HT2589 Can I make one without a credit card but still use it in the app store?
I need help on this. My parents won't let me use their credit cards or debit cards even if I say I will only download stuff that's free. Help!
I saw the article but it didn't help me because it will say "if you have a apple id already click here" and when i clicked on the link it brought me to the article that I asked the question on. And you need a credit card.

Unless the payment methods in your account offer you a None option, you cannot download anything without either a bank card or an iTunes gift card.
Otherwise, you can create a new Apple ID (this does not work with an existing Apple ID) using this method from Apple to get free apps;

You use a debit card just like you use a credit card in iTunes. You have to enter the card number, security code and billing address as you would with a credit card when you set up the ID. You can make changes to your payment method in your account at any time.
If you want to create an Apple ID without using a credit card you must first sign out of the Apple ID that you already created in Settings>Store>Your Apple ID.
But ...you will also need another email address now if you already created an Apple ID, because that first email address is now associated with that first ID that you created.
If you do have a debit card, you may just be better off entering that card information into your account and use that now. You don't need to even use the debit card if you can purchase iTunes gift cards and redeem those. I use iTunes gift cards exclusively now instead of using my credit card. -
I can't seem to update my apps or make any purchases on from my account. Nothing has changed with my credit card information and for some reason the iTunes Store tells me my information is incorrect. What do I do?
Yes, it's frustrating.
I don't have my iPod with me but, as I recall, the change is done in Settings/Store. That change will apply to NEW purchases. However, be aware that all purchases are permanently associated with the Apple ID that was originally used. Generally, it's only a problem when you need to update an app. IF you do your updating from iTunes and your logged in to the "wrong" ID, you'll need to log out and back in again. It's easier from the iPod as you do not need to log out/in but you do need to know the password.
Unfortunately, you can not merge IDs nor can you transfer purchases from one ID to another. Go here to find out exactly what you have. I have the same problem so I deliberately made both passwords identical to make things slightly easier for me. -

The "None" option is not available. Presumably because I have already purchased on that Apple ID with a credit card.
That is not likely the case. As you can see in my account in the US store I have a bank card in place and I have the None option. -
I have been making in-app purchases with PayPal for over a year. Now I cannot. I changed my payment method to Credit card, but still can't. I can purchase music in itunes but no game purchases. My ID was disabled after a paypal dispute but after an entire evening on the phone with support and security, that was resolved. Any suggestions? If I have to spend more time on the phone with support, I will. But I would rather not.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Can Apple TV use the balance from my iTunes Store when renting a movie? I couldnt find the option so I believe it will charge my credit card it made me add to the iTunes Store settings.
For the avoidance of doubt, you must have enough of a balance to pay for the rental in full, it won't take the balance and the difference by credit card. If you don't have enough of a balance it will all be taken by credit card.

Did you follow the instructions on that page exactly when you created the account ? They worked for me yesterday on my computer's iTunes when I tried them in response to another thread.
e.g. I logged out of my existing account and found a free app in the store and clicked on its free 'price'
I then clicked on 'create Apple id' on the popup :
And after agreeing to the terms and filling in my details I was able to select 'none' as the payment method.
