPhoto. All of a sudden, the computer decided it wanted to import all .jpgs on my computer into iPhoto. It also imported screen shots of recent websites I have visited. How do I stop this from happening, and how do I reverse what the computer has done without losing any of my pictures?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If it's still going on Force Quit out of iPhoto. There's no way to reverse the import. Do you have a backup copy of the library from just before you started the import? If so bring it back as your working library and start the import over again.
It sounds like somehow the Mac's hard drive icon was dragged onto the iPhoto icon.

  • How to import iCal data

from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to Calendar in Mountain Lion 10.8.5?

    Well, almost.
What I had to do was to save the iCal archive to the older MBP's (Snow Leopard — Mac OS X 10.6.8) hard drive, then open Calendar on the newer MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion — 10.8.5) and import the archive from there.
I actually prefer the appearance of iCal over Calendar, but guess that's the way it goes.

  • How to import ical data from tiger to leopard

Hi, I want to transfer all my ical calendar info from my tiger imac to my new macbook with leopard. What file do I copy and transfer to my macbook? Can I just backup database on my tiger ical and imort that into leopard? In leopard, it says import and ical file, a vCal file or entourage. My backup database file says .icbu. Help appreciated.

If you have a .icbu file which was created with iCal 2.0.X, copy that file to your Leopard System and use (Control + Click) to "Show Package Contents."
Look for folders named something like 4A1DC586-14EC-4D42-B659-BEBA31968385.calendar in the Sources Folder of the iCal Backup file. There should be as many of these folders as you had calendars on the Leopard system, but they will have different alpha numeric names than the example which I just gave you.
Open these oddly named folders and you will find the corestorage.ics files containing your calendars.
Use iCal to import the corestorage files by using the iCal>File>Import... menu command to navigate to and import the appropriate corestorage.ics file for each of your calendars.
