HT2729 Why is there not enough room in my itunes library

Why do I get a message that there is not enough room in my iturnes library when syncing?

Why is this so difficult to figure out?
The message is quite clear.  The size of the iTunes library is larger than the space available on the device.
Stop attempting to sync the entire library to the device.

When I try to sync my iPhone with iTunes, it says that there is not enough room in my itunes library for my phone to sync. Why is this? Do I need to delete stuff off my library? Or is my laptop too full? Or is it that my phone hasn't got enough space? ...Or something else?

  • HELP WHY IS THERE NOT ENOUGH ROOM

So, i have a 4GB mini ipod and I went through and deleted all my songs on my itunes and got the itunes to be at 3.89 GB and theyre still saying that there is not enough room to upload all of the songs, I do not understand!
    PLEASE HELP

Due to differences in the way disk space is calculated, you can only put approximately 3.7GB of content on a 4GB iPod.

Pretty sure it doesn’t say there is not enough room in iTunes library because it is not backed up to the iTunes library.
    What is the exact message?

  • TS4062 I am completely frazzled! My iPhone 4s says I'm over my GB's so now I can't even delete ANYTHING, not even my texts! also when I try to sync with Itunes it says there is not enough room in the itunes library for me to sync. What do I do now?

I REALLY need help!!! My iPhone 4s is apparently OVER the amount of GB its supposed to have so it now will not even let me delete ANYTHING! Not my texts, apps- to free up space, NOTHING! It keeps kicking me off my email, wont let me get voicemail, see who last called on my "recents",  wont let me send or receive text's or even let me change things in my settings. Now when I go to iTunes to sync, so I can try to free up space, iTunes sais there isn't enough space in its library for all my stuff so it WON'T sync either!!! I'm frozen and I have A LOT of VERY important stuff on my phone that I REALLY need! Can anyone tekk me what to do? PLEASE!!!!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

  • HT4927 Not enough room to restore iPhoto library from time machine

my macbook is full. That is why I started trying to transfer files to an external hard drive in the first place. Something happened in the process and I lost my iphoto library. Now when I try to restore from my time machine back i get "not enough room" to restore the library message. Help!!

Why not restore the library to the EHD and run it from there.  If you need a smaller library to run on your MB create a new one by launching iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the Create button in the window that appears and create a new library in your Pictures folder.
If you need to move/copy events or albums between your two libraries use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager which can copy between libraries and keep keywords, titles, descriptions, places, etc. intact with the photos.

  • I deleted my itunes library (after backing up) now i want to restore from TM to my MBA but its saying there is not enough room even though the library is 22GB and there is 27GB free on my MBA??

    Hi everyone,
I deleted my itunes library (after backing up to my time machine) to download a large torrent,  now i want to restore my itunes library to my MBA from time machine but its saying there is not enough room on my MBA even though the library is 22GB and there is 27GB free on my MBA??

    Here's something else to consider:
Since Snow Leopard, OS X uses a Decimal count for file size. iTunes however still uses a Binary count. What that means is: your iTunes library shows one size, while the folder shows another. Depending on the size of your library, this can be a pretty big difference.
Yours won't be that much, but it may be enough to prevent it from moving to the MBA from the TM.

  • There not enough room to d/l ios8 on my ipad 2.  My 5s phone u/l fine.  Should I be concerned about any backups that my ipad would not work with?

My 5s phone d/l ios8 fine.  My ipad 2 does not have enough space.  Is there any concerns I might have to pay attention to (if) I save to icloud?

No that's not correct. Any apps that were working on your iPad in iOS 7 will still work on your iPad. You would only be downloading apps if you delete them from the device. Most apps are being updated for iOS 8 but that doesn't mean that they will not still work in iOS 7 or in iOS 6 for that matter.
What you cannot do is restore a backup from the phone to the iPad now because you cannot restore a newer OS backup to an older OS device. The phone is running iOS 8 now and that backup will not work on the iPad that is running iOS 7. Do not confuse the backup which contains app data and device settings, with apps that you download from the cloud.
You should be able to delete enough content to make room to download iOS 8, but frankly, since you have an iPad 2, you might want to give some more thought to it before you updates to iOS 8. I am reading some not so favorable reports from users that have the iPad 2 and updated to iOS 8. It is certainly your choice to make one way or the other, but you might want to do a little more research first.

  • Why is there not enough space on my DVD?

Ok, so here's the basic info. I'm using an iMac G5, running on OS X 10.4.11 with 2GHz PowerPC processor and 1.5 GB of RAM.
I have a season of the show Dexter on my computer, each file being an AVI movie file, about 350MB in size. I open DVD Studio Pro and import these files and suddenly each file grows to about 2 GB in size. Why is this?
Do I need to compress these files somehow before burning them to DVD? If so, how? And what can I compress them to to keep them at DVD quality?
I also have FCP and Compressor on my computer.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Nothing says Mac like AVI.
I'm not sure why you are dealing with an file format that is old enough to drink. I'll presume you are just trying to make a back-up of the disk you already own.
Your encode preference settings control how the files are being converted. DSP will always do this because the files need to MPG-2.
Hint: Most TV show DVDs are dual-layer disks. They don't always have to be but it does raise the inconvenience factor for bootleggers.
The DSP manual is a very good reference for creating dual-layer disks. Compressor can also create files that will fit on a DVD-5.

You cannot play songs on your iPod unless it is ejected using iTunes or disconnected from your computer.

  • Ihone 4s lost all contacts. I tried to restore from backup but the error message now says there is not enough room. I have deleted all the apps without making any more room on iphone. Why did contact disappear and how do I get them back?

In the simplest sense, archiving a file means making a copy that you never change and never discard. You already know how to do that.
iPhoto has built-in archival features, in the sense that it saves all versions of an image that you've modified. As long as you have adequate backups, you don't necessarily have any reason to archive an iPhoto library. If you want to delete images from the working library but still have access to them in case you change your mind, then you do need to archive those images. I don't have a specific suggestion as to how you should do that. You might post a question in the iPhoto forum.

Well when all else fails do a restore!  This fixed my problem.  Still don't know why the content bar differed, but what the hey!

  • There is not enough room on your iPod... ALERT - Repeats and Repeats and...

"There is not enough room on" XXX's iPod" to copy all of the requested files. iTunes will copy as many files as possible."
When I sync my iPod, I get the above message from five to 15 times. It does not match the number of songs it is copying. I could be syncing 5 songs and get the message 15 times. WHY does it repeat so much? Once is enough.
I AM low on iPod 80G hard drive space - that is not the issue.
It is set to automatically sync.

I am doing drag and drop, I have also tried right clicking the music file and clicking add to playlist. This is still a repeat error and I dont know what to do! I got the ipod yesterday and I am so gutted!
thanks loads for your help though, anymore suggestions you can think of?
