HT2693 why dont i have RSS feed on my safari anymore on Mavericks?

this really bothers me and dont know why they took it off! anyway i can get it back on my safari?

@ etresoft: Well, I downloaded it from the official Java site, so I supposed it should be safe! And by the way, how do I know you're software doesn't contain malware now?
@ Thomas: I read your article and removed those internet plugins. I also removed anything Java related, or at least I believe I did. I didn't notice anything suspicious in the internet plugins however. I'm still bothered where this "Youtube downloader" plugin has gone. I mean I've installed it, it MUST be somewhere...
If you want I can send you that DMG file, in case you think you could analyse it somehow? I still have the site I downloaded it from somewhere in my history, it shouldn't be hard to find it. But I don't want you to get infected as well, so I wouldn't open it! Perhaps you can analyze it in a way without opening it however?
For now however, Safari seems to work. No more redirecting. Java is allowed, so are plugins and also extensions. I'm still worried that the thing is hiding somewhere in my computer and that it may get hold of private data.
I've run an app called VirusBarrier express earlier (downloaded from the App store, should be safe!), it scanned by whole computer and didn't find anything. But then... it may not have found anything because this isn't a virus, right? Do you believe it can found trojans or other malware?
@ etre: I've still run your program and don't think I've noticed anything suspicious! I don't want to post everything on here since it also may contain private data (I saw an email address) so maybe you can tell me what to look out for? There's a few things where it says "failed" but I've had these for ages.

Why dont I have an update facility on my ipad

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Missing RSS Feed Listing in Safari

How do restore RSS feeds on the Safari's tool bar? The listing is gone in bookmarks???? If I go to website to download feeds, a drop down RSS Add Feed menu asked, and I responded to add to Safari, to no avail. I've used Mail for reading but want to use Safari for reading.

    Hello nav:
I think that would happen if you reset Safari.
If that does not work, try trashing the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and then restarting.
Edit #2: If you have one, also trash com.apple.safari.RSS.plist and restart.
Edit: I just recalled that I think you should open Mail>preferences>RSS reader and select Safari from the drop down menu.

  • Why won't my RSS feeds update since July 10, 2012?

I subscribe to several blogs through my RSS feed.  I just went into my feed in Mac Mail and notice that none of them have updated since July 10, 2012.  What would cause all of my feeds to stop updating after that date?  I just performed a software update hoping that would fix the problem, but it still won't update.  Can anyone suggest some steps to resolve this?

    Nevermind.
I found a thread with a solution from Cnet and it worked perfectly. Back up and running.

  • Having trouble accessing rss feed addresses through safari

When I'm looking at a blog in Safari, and click the button for (say) "RSS feeds, entries," I get an error message that says "no associated application could be found." I have no way to get the feed address.
I used to get a pop-up menu that allowed me  to to either import the feed into one of the popular readers, or to cut and paste it manually.I'm using Feedly  now (and playing with Digg Reader), if that helps.
On Firefox, all works exactly as expected.

I have recently uninstalled Trusted Extensions on a few of the machines and I have full use of the browser manager for my APC PowerChute software. Are there certain privledges I need to set up within TX to allow local access to the afformentioned port/software?

  • RSS Feed Errors in Safari 3.0.4 running OS X Leopard

Hello. I recently upgraded to LEOPARD. Since my upgrade, I am unable to access any of my RSS feeds in Safari (nor can I subcribe to new ones). The error message I receive is: -- Safari can’t open the page “feed://www.apple.com/main/rss/hotnews/hotnews.rss”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (PubSub error 203.)” (PubSub:203) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. -- Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

OK, i finally seem to have solved my problem as well, though, amazingly, not in the permissions-changing manner described right above here...which i, of course, spent about 15-20 minutes trying to no avail.
what i did, and which is ridiculously backwards and old-fashioned, was to
    1. make a new admin user in system preferences/accounts,
    2. log this new temporary admin user in,
    3. load up safari,
    4. load up an RSS feed, which -- a welcome sight, indeed -- actually loaded and appeared as it used to, long ago...
    5. quit safari
    6. go to the new user's library/pubsub folder, and make a ZIP/compressed archive of that, and place it in a location where i could get it from my own account,
    7. log out the new user
    8. log myself back in
    9. delete my (troublesome) pubsub folder from my library, and replace it with the uncompressed one i had just created via the temporary admin user
    10. restarted. this is important, cos it's what finally worked.

  • RSS Feeds and older Safari

I was wondering if you can get RSS feeds on older versions of Safari. I am running 1.3 right now.
If this is not possible, than is their a way to load Safari 2.0 onto Mac OSX 10.3.9?
    Thanks for your help.
    GH

    Greg,
there´s no way of loading Safari 2.0 on Panther. Try using a different browser. I´m a news junkie too and I´ve been searching for a browser that has an RSS feed feature and which could run under 10.3.9. I´ve found Opera (no ads, free) and Omniweb ($29.95) to be the best on this feature.

  • Why dont I have settings and Utilities in my "Tool...

    hi,
For some reason I dont have settings and utilities in my tools menu? Does anyone know why or how I can fix this? There is so much i cant do without it. I have tried updating my n96 through my pc with the nokia updater software but it keeps saying that it cannot find my phone connected.
Thanks for your help. I really have no idea what to do.
    Cheers

Hi, you may be able to find the functions you need in file manager and move them back to the location you want them in.Would involve less re-setting than a hard reset (which will almost certainly work by the way, just takes a while to set up phone again)
    Good Luck

  • Why Do I Have Two Feeds at the Itunes Store?

