HT2729 Latest version of itunes affecting homesharing?
I have just downloaded the latest version of I-tunes and to my surprise have found that the only thing that will play via homesharing on my I-pad is the latest episode of Castle I purchased after the download. All previous episodes are unavailable. All other episodes of various purchased tv episodes are also unavailable. I can see the files in the shared tv episodes screen on my Ipad, but they will not open. I can stream them using Air Video Server however and they all play perfectly, but it's an inconvenience. Any thoughts?
Disable Direct3D acceleration in the player you are using.
If you use VLC media player, Go to preferences, Video, And under output, change from default to "Direct 2D video output"
If you use Quicktime, Downgrade to Quicktime 7.6 or upgrade to quicktime 7.7.3 and Go to
Edit --> Preferences -->Quicktime preferences.
Under that, go to advanced tab, and uncheck "Enable Direct3d acceleration" (3'rd box)
Fixed the problem for me

iTunes has various components bundled with it that it requires for general usage. I advise that we completely remove iTunes and all of these related components, verify that they have been removed, then reinstall. To do so, please follow the steps in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Note: it is important to remove the 7 components in order. Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
If the above does not resolve your issue, I recommend we reset the SC Info folder:

So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.

- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Latest version of iTunes does not work on Windows Vista
after downloading the latest version of iTunes, it would not load up & could not be run. I started getting an error message when the computer was started - so the problem is affecting the startup menu i guess. Anyway - no iTunes at all.
I cannt remember the error message i received on startup - but it was looking for a program & was telling me to re-install it. I did not realize it had anything to do with iTunes until i actually tried to start iTunes from my desktop & got the same error message.
i tried:
1) restarting my computer
2) uninstalling different unnecessary Apple software packages (iCloud, all of the remote maintenance crap)
3) restarting again
4) uninstalling & reinstalling iTunes & restarting
...none of this worked. In fact, i cannot even re-install iTunes w/out getting an error message.
The error message i got when re-installing iTues was identical to the one I got when I installed the latest updates when prompted by the update server.
very frustrating! did Apple hire IT people from my day job? Because they tend to botch stuff in the same manner.
dwi forgot the exact text of the original error message, but it was looking for a *.dll that was not there - as if the install had not completed.
tried re-installing & it would stop in the middle of the download with a completely different error message - i was going to screen grab it, but then i got it to work!
Anyway, after uninstalling everything related to iTunes, emptying my recycle bin, cleaning up a bunch of unnecessary files, and stopping some programs that were running in the background (using task manager) - i did a complete re-install from the Apple iTunes website & it worked fine.

AFTER DOWNLOADING THE LATEST VERSION OF ITUNES, I CAM GETTING AN ERROR WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT. MSVCR80.DLL WAS NOT FOUND. UNABLE TO LOCATE COMPONENT. BEFORE I REMOVE THIS VERSION AND TRY TO RELOAD AGAIN, JUST WANTED TO BE SURE I WOULDN'T LOSE ALL 200 PURCHASED SONGS ON MY PC.

I was upgrading to the latest version of itunes, and my new ipad mini was connected to my computer at the same time, try to sync for the first time. I have updated the latest version of iTunes [11.2.1] but in the App Store it is still showing as outstanding and that it needs to be installed. How do I fix this?

HT1351 my ipod classic will no longer sync any movies on latest version of itunes --- why?
Both of my iPods will no longer sync any movies. They always did before without any problem. I am using latest version of itunes. Any suggestions?
If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?

I have a new laptop with Windows 8 as operating system. Installed latest version of iTunes ontop computer. I can play music in My Library but when I click on iTunes, I get the message " iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available."

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.
