HT2589 App updates asking for apple id with wrong apple id

My husband is trying to update an app on his ipad and it is not only asking for apple I'd password, but it brings up my apple Id. We checked in setting and t shows his apple id. How can he update without signing in especially with my id.

You should be prompted for the password for the account that originally bought/downloaded the app. Have you tried typing in your account's password when trying to download the update - you shouldn't need to go into Settings and log out of his account and in with yours.
If it was definitely bought/downloaded with his account, then depending upon what the app is and whether it has any content in, then you could try deleting it and re-downloading it from his account.

If it is trying to verify your payment info, I would be willing to guess that it is looking for the security code for your credit card. Did you credit card just get replaced lately or the expiration date change? When is the last time that you updated your payment information in iTunes?

  • I have a new email address which I have had verified, but when I try to update an app it asks for my password with the old email address and always comes back telling me it is an incorrect password.

    Hi Vivian Zollman,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I'm not sure if you are referring to your Apple ID or just your email account in the Mail app.  So, I've included all of the articles that may be relevant for you.

If you already have an email account set up and you want to modify its settings, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap the name of your account, and then your email address. Then tap any information you want to adjust.

  • App updates asks for old apple Id?

I changed my email and then updated my apple I'd.  Have access to apple store.
Apps icon shows multiple updates, but when I try to update, it shows y old email address.  And asks for a password.
How do I change this to e new apple I'd?
    Pat

If what marion suggests does not work, then you will need to know the apple id password associated with the app when you bought it.  I believe (but may be wrong) that the buying id is associated with the app forever. ( that is to keep folks from giving apps to each other)

  • App Store asks for Apple ID for Upgrades

iPhone 4s 6.1.1, Apple ID has been entered in Settings
When I want to update an App as the App Store shows a badge it shows ''Updating" for a moment, then a window appears with "Use Existing Apple ID". I enter both the ID and the password but no update. When I delete the app and then d/l it again the system automatically recognizes the Apple ID and d/l the app.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

Downloaded it from where? If you got it anywhere other than through the app store, what you have is an illegal bootleg. It's asking for the ID/password of the original purchaser.

  • App updates asking for different email addresses

This is so annoying, certain Apps that require updates are asking for further security details. I have now used two different email addresses and now another App needs updating and this also requires further security questions, the problem is each this happens it won't accept the previous email address
It appears each time this issue arises, you need to have a different email address. Can anyone help, it's driving me mad

My husband and I both have iphone 3gs. iTunes on one home PC, there are two apps that he cant update cuz it asks for my password on his phone w/ my email already filled in. On iTunes I clicked on the apps and then FILE>Get info and I see that it says I was the original person to get app. But it never did this until maybe the last 2 updates he did for the phone. He thinks its all my fault of coarse. Can someone please help?
p.s. If he tries to download a new app, there's no problem.

  • Apps keep asking for apple ID password

How exactly can I save my password?
    Thanks!

  • App updates ask for a different Apple ID

    iPhone 6, White, 64GB, AT&T
    iOS 8.1.3
I backed up my phone yesterday before getting it replaced. I usually backup my phone on my elderly laptop but decided to use my girlfriends desktop instead. Once I got the new phone, I connected it to the desktop and authorized the computer to interact with the phone blah blah. Typed in my Apple ID information into the iTunes pop-up. Started restoring my phone and left it alone until it was complete. The next day, I went to update some apps through the App Store on the phone. It asked me to put in the password for an Apple ID but it listed my girlfriends ID. I went to the Features tab and verified that I was actually logged in with my Apple ID. I then went to Settings and checked iCloud and iTunes App Store and both listed my Apple ID.
If it matters, the backup was performed while the phone was on the previous iOS version, then was upgraded to 8.1.3 after it was restored.
What's the easiest way to fix this? Should I backup on the laptop and restore from there? I'd like to avoid that if possible. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The apps that are requesting updates that are showing that they want your girlfriend's Apple ID are apps that were downloaded using your girlfriend's Apple ID.  In other words, that copy of the app knows that it is associated to her Apple ID.
    You'll have to either:
    A) Use her password to update the app, and continue to use her password to update them in the future.
    B) Delete that copy of the app, then download a fresh copy of the app using your Apple ID from the App Store.

