HT2523 i accidentally deleted textedit on my mac, how can i reinstall it

please help me

Some 10.6 Apple programs can be installed via the "bundled programs" installer pkg on your 10.6 disks,
However some, like PhotoBooth, can only be reinstalled with a #8 Reinstall Just OS X method as it has ties to OS X or requires a root level install or something.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
You might be able to extract TextEdit from the 10.6 disks using the Pacifist from CharlesSoft, if it falls into the latter catagory and the bundled installer doesn't place it back.
One thing to make sure, use Software Update fully after either method, as your bundled programs are replaced with older copies that won't work with your files sometimes, have security issues.

I have accidently delete TextEdit in my computer and cleared trash, how can I reinstall it?

I'd like to start by clearing up a lot of the nonsense that has been said here…
TextEdit is not available to download on the App Store & Mac OS 10.5 cannot access that anyway!
Tex-edit-plus is not the same app and Softonic have a bad reputation as seventy one mentioned, avoid it at all costs.
Text Wrangler – whilst it is a nice 'plain text editor' for editing 'code' files it will not open & save Word documents correctly, I'm not sure it handles RTF either? It is not the same as TextEdit.
The options I see you having are…
Recover it from a backup (let me guess - you don't have any?).
Extract it from the original OS installation media, Pacifist can help do this, but you will need to dig into packages to find it.
Install OS X onto a spare disk & copy that over.
Reinstall OS X over the top of your current install, causing the original applications to be re-written
It has been so long since I installed 10.5 I cannot remember if there was a 'reinstall OS X' option so it is possible that number 4 is NOT AN OPTION. If you attempt this & don't have a full bootable backup you risk losing everything.
    Option 2 is the safest,
Insert your Install DVD, try opening the following location (the 10.5 install DVD has an 'Essentials.pkg' that appears to contain TextEdit). This is hidden on the disk inside the following folders…
    Mac OS Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg
Open that .pkg in Pacifist. It will create the layout that mirrors an installation, dig into 'Contents of Essentials.pkg' /Applications and you should find TextEdit.app. Try extracting that to a new location.
My terms may be incorrect since I used a newer version of Pacifist to check, but the general principle should be the same.
If you don't have the install DVD/ CD, frankly all hope is lost, go and buy one from Amazon or Ebay.
Now would also be a good time to learn how important backups are. Make one & keep it up to date, Carbon Copy Cloner will do that for you on 10.5.

  • I accidentally deleted iPhoto from my mac. how can i get my photos back?

I deleted my iphoto aplication and tried to search in in the trash but it isnt coming up. Is there a way I can redownload it and still get all my photos back?

If you just deleted the iPhoto application, you can reload it from the original source normally, but should back your library up.
If you deleted the iPhoto library, you need to restore it from a backup or undelete it; if you choose to attempt to undelete it, don't write any more data to the computer until you do.

  • I delete iPhoto from my mac how can i reinstall it?

i cant seem to reinstall iphoto onto my mac help!

Did iPhoto come with your Macbook Pro?  Did your MBP come with Lion preinstalled?  If yes to both questions  delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then download and install iPhoto from the App Store.

I don't have back up since last august but I accidentally delete the message recently.  How can I undo that message back ?

If you haven't backed up to either your computer or iCloud, you can't get the message back. Let this be a lesson to either back your phone up to your computer or to iCloud (or both) regularly.

2 : if you want to download an app from the app store .....use the ~ itunes store~ located on the top right

  • HT4710 accidentally deleted iPhoto on my mac, how do I find/reinstall it? thamks

and was trying to install it by apple wants to charge me $15.99.. or do they now?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I accidentally deleted Mavericks on Apple account how can I retrieve Mavericks

    Hi,
When I was re-downloading Mavericks from my Apple Account I accidentally deleted Mavericks.  Is there anyway I can retrieve this upgrade for my Mac Mini?
Proof of purchase is in my ITunes account.
    Thank you
    rachealfromva

    Racheal,
When did you download Mavericks?  Sounds like you have not installed it since your profile information still shows Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If you did not install Mavericks previously, the problem you are now having is that Mavericks is no longer available.  Only users that already have it installed can redownload, those are the only ones that the Purchase tab shows the download as being available.  You might try calling 1-800-MY-APPLE and explain that you had downloaded and accidentally deleted and would like to download again.  See if they will make an exception.
This has been a tough subject for a number of users lately as Apple decided to remove Mavericks from the Mac OS X options for those not already running it.  Lion, Mountain Lion (both available for purchase from the on-line store), and Yosemite are the only options now.

  • Accidentally deleted a disk image. How can I restore it?

I don't use time machine and I haven't backed up my computer since I created the disk image. Then it was accidentally deleted and the trash was emptied. How can I find and restore the .dmg? Hopefully it's possible. Thanks!

    Hi Mercer215,
If you just trashed the dmg and emptied the trash, the file is actually still there on your drive.
Emptying the trash, just makes the diskspace available again, without erasing anything.
If you have written files afterwards on this disk, it is possible that osx decided to overwrite it to this location, then it is not recoverable.
So if you didn't write much afterwards, you have a good chance with recovery software.
Google for OSX Data Recovery software
    such as Disk Warrior.
Costs some money of course. Depending on how valuable your data is?
I've come across this free program, but I must say: I haven't used this yet. Try at your own risk.

    Disk Drill
maybe read some reviews about it first
    Good luck !

  • I deleted icloud from my mac - how can I get it back?

    Hi!
I was clearing my computer of things I didn't need and at that point I didn't need iCloud. I was stupid enough to delete it and now I can't get it back. What do I do? I haven't found it to download so I'm stuck. I've got the account on the website but I can't get my iCloud to connect between my computer and my iPhone. Please help!

Thanks for your answer Roger but I do believe I have 10.6.8.
I still think that I have erased it because I know that I had it in some form just a while ago. But so, if I'm totaly wrong, what can I do to have iCloud on my computer?
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • HT201272 If I already downloaded my songs then accidentally deleted them from my computer, how can I redownload them? Itunes store shows them as downloaded and unless I go through and try and repurchase each song individually, it wont let me redownload. h

How ccan I redownload my music to the same computer. Downloaded, then deleted, now i tunes won't let me redownload, because I already downloaded. If I go through and try and repurchase the songs it will download them for me but I don't want to have to do that 250 times.

You need to delete the broken entries first, then the tracks will show up with the iCloud download symbols in your purchased histroy and IIRC you can download them all in one go.

  • Accidentally deleted a calendar ... how can I recover it?

I foolishly tried to reorganize some of my calendars by moving events to a different calendar. I say foolishly because I failed to export my calendars before I started this process.
At one point I attempted to delete a calendar that I had emptied but too late I realized I had deleted the wrong one. I then tried to Undo the delete of the calendar but although it restored the calendar it did not restore the events in the calendar. I know that there are problems replacing calendars so I want to be careful in order to recover the events. I have a backup of the iCal folder from this morning which would be current enough but what is the best way to restore it. I used ChronoSync to copy the folder to an external HD.
    Help!
