HT2542 Accessing two different itunes accounts on the one mac... help please.

My wife and I have two separate itune accounts which we use on our ipads, iphones etc both with around 500 downloaded songs, tv programmes, films.  We recently purchased a mac and wabt to be able to access all our media on the mac without having to constantly log in as different people.  Is this possible?

Yes you can.
The fact you cannot access your son's library from your User account is intentional. User accounts on your Mac are nearly as separate from each other as your Macs are from anyone else's on the planet. To copy music from his account to yours, first copy it to the Shared folder, then log into your account and import the music. Then, you can erase it from Shared.
The Shared folder exists at /Users/Shared.

Can I have 2 different iTunes accounts on the one Mac computer

Yes. If you mean Apple IDs, log in and out as needed. If you mean iTunes libraries, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and choose or create one, or use separate Windows user accounts.

So, when the other iTunes account needs to be used, I should log out of Windows and have the other user log in under a different Windows account, correct?
    M Parker,
Yes, since you are trying to keep things separate, that is exactly what you would do.

  • HT2542 Can we have two separate itunes accounts using the same mac?

I am wanting to download music to my Thunderbolt smart phone (i know, no iphone yet, next upgrade) and I want to use itunes to do it. My partner has an itunes account and I thought I opened my own itunes account, but apparently I didn't. I don't like the same music and only want to download music I like to my phone. Can we just have one account and be able to download checked music from the itunes to multiple devices?

    I'm confused

Do you want one or two?
By the way, and iTunes account is really the thing you use online to purchase music, not what you have on a computer.  You have user accounts on a computer, and you have iTunes libraries or collections of media.  You can have multiple user accounts on a computer.  You can have a single or multiple user accounts use a single or multiple libraries.  We need to know exactly what it is you have/want.

  • Can you have two different itunes account on the same computer

how can you have 2 different itunes accounts on the same computer?

You would need two seperate users on the computer. Then each library would be independent of each other. Or do you mean two seperate iTunes store accounts?

  • Can I connect two iPhones to two different iTunes account on the same iMac?

I have one (1) iMac and two (2) iPhones and two (2) iPads...
I have set up two (2) login accounts on the same iMac... one for myself and another for my wife.
Likewise I have setup iTunes account for myself and for my wife in both the logins... the problem occurs when I try and sync my wife's iPhone to her version of the iTunes...
By the way I have authorised the same iMac with both the iTunes account so that me and my wife can have a individual setups and not mess with each others apps / music.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Thanks

Each iTunes account is linked to a different Apple ID.  Setup one iPhone with the Apple ID for your wife and the other with the Apple ID for yourself.  Then sync the iPhones to their respective login/iTunes accounts on the Mac.

  • Can I set up two different ITunes accounts on the same computer?

Is it possible to set up two separate ITunes accounts on one computer and yet share some of the same songs in the Library?

Yes create two users on that computer
One for each account, and then you will have 2 itunes libraries.
Control Panel, user accounts, add new account (give it admin rights).
Log off and then log in with the new account.
Make sure you log out and not switch accounts when moving between the two users.

  • How do I set up two different Itunes accounts on the same computer

I have one PC laptop and my daughter and I both have IPhone 4's.  I want to sync both phones using the same computer but want totally different accounts so that I don't have her music, aps, etc and vice versa.  I've tried this many many times and can never seem to get it right.  If I sign out of my ITunes account and then plug her phone into my computer, it syncs my stuff onto her phone.  HELP!

First thing you need to do is disable auto syncing in iTunes. This is from Edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, etc.
Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is set up separate log in accounts for the laptop. This will allow you to have iTunes in each log in and they can have different content. iTunes cannot have separate content with the same log in and different Apple ID, but you can manage two phones with the same iTunes account. See if any of the information in this support document will help you http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495 but the best solution is separate computer log in.

  • Are we able to homeshare two different itunes accounts in the same house?

My husband and I have seperate itunes accounts and would like to share with each other, are we able to homeshare with multiple accounts?

There are add-ons that can help with this. I have never used any of these, but any of these should be able to do what you want:

  • Sharing songs between different iTunes accounts on the same Mac

    Hello
I am a newbie to Mac. My wife and I both have seperate iTunes accounts set up on our seperate user accounts on our MacBook. Can we share songs between our accounts?

The process for sharing libraries is much [easier in iTunes 8|http://forums.macworld.com/thread/105366?tstart=0]. If you simply want to share a few songs, you are better off having a copy of those tracks in each of your libraries, but there is little point to that as you can access each other’s libraries in read-only fashion.

  • How do I share music from different itunes accounts in the same Mac, in different users account on that Mac with different iPhones?

    Hi
My wife and I share the same Mac.
She has her session and I have mine thus each of us has our iTunes session with our own music and settings.
She has her iTunes account and I have mine too.
And..;)...she has her Iphone and of course I also have mine.
    So, the big question:
Both like music that the other has bought but we do not want to buy it twice! (through her account and mine).
Is there a way to share music I purchase so she can have it in her iTunes session and therefore have it also on her iPhone when she syncs..and of course viceversa for me too?
It goes without saying that although we like music the other one has, we do not like all of the music, so basically we want to have the possibility to share those special songs we like so we can have them both in our phones and individual Itunes sessions.
Was that clear or I lost you???
Any answer will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

First of all if you havent done it yet i think u shold authorize the mac on both accounts on itunes. You also can switch the accounts on your Iphones at itunes while you are in the internet adn download the music.
This is just an idea you should think of. For sure there are other ways I dont know.

  • Can I install two different iPhoto applications on the same Mac?

Can I install two different iPhoto applications on the same Mac?

Please explain in more detail what you are wanting to do.
Do you want to have two different versions of iPhoto, have two different Libraries or Share iPhoto with multiple users?
Two different iPhoto versions (06 and 08, 08 and 09 for examples) is a problem and I say no because the older version can not use a Library that the newer version has modified.

If it is in your itunes on your computer, then select it to sync just like everything else that you sync.
The music must be on your computer.