  • Three of my iMac apps keep asking for Apple ID passwords

It just drives me crazy. One of this is the Movist player, which I use to view all kinds of media on my computer and use all the time. This happened with Mountain Lion and now with Mavericks. The apps in question, seem to be calling home or the Apple store and then the login/password screen appears.
Also, if I don't have an Internet connection, these apps -- like Movist -- just don't work. They don't launch. Obviously they are waiting for some Interent command.
I tried re-installing, no use, same thing.
Anyone know a way to solve this.
    Thanks in advance.

  • App store asks for login to the wrong account

My previously employer had initially purchased this software (FCPX) on this Mac. When I left the company I was allowed to purchase the Mac from them. I no longer have access to the Apple ID that was used to purchase this software on this Mac so I deleted it (FCPX) from my Mac and repurchased it from my AppleID however, when I try to update FCPX the App Store demands the password for my old AppleID. How do I get the software that I purchased to update?

I have this same problem! All the iOS apps on 2 iPads and 2 iPhones have to be deleted and reinstalled again when clearly the iTunes Store must know that those apps were originally acquired under the previous Apple ID. Why is the "ownership" of the apps not heritable??? I've been into the "Featured" tab in the App Store to look to sign out of the old ID but it shows the correct current ID. There are currently 47 apps needing an update, all of which won't download because they were purchased or acquired with the old ID. When I changed ISP's back in August of this year I was told my Apple Support that the original Apple ID tied to my previous ISP had to be deleted, without ever mentioning that this would involve this aggravating process of having to delete old apps and try to replace them by making a list of those that won't download under the new ID and reinstalling them all over again. Several apps were "paid" apps and I don't see why I should have to pay for them again! Oftentimes I just give up rather than have to go through this frustrating & arduous process of delete-sign out of ID-sign back in-try to download again when Apple could simply mark your new ID as having replaced the old ID.

  • HT5622 I sign-in with my Apple ID to update my apps. Asks for my password. Type it in and it just takes me right back to the update screen. What an I doing wrong?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

No.  purchases are forever tied to the apple ID used to buy them.  Delete them and buy your own copies.

  • In AppStore.app for some reason when I try to update my apps, it asks for the wrong user account than the one that I am logged in with. This makes me unable to update my apps

In AppStore.app for some reason when I try to update my apps, it asks for the wrong user account than the one that I am logged in with. This makes me unable to update my apps

You would have downloaded those apps with the wrong Apple ID then created a new Apple ID which is the on you are on now. This is acting as normal because all content downloaded from the iTunes and App Store is attached to the Apple ID it was downloaded with. To stop this you would delete the apps and redownload them with your current Apple ID you are signed in with.

  • I can no longer buy, download, or update apps/iTunes without being asked for apple ID and billing information to be declined

I can no longer buy, download, or update apps/iTunes without being asked for apple ID and billing information. Even if apps are free or updating I'm asked for billing information. It's been like this for a couple of weeks after the purchase of a movie off iTunes and the purchase was successful but afterwards my App Store and iTunes stopped working properly. Help me please, thanks.

  • Iphone app store asks for old apple id when i try to update apps

I recently reset my apple id. However when I try to update apps in my iphone it asks for my old apple id info. When I enter this in it states that the info is incorrect and needs to be reset. However when I download new apps the app store asks for my recently updated apple id info. When I have tried to delete the apps that need to be updated and buy them again, I was charged for the app. As a result I cannot update any apps. How can I fix this?

You changed it wrong. You should have done it this way:
