HT2731 I want to create a second  iTune account for iBooks.

I am trying to publish an iBook. When I tried to use my current ID which I used for my Apple apps. I provided banking and tax information when I made the application to upload the apps. I received a message I must create a different ID. How to create a second one?
MACBOOK Pro
OS 10.9.4

Yes, you can delete your account from settings > iCloud.  Your data will be stored in your personal account (simply choose to delete all information from your iPad when prompted). Then make a new one (again, settings > iCloud) making an account for your class.  When you are done in the classroom, delete the iCloud account again and login with your personal account  When prompted, always delete the information.

On the device you do not want the auto downloads to be installed on: Settings/iTunes & App Store. Deselect what you do not want to be automatically downloaded.

  • I want to create a new itunes account for myself and leave the current one for my wife. Is that possible?

Ok. My wife uses itunes for her work and she has asked me to open my own account without erasing the one we currently have so that our music can be seperate. I have my own pc and sync to my own itunes program but our purchases still download to the same account and the money comes from the same account. Can I open a new account and not lose everything? Thanks!

I hope this isn't too wordy but I want to be as clear and explicit as I can for you.
You can't transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple doesn't allow it.
You can continue to use your daughter's Apple ID in order to continue to use the apps that you purchased with her ID and you will need to use her ID and password any time that you want to update those apps. What you do want to avoid is having to download any of those purchased apps again on any other devices - if you create a new Apple ID.
If you create a new ID and then you sign into her ID in order to download a previous purchase-  you will lock yourself out of the new ID for 90 days and there is nothing that you can do about it. So as long as you do NOT download any past purchases with her ID - you will not lock yourself out of the new ID. So you can keep using the apps that were bought with her ID, you can also update those apps using her ID (you have to sign into her account in Settings>Store) but you can't download past purchases without messing things up with your new ID.
When you download a past purchase with a different ID - you associate that device with the different ID for 90 days. This is one way that Apple hopes to cut down on pirating of apps - friends using other friends IDs in order to download apps without patting for them.
This explains it in a little more detail.

The bottom line is that you can create a new ID, still use her ID - judiciously - but you really want to avoid downloading past purchases with her ID. Transfer all of those purchases into iTunes so that if something happens and you need the purchased content again, you can just sync it again rather than downloading it.
    This explains transferring purchases.

  • When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer

  • How do I create a new Itunes account for my external HD?

Hi. I am a graduate student with a huge amount of music files for academia.  I store the academia music files on my external HD, since it will just take up too much space on my computer.  I wanted to create a separate Itunes account just for my external HD music files.  How do I go about doing this? I tried to set it up and created a new account, but it automatically synced to my computer Itunes and I ended up deleting all of my personal music, video and reading articles on my personal itunes account.

As a graduate student you will quickly learn the importance of exact terminology.  I presume your colleague told you to copy the "iTunes folder".  You can't copy just iTunes (well, you can, but it isn't easy).  Saying "iTunes" on its own refers to the application itself, not the library.
You do not need to make a new account.  This again gets confusing unless you tell us exactly what you did.  As I said before, an "iTunes account" is something you log into to make a purchase from the iTunes Store.  A "computer account" is a whole new user area on your computer and isn't made on a different hard drive.  An "iTunes library" is a collection of files and folders that generate the window you see when you start the iTunes application.
I do not know how you are ending up with two icons on the dock.  While it is possible to do that it isn't at all normal unless you somehow are running two copies of iTunes at the same time.  That is exceedingly difficult to do and people have unsuccessfully tried and would like to know how you did it.
You can have two independent libraries and there won't be any crosssover from one to the other.  I have four on my computer.  Use the procedure I outlined earlier to create a second library and to switch between them.
I was a graduate student many years ago and one  of the first things I learned to do so I didn't lose years of research  was to make multiple backup copies of anything I generated by computer,  especially before performing any major changes to the computer such as  installing new software or substantial file rearrangement.  I kept several  copies in different buildings on campus and a copy at home in another  part of town just in case the campus was wiped out by a disaster.

  • I have multiple apple phones on one account  can i create a new iTunes account for other iphone

I have multiple iphones on one billing account as well as itunes.  Can I create a separate itunes account for other iphone?

You don't need to create two separate libraries.
If you want to sync different content onto each device, select the device in iTunes, select the tabs across the top and sync what you want.
To make it easier, create different playlists for each device and sync only those playlists.

  • How do I create 2 seperate iTunes account for me and my daughter

I already have a iTunes account. Just got my daughter a  iPod...BUT I don't know how to create a seperate iTunes account for her on the same computer. I do not want her to have my play list and visa versa.

Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and create a new library, or use separate Windows user accounts. This isn't the same as using different iTunes Store accounts.

    Hi jmb8989,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Does your wife have an AppleID for her iCloud already?  If so, she would use the same AppleID to sign in to the iTunes store.  If not, here is the information to add or change and Apple ID:

How do I get an Apple ID?
You may already have an Apple ID, and you only need one for everything you do with Apple. If you aren't sure, visit My Apple ID and click Find your Apple ID.
If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one at My Apple ID. You can also create one by signing up for an Apple service (such as an iTunes Store or iCloud). You should use your primary email address as your Apple ID.
You do not need to create a separate Apple ID for each Apple service. A single Apple ID can be used to access all other Apple services.
I hope this information helps ....
    Happy Holidays!

  • My wife decided to set up her iPhone on my account and now everything is comingled.  I want to set up an iTunes account for just me. Do I have to set that up on a computer or can I set it up on the iPhone?

My wife decided to set up her iPhone on my account and now everything is comingled.  I want to set up an iTunes account for just me. Do I have to set that up on a computer or can I set it up on the iPhone?

iTunes will need to be set up on your computer however you can set up a new Apple ID to use for your iPhone. Really all you need to do is Assign a new Apple ID to your iCloud account.
Follow the link to create a new Apple ID: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
After you do that, on the device you want to assign a new iCloud account go: Settings > iCloud > Delete Account and then sign in with the new Apple ID.
NOTE: This does not effect iTunes, all of your devices can continue to use one shared iTunes account under your original Apple ID for downloading apps and backups. This simply gives iCloud a place to sync the individual devices information and will stop iCloud form merging all the information, such as contacts, with all of your devices.

  • I have an itunes account.  However, I need to copy music onto a different iPod than my own.  How do I do that?  Do I need to create a separate iTunes account for that iPod?

I have an itunes account.  However, I need to copy music onto a different iPod than my own.  How do I do that?  Do I need to create a separate iTunes account for that iPod?

An account means an iTunes Store account which is an online service.  Do you mean that, or do you mean a library on a computer?
iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.  You can sync that iPod to your account but it will wipe everything currently on it.
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201253 - detailed example: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18860187#18860187
If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
I could post another 2 pages of stuff trying to cover every possible scenario.  It would help if you let us know exactly what you want to do.  Are you trying to sync just a few songs (like giving them to a friend which is something iTunes is deliberately set up not to do)?

How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.
