I had the same problem. In the end I downloaded it manually. Here's the steps assuming you are on a Mac and have an iPad Air (Wifi). If not you can find other restore links here.
In the terminal (it kept failing to download in Safari):
curl http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7.1/031-4521.20140310.D2Ydl/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Rest ore.ipsw >>~/Desktop/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Restore.ipsw
Once the file has downloaded, move it to ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates/
Quit and relaunch iTunes.
Should now work for you.

I created a movie using imovie and need to export it or publish it, but everytime I try it quits unexpectedly before it finishes creating the file. The same happens when I try to play the movie full screen or copy photos from one project to another. Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks for your replies. That's what I was doing prior to creating a new event before importing. I was allowing iMovie to copy the file to my SSD, then once it had finished copying, I would move the file (or event I should say) to my RAID volume by holding command + dragging from within iMovie.
I don't have Final Cut Pro installed. The uncompressed video works a treat in iMovie. Very happy with it so far.

Make sure if you are sending a .zip that the instructor understands they need to extract all of the files first.
In zipped websites, a browser will open a page, but none of the links within that page will work so images will be broken and page links will be 404.

Check Finderr->Preferences->General and ensure that HDs are selected for display. If so and they still don't, Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, and see if that does the trick.
