You can use iChat to Video to PCs that are using the AIM for PC app or have the Trillian App with the Pro Add-on (which costs).
As you list OS 10.7.4 you may find you can find a copy of the Messages Beta (technically it was withdrawn before the release date for Mountain Lion that has the Full version)
Although this Users Tip was written a while ago it may also pay to read it

Can you use ichat to talk to friends on facebook?

i guess my subject says it all, but anyway: can i use ichat to talk to friends who are online on facebook? i would like to be able to not have to be on facebook to talk to friends. thanks!
also--> would this involve having to download certain software? or is it possible to do it without extra stuff?

The option has been given to developers by facebook to make it work through jabber. However, as of yet nothing has materialised. Keep your eyes open for it... this may be the year!

The only method at the moment to Contact MSN Buddies is using the Jabber Method and a Jabber Transport.
MSN for Mac version 8 can be downloaded as a free Standalone from Mactopia (the Microsoft Mac Pages) and can do Video chats.

I have an ipod touch already linked to computer, i want to add another using same email details. i have set up new ipod and it has excatly same music etc as 1st ipod how can i use 1 account but 2 differnt ipods? many thanks.

It's a snap. Each device has its own name. If iTunes does not assign unique names for the two iPods, change one of the names yourself. You can see both my iPad and my iPod simultaneously on my iTunes because I sync wirelessly.
Simply configure the sync characteristics for each device separately. The iTunes software will know the one with which it's communicating.

How can I turn off an alert for each txt when message app is open?

I think this is a simple problem but I can't find a solution! I want to receive an alert (either vibration or sound, depending on the position of the silence switch) when I get a new txt. This is how I am set up now. However, once I open the messages app and am engaged in a discussion, I no longer want to receive an alert for each message. So basically: If message app is open, no alert... otherwise, alert! Is this possible?

Latest update on 'Network Lost' Message. I have tried all the suggestions, ie, Setting my carrier to Automatic and resetting my Network settings but nothing works. I had a long conversation with someone at Apple this morning and he said there was no way to stop this from happening. Gutted! My husband and I went through the settings on both our iPhones earlier and discovered that he has a different software version to mine, He hasn't updated his and he never gets the message. Now I am wondering if it's possible to go back to an earlier version and if so how? Can anyone tell me please?

How can you use iChat or Jabber in a small office

We currently use "Quick Conference" which allows you to see who is logged in at startup, immediately send them a message without doing anything else and it just "works". You don't have to drag them somewhere or invite them to anything.
I don't see any way to use Jabber or iChat the same way.
Looks to me like I have to start up Jabber every day and "Invite" EVERY employee every day? With only 21 employees, that's still onerous.
Also, I've read about using Safari as a bookmark for ChatRooms but that requires naming a Chat. I see nowhere to do that. I can "start" a new chat and invite others to join, but that's a LONG way to go each and every day for the same people.
I just want a simple, internal communication system that people don't have to do anything with but select who they want to send amessage to and hit it....
Any more than that and I'll stay with Quick Conference.
Am I looking at the wrong product??

Both the AIM buddy window (Buudy list) and Jabber can make 'calls' to the outside world.
The Main Buudy List (AIM) can only chat to people via the AIM servers.
Jabber can work just on your local LAN if you set up a Jabber sever. It can also connect to other Jabber users through a Public server. More info here

If you are still on Lion did you install the Messages Beta ?
If you have updated to Mountain Lion (and not updated your specs here) then you will have Messages.
Messages replaces iChat and does everything iChat did plus has the iMessages account that uses an Apple ID to have conversations with iPhones and iPads (as well as Messages and iChat apps on other computers)

my problem is that AIM for mac doesnt have webcam/video support yet...so I'm wondering does iChat have AIM syncing?? And one of my friends has a webcam and I would like her to able to use it but with the purchase of my new mac I cant use the AIM Video feature like I used to with my PC....do I have to just wait till they upgrade AIM for Mac?

I was able to get on my AIM screename in iChat but the only problem was it would not connect to my AIM friend with her camera....although I do not have a camera I feel I should still be able to see hers? Isnt that right? How can I use the same Apple ID account in two different App Stores?

I am from Greece and I use my Apple-ID account to download iPhone Apps from the Greek App Store. However I live in Germany and some iPhone applications I want are available only through the German App Store. When I try to download one of them I got the message that my acount cannot be used with the German App Store. Is there any way to be able to have on my phone applications form both the German and the Greek App store at the same time using or not the same Apple ID account? Unfortunately you won't be able to. iCloud requires iOS 5 or higher and the 3G cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1.
