I know this has probably already been posted a few times but the search function ***** so all i found was how to redeem my card and i'm not stupid
so I got an iTune gift card from a friend for my birthday, i tried to redeem it but iTunes says the Code is not recognized as valid code. Since it was a gift i don't have the reciept so i can't let go back to the store where my friend bought it.
Yes the gift card is from the right country.
No my friend didn't steal it.

I searched online help, with some websites saying that i can write apple a note from the support website with some codes/numbers from the back of the card for help, but there is no way to contact Apple over the internet.
I really really need/want the 15 bucks from my card so please help

My itune gift card says it's not authorized. I've tried to redeem by typing in upper case letters and lower case letters. I've never had this problem before, what do I do so I can use this gift card?

I bought an itunes gift card yesterday and I have tried to redeem, but when I do I get a message the card has not been authorized. I have typed in typed in the code as seen mostly upper case and I have tried lower case also. Neither is working. I've never had this problem before. Should the store where I purchased it from done something to supposedly "activate" it. I'm at a loss. I do not have the store reciept a friend does, and I'm sure she desposed of it.

Yes, the retailer is supposed to activate the card. Otherwise they'd lose hundreds to shoplifting. What you normally should do is go back the retailer from whom you purchased the card and discuss the problem with them. They should either correctly activate the card or give you a new one. If they refuse to help, as some retailers do, or this was a gift so you cannot contact the retailer, go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

Was the iTunes card issued in the same country as your account is based (they are only valid in their country of issue) ? I had the exact same problem a couple of weeks ago and was instructed to scan of the front and back of the card and copy the original store receipt. I have the card, but not the original purchase receipt; not possible with a Christmas gift from couple of years ago.
I've had correspondence witha couple of the itunes customer services team who have been very unhelpful.
There is something very wrong in the itunes system where gift cards can be redeemed by 3rd parties (before the panels have even ben scratched off).
I would be interested to hear of any other similar experiences

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to activate after the update, and the server is getting overloaded. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

Might not just be the security code > iTunes Store: My credit card's security code or zip code does not match my bank's records
Apple "verifies" your billing credentials with every transaction.
what does my debit card have to do with my having a redeemed ITunes card
If the total purchase price of the media including any applicable taxes or fees exceeds the balance of the redeemed card, then the difference is charged to your debit or credit card account.
