Error message "cannot connect to iTunes" when trying to make in-app purchase

"Disk cannot be read from or written to" or "disk write error" means that the iPod needs to be restored. I understand that you probably already did this to resolve the !folder issue... but you're still receiving issues that require further troubleshooting. You should try to do this using the latest iPod Updater... which is iPod Updater 2006-03-23. It contains software version 1.2.1 for your iPod (which, FYI, is just called "iPod with color display"). You can download it at:
http://www.apple.com/ipod/download
Downloading this update and restoring your iPod with it will resolve the issue that you're having.

iPod Updater 2006-03-23 had software version 1.1.1 for the iPod Video and iPod Nano only. It has different versions for all the other different generaions and variations of iPod.

    I downloaded an app on ID1. I tried to then sign out and sign in with a new ID2 to do an in-app purchase.  I got an error message saying that I couldn't connect to iTunes store. I read the message boards and found that you can't do this since the apps are linked to the apple ID that was logged in when you downloaded the app.  So I logged out of apple ID2 and logged back to the original ID1 to do the in-app purchase, but I still get the same error message saying that the purchase can't be completed and that it couldn't connect to the iTunes store.  Is there a fix to this???

    Still unable to connect to the iTunes Store after downloading 10.5 to my PC.  I'm running Windows XP with Service Pac 3.  Has anyone had a similiar problem and successfully solved it?  Apple support has been less than helpful!!!

       It worked for me, for iTunes Store and Safari both!

    Has anyone who encountered the problem of not being able to make in-app purchases received an answer from iTunes support? Has that answer solved the problem?

    What happens when you try to do the in-app purchase, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?

    iphone alone on PC -> uploading files (fotos) is possible
    itunes starts normaly, if iphone is not conected.

    In this context, that can sometimes indicate trouble with a content file on the phone (or Touch).
    Do you have any podcasts stored on the iPhone at the moment? If so, if you delete them from the phone, can you connect to iTunes without the error?

    First, try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

    I have exactly the same with my iPad.  All i have now is the connect to iTunes picture.  I have run the diagnostics in itunes (under help menu) and it says that neither my phone or iPad are connectted yet they physically are.  I have gone into device manager and it says there is a software connection problem.  I am trying another pc to connect my pad.   Update - connected ipad to my netbook with latest itunes version and it is carrying out the update.  that means this laptop has a software comms problem with USB.

    So, in iTunes, when you look at the shuffle's content (in the sidebar) and click on the playlist under the shuffle, over to the right, the songs are in your desired order, correct?  Where do you look, or what do you do, that indicates the playlists are in alphabetical order?  Are you saying that when you play the songs while using the shuffle, they play in alphabetical order?
    If so, when you listen to the songs on the shuffle, are you using the playlist, or are you using the All Songs list? If you are in the default All Songs list, with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order (the middle position), the songs play alphabetically, I believe. 
    The 3rd gen shuffle uses VoiceOver.  If you are in the All Songs list, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to the playlist (see manual linked below for details).  When you are in the playlist (with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order), then the songs should play in playlist order.
