HT2534 Where did the option go to not use a credit card for Apple ID?

I downloaded itunes and began to make an Apple ID on iTunes. When I saw that it required a credit card, I came to this support site http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534. I followed the instructions for a computer but found that there was no option 'NONE' on the billing page. I then tried making an Apple ID online and that worked, but when I tried to use that ID to log on to iTunes it still required a credit card. I could only use the account for discussions. I don't have a credit card, and nor was I planning on purchasing anything. I simply wanted to keep CD's on it and maybe some free books/music. Did this option change for the new version of iTunes or am I doing something wrong?

HT1918 iTunes store says I can not use my credit card for the store although it's the same card I've used for years

The itunes store says "this card cannot be used with the iTunes store. Please use another payment method". It's the same card I've always used, it's valid, up to date, and in good standing, and works everywhere else. What' up with this? I don't want to use a different card.

How did you create the account ? If you followed the instructions on this page when creating it then you should have got the 'none' option : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
e.g. on a computer's iTunes, if currently signed into an account then you logged out of it, and you then found a free app in the store and clicked on its free 'price' :
And then clicked on 'create Apple id' on the popup :
When I tried that process to create an account a few days ago I got the 'none' option on the payment details screen.
If you didn't use that process then you will need to create a new account using it (the instructions won't work with an existing account).

My guess is that it's not your Mac, it's the sites where you're inputting you information. Always look for the lock icon and to see if the vendor is using a secure https site, and then hope for the best. Nothing these days is completely secure.

If you don't want your sister to make purchases on your credit card, then Family Sharing is not an appropriate way to do what you want. You can use Find my Friends to locate each other and you can use Shared Photo Streams to share photos.

I have this problem and it's annoying. Plenty of people in this world do not pay for their own stuff!. So i have 5 kids. All there accounts show as my name when people add them for Photo streams etc etc. This is ridiculous. Why not seperate billing address / credit card details to the name of the person on the account? When I click okay, it takes me to the billing information page and since I do not use or have a credit card anymore, I want to change the payment option, but there does not seem to be anyway to change this, as the only options available for payment are three different types of credit cards. How do I edit this information so I can pay by PayPal or have the payment option as none? I would like to be able to purchase music using a PayPal account. I have sent three emails to support and have not been able to fix this problem. Would appreciate any help on how I can change the payment information.

You don't need an Apple ID to use a "classic" iPod. You only need a computer (Mac or PC) that can run iTunes. If your iPod is older, your computer does not even need to run the latest version of iTunes. You can add songs to your iTunes library from music CDs, and song files you have already. Then sync the iPod to that iTunes library.

If you haven't already done so then change your password on your account e.g. by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your iPad and logging into your account, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com - if you do it on your computer or that website you might then need to log out (by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores) and back into your account on your iPad so as to 'refresh' the account on it.
If things have been purchased which you didn't buy, and nobody else has access to your account or devices, then contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
