HT2513 why doesn't data entered in ical appear on iCloud

I've just moved from a 4 year old Mac Book to an Air. I'm going to enjoy the cloud features, and am learning some of the nuances. What I noticed this morning is that when I enter data on ical on the computer, it does not appear to be updating the cloud calendar where the reverse is happening perfectly. Am I wrong to assume this should happen?
Does anyone have a tried and true resource that they use for icloud as I would like to share with some soon to be newbies in the house.

Check which calendar (in iCal/Calendar) you are entering the events on, there may be 2, On My Mac and iCloud, you should be using iCloud.

First see if Finder Preferences has the box checked for... show CD, DVD, iPods checked.
Sometimes dirty DVDs won't read, mine is ery particular about smudges and scratches.
Try a SMC Reset:
SMC RESET

Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

It doesnt along with the Ipad 4th gen. I wouldnt worry about it, most likely it will when the new Itunes comes out.

Why is the date on the iCal icon the 17th July!?

I was amusing a friend recently showing him how the date on the iCal icon changes to the current date when you open it up and he asked an interesting question ... why does the icon show the date as the 17th July when the application is not open?
I had never really thought about it before so decided to search the internet for a reasonable answer ... the following are a list if interesting events which occured on the 17th July (none of which however seem likely to be the reason for the icons date):
1995 - The Nasdaq stock index closes above the 1000 mark for the first time.
1989 - First flight of the B2 Stealth Bomber.
1987 - The Dow Jones Industrial Average closes above the 2500 mark for the first time.
1976 - Viking 1 lands on Mars.

I then came across this page on the Apple site ... http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2002/jul/17ical.html ... which gives the obvious answer that the reason for the icons date is simply that the program was first introduced at MacWorld on the 17th July 2002! Simple!

I import a MLB schedule into my iphone calendar. Why doesn't it show up on my PC icloud website?

I rectnely downloaded the Phillies schedule off their site. Went to the "calendars" tab, imported, etc. It is up and working on my iphone 4s. No problem there. But why doesn't it show up on my icloud? I log in, all names, contacts, etc are there, but no Phillies schedule appears. If everything from your phone syncs with the cloud, why isn't it working. Why doesn't mail I have sent from a MacBook show u in the Sent folder of my iCloud account on my iPhone ? There isn't anything in the Sent folder on the phone. Aren't they supposed to sync?

Does your MacBook have "Store sent messages on the server" set in your iCloud account? It should, if you want the iPhone to be able to see messages sent from the MacBook.

Why doesn't the enter key respond when saving a web page?

go to save a web page, complete and when i press the enter key it doesn't work. i have to move the mouse pointer to the save button and click it that way but it slower this way. why won't it let me just push the enter button on my keyboard to save?

The '''<u>S</u>ave''' button has focus in the Save As window for me, and hitting either Enter or S will work.
But if I change the File <u>n</u>ame or select a different file Type I have to use the mouse to save it; the focus is away from the Save button.

Why doesn't a photo in iphoto5 appear in the iphoto library window?

I dragged a picture I received via email into iphoto. There I was able to correct the red eye. But, when I tried to upload it into a web page, it did not appear in the library folder. It appears in the photo library, but not in the folder. Why? I had to drag it on the desktop and then upload.

Why doesn't a newly created playlist appear in the playlist section of 7.02

I create a new playlist "File>New Playlist" and add songs from my library to it. The "Burn Disk" icon does not appear.
In fact, the playlist itself only appears in Devices but not in the playlist section, why?

Thanks for the idea. I checked and found that the machine serving up the database does in fact have XP SP2 installed. I disabled the firewall completely, and that solved the problem. (At first, I just unchecked the LAN connection under the Advanced Tab of the Firewall applet, but that did not do the job, I had to turn it off completely from the General Tab.)

Why doesn't my cd/dvd drive appear in my device list?

Hi, im very new here so hi to everyone. Ive recently noticed that my imac 27 doesnt read dvds anymore, it spind away making the right noises put then spits it out, along with that i notice the actual drive isnt in my device list anymore?? this has my head in bits.

Why do all previously purcased songs not appear in icloud

I have 863 previously purchased songs but only 212 show in icloud on my ipad2 and iphone

Thanks for both suggestions.
The Reset seems to have fixed the problem, new contact created in the Phone app now appear also in the Contacts app (and also in Contacts on OSX), just as expected.
The downside: all ten or so phone numbers previously added (and previously visible in the phone app in Recents) have now disappeared, inconvenient, but I can live with that.

How are your settings in iCal preferences set?
iCal-->Preferences-->Advanced-->Delete events __ days after they have passed.

I'm helping an office mate to get her new iphone, etc to work in concert. We've updated her desktop to Lion. Trying to get everything to synch. What a royal pain. I've been using Google Calendar and Contacts and Email for a year and a half with no problem synching everything across my android phone and multiple computers and ipads without a problem. It's platform independant. Everything can be web based. What the heck was Apple thinking.
Can anyone point me to a document that explains how this is supposed to work...?

What does that have to do with the problem you're having with your office mates phone? I've been using iCloud and it's predecessor MobileMe for even longer than that without a problem... so what?