I began podcasting through wordpress. To do so I made a category called "Podcast" which then becomes the feed that goes to the Itunes store.
Because of the limitations of Wordpress I went to feedburner and burned the same feed.
And NOW, on the Itunes store I have two podcast feeds. They are exactly the same in content, but one is from my Wordpress feed and one is my wordpress feed burned with feedburner. Does anyone know how I can do away with the wordpress feed without damaging the feed?
I would so deeply appreciate help on this.
    Thank you!

It's a bit odd, seeing that the Feedburner feed was apparently accepted before. Feedvalidator says the feed is valid, though it does throw up a few point you might want to look at - see here. It's also possible to subscribe in iTunes using the 'Advanced' menu, so there isn't anything seriously wrong with the feed.
I can only suggest that you try resubmitting it. You may find you need to make some small change to the title.

  • Why dont i have latest Photoshop in CC? I notice I am missing a lot of filters eg Blur Folder. Is it because of CS3?

I was sure that the advertising around CC said we would pay for latest versions. This doesnt appear to be the case. Just wondering why am I paying for old version.

IMAC RUNNING VERSION OS X 10.6.8 PROCESSOR 2.66 GHZ CORE 2 DUO, 4GB 1067 MHZ DDR3, INSTALLED PHOTOSHOP CC V14.2.1 X 64. Does this help towards an answer? The problem is that when CC was first launched sales staff informed that CC would always be the latest as we are paying monthly subscriptions. As a photographer i wanted to do a special effect in post and was informed by a colleague on the other side of Australia that this effect can easily be done by a filter in the BLUR folder. Checking my version I didn't have such a beast and checking the Adobe site it was obviously an update. I done an update to my paid version but no such filters were included. Therefore it is apparent that i must be paying for a lesser version or...I must have pay more for the latest version.

  • Updating IOS5 - Why dont i have the option in my settings?????

No, I have ios 4.3. Im trying to update to ios 5.  As mentioned, The timing out is when I connect my iphone to my pc and try to download ios5 through ITUNES - its just keeps timing out (when it gets to about 34minutes) with an error message.  Which from what ive googled is common.  But how do you get around that.
Disable your antivirus and firewall software. If you are running Kaspersky, you may need to remove it entirely. It can interfere with the update process.
Yes I synced this phone long ago but have no program to transfer music 'from the iphone to the pc'.  From what ive been told in the past you are unable to do it.  Well, until I found a program for it.  Is there an apple program to do this???
No. There is no Apple software that will do this. Music purchased from iTunes can be transferred using File>Transfer Purchases in iTunes on the PC. Anything else had to be synced from a PC to the phone to begin with. You should have those files already. If the computer they were on crashed, was destroyed, etc. then you shoud have a backup of that computer. Backups are the responsibility of the user. The iPhone is not a backup device.
If the music in question came from a comptuter that you do not own, and you do not have the originals of the music (audio CDs, etc), then you have no legal right to have the music in the first place. Copying someone else's music is theft.
The music is not copied from someone elses computer.  It's mine I purchased from itunes directly to my phone. (off topic).
Im running Avira antivirus and im extremely hesitant to disable this and use the internet - in the past I have had computers crash from Trojans trying this technique.
    Good job Apple!!! Not!

  • HT204389 why dont i have siri on my iphone4s it has ios 6

My IPHONE 4S doesnt have siri but its been updated to IOS 6 why? And how do i get it?

The iPhone comes with Siri pre-installed. Are you sure you do not have an iPhone 4? Did you have Siri prior to the update?

  • HT1819 Why are my old rss feeds not updating to new URL?

RE: older iTunes podcast links broken after Squarespace 6 upgrade to new URL
In the content manager, under blog settings, I have updated my URL in configure blog --> syndication by clicking on the change your feed URL to the new squarespace URL for version 6.
I have no problem in that any newly created content is showing up and working in iTS (iTunes Store) but a problem in that the older files under the same folder (directory?) that are also assigned the newly updated URL do not show up.
The older ones appear in iTS as the old squarespace URL still AND now they do not work at all.
Is there a difference in lag time in updating previously posted podcasts and freshly created ones that live in the same folder?
The old URL podcast name in iTS even has a different "title" name.
It has been about 12 hours so perhaps the old ones will follow suit if I am patient.
It just seems odd the news ones living next to the old ones are already working and posting on the iTS under the new URL while the old ones have quit working altogether.

I know where the feed button is located, and I found each feed that I subscribed to. But there is no way to know which feed contains new content, and is therefore useless. As they are listed now, they are the same as any other bookmark, and I would have to open each one to see if a blog was updated. In IE, each blog title turns to bold print when it was been updated. Is this option available in Firefox?

  • In Safari why dont I have icon in toolbar that shows how many open pages I have?

Apparently when using Safari on the iPad there should be a little icon in the toolbar that looks like a rectangle and has various numbers in it. Apparently this shows how many open pages you have. When you tap on that icon, you are shown a page with thumbnails of the pages you have open. Unfortunately my husband's iPad does not have that tooblar icon. I cant seem to find any answers on the internet, from friends, from the IT people at work, the local people who sell iPads. Thanks to anyone who can help.

That was the case in iOS 4, but its not the same in iOS 5. Apple moved to a tab-based interface for the iPad in iOS 5. The old thumbnail view is no longer included.
    Regards.

why arent there all my songs(574) in iTunes when i add them to my libary??
it sais there are only 548

Are they in a supported format for iTunes?
    Adding music to iTunes
From the above link: "iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format."
