HT2729 Adding select movies from library to ipad

Reinstalled itunes after reformating computer.  Now I can view my itune library for movies but cannot add selected ones to my ipad or iphone.  Any ideas about fix?

You usually get that message if your iPad never been synced to this computer in the past. If you can sync the one movie, I don't understand why you are getting that message or are there details that you are leaving out or forgetting?
I think that the blue dot means that the movie has not been viewed yet.

Connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then use the Movies tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync your film the iPad's Videos app. If it says that it isn't compatible with the iPad then try doing Advanced > Create iPad Version and then try syncing that version over.

  • Downloading rented movie from library to ATV

I rented a movie from itunes and downloaded it on my laptop. I have not watched the movie yet and I wanted to watch it on Apple TV (ATV). I open my itunes and it is listed on rented movies and gives me an option to "move" from library to ATV (only after I downloaded the new update), but it will not sync to the ATV. The syncing starts but then 10 sec later just returns to the orignal screen without transfer. Suggestions???

Only the newest iPods (Touch, iPhone, Classic, 3rd gen Nano) support rental movies. You've posted in the forum for a much older iPod, one that doesn't supprt videos of any kind. Which iPod do you actually have? When did you buy it?

Ripping commercial DVDs is against the DMCA in the US, we can't tell you how to do it.
Use handbrake for DVDs with your home movies on it.

You don't.  Import them into iTunes and then sync your devices.  See iOS: Syncing with iTunes,

  • HT1491 Downloaded movie from Itunes onto Ipad, when tried to watch it would not start

Downloaded movie from Itunes onto Ipad, when tried to watch it would not open and start.

From iTunes on the iPad or from iTunes on your computer? BTW, you are trying to watch the movie in the videos app, correct?
if you synced the movie to the iPad, delete it and sync it again. Tap the Edit Button in the Movies tab of the Videos app and then tap the X on the movie icon to delete it. Then sync it again.
if you downloaded it directly to the iPad, close the videos app completely, reboot the iPad and then try again.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • HT1390 Does it use data to watch a rented movie from iTunes on IPad? Is it streaming or just downloaded?

You must get the movie onto your iPad somehow. If you download it while on Wi-Fi you will not use cellular data. Once the movie has been downloaded you will not use cellular data or Wi-Fi.

HOW CAN I GET MOVIES FROM THE COMPUTER TOO MY IPAD?

You can sync them via iTunes. If they are in a supported format then you should be able to add them to your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library (if they aren't in a supported format then you might be able to something such as Handbrake to convert them). Then connect your iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the Films/Movies tab on the right-hand side select the films that you want to sync, and they should sync to the Videos app on the iPad - if they don't sync then try converting them in iTunes via Advanced > Create iPad Version and then sync those.
For future info, typing all in capitals is considered to be shouting.

    Converting Video for ipad use:
    1-Download HandBrakeBatch app
2-Open iPhoto app and select videos to be converted
3-Drag videos to HandBreakBatch "video files" window
4-Choose "iPad" as the video format from the drop down menu
5-Choose "CONVERTED VIDEO" folder as the file destination
    6-START conversion
7-When complete, add newly converted videos to iPhoto (drag folder to iphoto icon) and add them to "CONVERTED VIDEOS FOR IPAD" album.
8-Connect iPad (iTunes already knows to sync to the iPhoto album ("CONVERTED VIDEOS FOR IPAD").
I bought a new iPad Air from the Apple store in Madison, Wisconsin about a month ago. I asked how to transfer movie files from my Mac Book Pro to the iPad. It took the Genius about two hours to figure out the process. He typed the above instructions. I have not actually gone thru the above steps.
    Hope this helps

  • Wirelessly sync movie from iTunes to iPad?

I can see my itunes library on home sharing and play the movies easily enough on the ipad from itunes.  However, I can not crack the code to copy a movie from itunes WIRELESSLY to the ipad.

I guess I don't know where to transfer them from. Where do I go to do that?  Within Videos I see "Movies" (the movies already on the ipad) and "shared" (the content on itunes on the Mac).  Even some vids that ~40MB I can stream from itunes, but that is it.  Should I be trying to transfer them from somewhere else on the ipad?  Heck, I just realized I don't know how to wireless transfer music to the ipad either.

  • How do I move movies from iTunes to iPad?

The instructions say to use the "Move" button, but there is no move button.  In fact, there's nothing on the screen at all but the cover art for the movie.  I used to drag and drop but looks like that's no longer an option either.  Can you not transfer movies between devices anymore?

If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.

  • Tranfer movies from computer to ipad?

How do I transfer a movie from my computer library to my iPad?  I have been trying to download a purchased movie on my iPad for my grandkids, I have been at it for 3 days now.    It takes so long one.  It download to about 1.5 gm to maybe 1.7 then it stops and starts over again. Yesterday it did it 5 times.  today about 3 times so far. it stops shuts down. I go back in and it starts all over.   I think it is the internet booting me off, if I am on so many hours.  It takes about 8 hours to download 1 Movie.  I hate the cloud.   I have a few movies on my computer, Can I just transfer it over to my iPad?

It may be your internet connection. Sometimes they have issues with large files.
For the movies on your computer, if they're not already there, move those movies to the 'videos' folder on your computer. (in your 'my documents' you'll have 'my music, my pictures, my videos' etc. Put your movie in there.
Then connect your iPad and open iTunes.
In iTunes, click on the name of your iPad, then on the videos tab. You should see the videos in that tab.
If you don't, in iTunes, file, import files navigate to  where your movies are and import them. Then check the video tab again.
Choose the movies you want on your iPad and then sync and unless there's any digital rights issues they should transfer across.

  • Transfering movies from library to icloud

I moved previous purchases from another computer and added them to my library.  They are stored in my imedia folder on my computer, and show in my library allowing me to download when synced to my computer, but not on my device as being part of the icloud.  How do I get these movies to show available to download from the icloud on my device?
